So, how would a display and the controls fit in our cars? From this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi_Media_Interface), it looks like a 3G+ display is larger and the controls are smaller.
The display doesn’t beee either be replaced from the 3G+ only 3G+ unit and 3G controls if you didn’t already switch when converting from 2G

Ok, I will wait for the write up so I can understand better. Can you give us a ballpark of the cost to get from the base set-up (I assume my '08 is 2G) to a 3G+? Also let us know if new or used parts were used? Thanks for all the info and documentation you have provided.

I used all used parts …I literally had it ripped out of wrecked a6 turn had it coded
Mmi unit
Gateway
Mmi control
Bose amp
And interior harness if you can get it
You’ll need additional 6m blue fakra cable
And another cable for the radio
If you get the harness you can pair the wires so you don’t have to have the pins and crimp them if not you have to get the pins
