A lot of pretty nasty comments here, I think someone should relax, have a coke and a smile lol.
I don’t like when people talk shit. I also don’t like when people hide from the facts.
I think primetime is awesome and literally is the most straight up, helpful, upstanding guy on any audi forum and I’ve told him as much over the years.
However I think he is taking my criticism of the Apr TCU and their business practice (selling this faulty, useless tcu tune that they themselves admit Gen 1 cars are not fit for and which multiple members of this site have had trouble with if my pm inbox is any indication) as criticism of primetime personally…and that makes no sense to me.
It would be ok if we were all going after EPL for shit service and tuning…right? or Jfonz…
Remember, we don’t really give anyone a free pass here. That is why some of you like this place. We should keep everyone honest…no favorites.
Ron you sly dog you :o
I should have grew some and just drove through the night to your place on Friday and went with you.
I think I was just a little bummed out that the wife was cramping my vibe on taking the journey all the way to ATCO just to try and break a record. LOL. Once I realized it was still 5hrs to drive to you for positive DA I had my mind made up.
Good stuff buddy, glad you were able to get the reflash in time. Next year should be fun. But I am defiantly going to try and rally the troops for a trip into the states.
It would be cool to get a bunch of us and head down. the guys I know doing decent number up here in the North. i.e. Jones2012s4 (Jeff the Pimp), S4matty (Matt) & 2000s4 (George) I don’t know anyone else in this area in the mid or close to mid 11 numbers.
But, it would be awesome to meet up at a central location. ATCO would be great to see the possible lowest numbers, but another track mid way would be ideal. It would be interesting to see what Pete’s car does at a different track. We should try and plan something for April - ish.
Most automatic B8 S4s run around 2.37 x their 330’ time for the 1/4 mile et. Ones with functioning DSG transmissions do anyway.
Based on that Primetime 4.735 330 foot time on his 11.450 pass was on pace for 11.22. And that includes a 1-2 and a 2-3 shift…so if any of those are hanging you can imagine what that’s doing to slow him down even by 330.
His 1.57 60’ run produced a 4.696 330. That’s on pace for 11.13
GO (slower with) APR!
I guess the bromance is over. :’(
Congrats on the new time. That a big step forward and funny to see one week apr the next week giac and then back to apr.
Lots of respect for also mentioning the down side of the transmission tune. I think its going to be a crazy run for you when they get that figured out.
I think it’s well established that the TCU tune by APR isn’t quite there yet. I don’t think anyone has that illusion. Prime has also had shift hang ups on his stock TCU as well.
That said, prime is at the top of the list again (subpar TCU tune or otherwise).
He’ll only get faster once that gets sorted out.
And while I’m going to stay out of it, I’ll just say that there’s not really much to gain (nor is it very constructive) saying ‘anyone can do it’ on DSG. Not everyone can do it, or else it would be really crowded on the 1/4 mile list.
There’s technique (prime has a particular way of getting off the line), and there’s a lot of small nuances involved as well. At least I have appreciation of that, anyways.
Now the folks that post on behalf of APR, really needs to know how to communicate better or think about what’s being posted…
