Never seen anything like this before. Low cost car appreciating so much in just a few years, wtf?

Currently 14 for sale in the US, about 6300 units sold worldwide. Surprised to see the market demand so high now for such few units sold when it was available

Yup, I kind of thought that had of chance of happening. But I thought it would have happened a little sooner and then started trailing back down.

The 1M is what BMW enthusiasts have been asking to have for quite a while. The only downside for enthusiasts was not having a special “M” Motor. First time a M model had the same motor as as another non-M model. Which I agree, was a bit lame.

I know! exactly. Isn’t this the same exact engine that is in the 335IS?

I remember reading up on this when it was coming out and realizing this really wasn’t a M car

  1. 19in wheels
  2. M style mirrors
  3. M body kit
  4. ???

Guy had one at our local track day. Fast as fuck car. Tune brakes, suspension, etc.

Super lightweight and good hp. Great track day car.

Before I got my RS, I looked for one to test drive. Couldn’t find one.

I did drive a 135 M Sport, which was a very fun car. Although not 1/2 the car I found the B7 RS4 to be…

I’m sure they are fast and fun but…I think they just look too feminine, the 1M fenders helped…maybe it is too small

I still can’t believe the price appreciation! :o

To be fair, I don’t think anyone was able to actually pick one up at $46k. If you custom ordered it you probably got it around $50-$55k after your basic options, but if it was just at the dealership, I think they caught a fair premium over sticker.

Anyhow, when you make the closest thing to the E30 M3 that you’ve made in almost 30 years, yea it’s going to be a big hit! But thankfully, that may be part of the reason the new M3 (or should I say M4) is shedding weight from the last generation and a F.I. motor.

they started at about 55k in Canada, here is one for sale for $76k Canadian.

This is of course in stark contrast to 2011 S4’s which have fallen through the floor.

Good point. with the option up it does close the appreciation gap

noticed you’re selling your own?

There are so many s4s out there, causing the problem I’d assume. It’s a victim of its own popularity and unlimited production… Makes resale tough.

yeah, was chatting with my salesguy as I got the midlease call asking if I wanted to come and trade the car in a few months ago even though I knew it wouldn’t work (it’s some company they have that tries to up volume by bringing in customers) but wholesale value is so far in the negative it isn’t even funny.

Apparently dealerships are getting flooded with S4’s like crazy. At least I am not in a negative position on a private sale so if it sells it sells, if it doesn’t no skin off my nose. Only cars that are somewhat holding their value are the RS cars.

Even if it’s not an “M” motor, it’s still a great motor. 335s are now over 700 whp on stock internals!! No one has reached the limits of the stock motor yet.

that’s retarded^^^

The B7 RS4 is pushing around 500-550 whp on stock internals and that seems ridiculous.

Of course catastrophic failure from a bent or snapped connecting rod when pushing an engine too much isn’t the only concern. There’s also the chance that some of these engines are dying a slow death. We will see that in the Audi world over the next 12 months, and it should pull the pants down on a few Audi tuners who thought they were smart.

I agree completely on the slow death piece. That’s why I am never “first” to have something and ok with it.

AKA running 14psi on a high compression engine on pump gas lol and pushing it to 8500rpm to match another company running 8psi at 8000 and running better numbers lol

really? any quick references that you can share?

^^ Here ya go. There are other setups and other options, but this is one.

[QUOTE=shiv@vishnu;13835385]Update: PUMP GAS (91oct) NO METH:

Dyno @ http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=829687

Happy to say that we were the first to break 300, 400, 500, 600 and now 700whp with the N54

Captain Insano’s Vishnu/FFTEC 6466 single turbo 335i
100oct+pwm meth
26psi
4th gear
STD corrected
No Smoothing (set to 0)

Full torque by 4300rpm! And a nice linear 700whp @ only 26psi, which suggests that there is plenty left in this 6466 turbo (should support over 850 WHP). The Capt has been running this car at Laguna Seca for the last year (albeit with 50whp less)

Uncorrected/Actual: 708whp 606wtq

Still some fine tuning to do with the WGDC table (it is currently based on the smaller 6262 turbo which isn’t ideal but good enough for this initial testing). The 6466 spools just as quickly as the smaller 6262 but packs a serious punch and absurdly fast spool. Hope to run some 60-130s with it this weekend. And I hope to see 5.x seconds.

Both STD and Uncorrected/Actual results attached below:

I believe they are swapping the springs on the head just to prevent valve-float, but that it’s a minimal build (i.e. not porting or replacing valves).

Saki, any chance that is the same Captain from the early JHM days? Time for you to do some research. Says he’s in the SF area (I dunno where the JHM captain guy was from). If it is him, it’d be cool for him to post his info/perspective over here.

Shiv from Vishnu made his name in the Subaru and Mitsubishi world.

I had one of his first ever TBExhaust systems on my bug eye WRX. He actually flew up to PDX tuning for a tune day which I did.

Wonder if it’s actually fast. I haven’t seen…what’s the fastest 1/4 mile 335?

The fastest, so far, is an earlier version of Shiv’s set up @ 10.8 @ 131 mph. (as posted on e90post)

There is also a TT kit making 700 whp. I’d like to see times from one of those set ups!
