Boom!

…(with apologies to primetime for stealing his title, though I did use lower case because of the smaller boom… :wink:

(how about that 60’ time!?)
DA: 90 feet
Mods: STaSIS v2.0 ECU tune, AWE S-flo intake

ZCD, It’s all good man! Can’t see the images as I am in the office and they are blocked… Can you type out the best slip please… appreciate it and congrats on a new best! I had a killer MPH this weekend but couldn’t 60ft for shit so no new record for me…

[quote=“primetime,post:2,topic:3895”]
60’: 1.775
330’: 5.221
1/8th: 8.045 @ 88.97
1000’: 10.456
1/4: 12.476 @ 110.33 mph

What title? I don’t get the “boom” factor. Congrats though if its a new PB!

Thanks! Very nice indeed… 91 fuel? Going under 12.50 with the limited mods and on 91 is impressive IMO Good stuff!

[quote=“primetime,post:5,topic:3895”]
Fuel was 93, because that’s what we get here in Illinois. Contains 10% ethanol, of course…

[quote=“zcd1,post:6,topic:3895”]

That’s great. Just what we were saying you could run once the da cooperates.

Any change to your launch technique? Your previous sixty foot was mid 1.8…this is a big gain

[quote=“sakimano,post:7,topic:3895”]
The only difference I’m aware of is that I was trying to mash the gas AS I let off the brake, rather than AFTER. I had better reaction times that way (had one lucky 0.075ish R/T…) and my overall average 60 foot time from yesterday’s runs was better than my previous single best time.

Cool. Don’t sweaty the reaction times too much unless you are racing Jspazz.

Ever try mashing the gas a Milli second before you let off the brake?

[quote=“sakimano,post:9,topic:3895”]
that is what I do… seems to work ok on my car… timing is critical but I have it down since I do it quite a bit… lol

Great job ZCD. That looks pretty much like my pump gas run, I have no intake but I had better DA and I was on APR S2V2.

I don’t think 60’ can get much better than that on pump gas, an it’s especially impressive since you are running without a pulley. The pulley adds so much power from 3000, it helps so much in the 60, so your car must be running full REVO programming to even touch stage II performance in the 60’.

Lol Saki. Speak for yourself, you are so good you cut a 0.029 tree while looking at the tach!..:slight_smile:

Prime, interesting. I let off the brake probably a bit before the gas, not enough to roll the car, really, maybe 0.1. APR V2 eliminates the left foot braking safety, but I tried it at the track with a bit of load (proogz launch) and it really messed up the DSG that run, bogged a bit and short shifted.

For stock cars (or tunes where left foot braking safety is still on) the car gives you a second before it linearly cuts throttle over a couple seconds. You can watch this in VCDS if you like.

You should go to Byron next time, it’s notoriously quite a bit faster than GLD.

elevation difference? better prep?

Great time and great 60’ ZCD!

Want to hook a brother up with some tips…

:slight_smile:

Thanks - I have to admit that I was stoked when I saw the slip! I will say, too, that the butt dyno registered that run as the best the car had ever managed even before I saw the slip. It just felt REALLY quick out of the hole, with none of the hesitation that so often accompanies a hard launch with this car. I think I even recall a brief moment of wheelspin, but that was AFTER I had left the line. Who knows, maybe that brief slip was just enough to get the engine up into its powerband more quickly, and that’s what led to the great run? Hard to know for sure…

It’s funny you say that as I am the same way… I almost always know within a tenth what time I ran before picking up the slip… Launch feel and where on the track I shift to 5th are my indicators… Always a good feeling when you set a personal best or record…

Not me. I’m usually holding on for dear life and arrive at the timeslip hut a disheveled, confused mess. Its always like Christmas morning…always a surprise.

Not me - I’m lazy - DSG FTMFW! grin

lol

I always show up to the timeslip hut wondering 'what the fuck did I just do? Where did I shift? What RPM did I launch off?

I wish I had a good video of the gauges…that would be key. I really must leave some time on the table because even though I have the fastest stock RS4 time, I honestly don’t tweak the formula much and compare my times etc. I always launch around 3800 RPM and spin too much, I always shift around 7800 RPM, I always run stock tire pressure which is likely around 40 PSI. I reckon there’s a tenth sitting there.

Nice runs! I went there early saturday. I couldn’t hook up for nothing. Soooo disapointed because the car was flying. Anyone think all-season tires would help? They wouldn’t start to harden up below 50 degrees like the summer tires do. Any thoughts?
