How bad do you mean, Ryan? I could hook up in 0 degree weather with RE-11s, at 1.72s no problem. I spend a lot of effort warming up the tires and trying to get some track rubber on my tires.
How were the times?

This is what I was talking about:
Tire Differences
A main difference among winter tires, all-season-tires and summer tires is the pliability and durability of their rubber at different temperatures. Tire engineers call it “glass transition temperature”: Get them cold enough and every tire will have the grip of a Formica kitchen counter. For a race tire, it might be 40 degrees Fahrenheit. For a winter tire it could be 60 below zero. Summer tire tread starts becoming Formica-like somewhere just below freezing. Most all-season tires are still pliable below zero, but some “ultra-high-performance all-season” tires start losing grip well before that.
It was pretty bad, car was jumping, or bouncing. Not sure how to explain it, other then just letting you see it in the videos I took. Your not going to hook up with the tires you have in 0 degree temps, but whatever. Very interested in how you warm up the tires?
As far as the times, I learned my lesson. I will not post untill I have the videos and slips all ready to post with them.(kevkev)
Lol don’t sweat stuff like that when just chatting here. Everyone knows your car is quick.
The timeslips etc are for records or whatever.
Kevkev posted a Mercedes s class timeslip and said it was his own. Nothing remotely close to compare to you. Jspazz was joking about the kevkev thing back then when you went 11.6 because you came fairly out of the blue with it.
Fonzie brought up the kevkev thing, I just explained what he meant. I believe the non-cert No Limits times, maybe a bit of a tailwind, but whatever. There were 11 second runs no matter how you stack it…very very promising to be the first with stock cats to do it.
Ryan, don’t worry about posting times that are slower…it happens, even Primetime runs a dud once in a while and he posts it when he does.
Here’s a video of a 1.72 60’ in near-freezing weather, with the RE-11s. It actually snowed that morning nearby. Everyone else kept their winters on, but nobody could get in the 1.7s that day but me (richie, Auditude, apexit, others). I did another 1.7 on pump the next day. Now consider Prime somehow gets 1.6’s in similar weather, so this is really nothing…

Here’s a video with severe wheel hop…is this what you mean?

Ryan, come on share the slips/times… How did the car trap as you mention it flying? As for traction I don’t usually have too much issue but struggled last week and couldn’t get any sub 1.65 60’s… You need to lower the tire pressure if you are spinning and wheel hoping… I always keep the fronts 4-6psi higher… Also, as J mentioned try to heat them up… I don’t do it like J does but as I am driving through the lanes(which are empty this time of year) I do the Nascar thing and turn back and forth to add some heat to them… Hoping to run this Sat. and temps are projected to be mid to high 30’s so it should be interesting… Unfortunately, there is a chance for snow so it may get canceled but hopefully the snow comes late in the day… Will see…
I think some are confusing farenheit and Celsius.
My best time 11.757@119.6 was at 37 degrees F or 2 degrees C (basically at freezing). I’m running Pirelli Cinturato P7 summer tires so it is possible to hookup in those conditions just may take a bit of work.
Ryn, you should just post the slips and video as a lot can be deduced by your trap speed. Also, we can get an idea of the DA and weather conditions. Maybe recommend tire pressure, etc.

lol wtf
Some struggle
lol, you guys are funny. I have no problem posting my time slips. I’m new, and trying to play by the rules. Sorry just been busy, but here ya go. First run tires just spun, second run spun with some bouncing.

Your DA was -23 with temperatures about 54 degrees. To me those conditions aren’t bad at all. it also looks as though you had clear sky’s so I’m not sure why you had such a hard time hooking up. Was track prep horrible? What was your tire pressure? You can warm up your tires by aggressively pulling up to the staging lights. That will also help in removing stones and what not from you tires.
The track clock was not ajusted for daylight savings, so the time was 10:39am, not 11:39am. According to my car, the temp was upper 40’s. I’m thinking it had something to do with track prep. My brother was video taping for me and he said a lot of people were struggling. I was the second car to run down the track.
I will definatly try the aggressive pull to the line next time. After the second run I noticed a ton of little stones on my tires like you said. I Tried to lower the tire pressure for the third run and same wheel hop happened, so I shut it down right away and gave up for the day. Not happy!

Yeah it’s too bad you gave up Ryan…I think once you got an even layer of track rubber on your tires, you would have been ok. My PBs have usually been after the 5th run or after.
I’d definitely try my method a few times, back up right to the water box if you have to, shift to M, and spin them hard, then back to S. ATCO made us run through the water box, but they had enough burnout length after that to get the tires spinning on the run up to the staging beams. I’ve never noticed (heard?) any stones on my tires that was significant enough to affect the launch. But I have noticed that my tires tend to grab enough track rubber after 10 runs to affect launching in a positive way. A couple weeks ago, I think Bear had the same thing, his 60’s kept improving, mind you, not to 1.6s…I think a 1.71.
Looks like both those runs would have been 11.9s at least, if you could have pulled a 1.70 60’. Was really sweet watching the 335 disappear in your mirror on the second vid.

Okay… My advice would be to keep on trying to play with tire pressure and warming up the tires before each run based on the conditions. I also highly recommend a Vag cable as it will provide data necessary data to help analyze your runs and find areas to improve. (If you take my case for example I need to look at the CPS unit I have installed as my IAT’s seem to track abnormally high and if I didn’t log anything and just ran 11.757 I would assume everything is working perfectly)
Your car moves, man - even if you weren’t happy, that thing’s FAST.
You know, that same 335xi was there Sunday when I was there, too. He put himself in a position to run with me, but then pulled off to the side and just watched me run. I think when he saw the 12.4 he decided he didn’t want to run with me, and then he never staged anywhere near me again.
you think? I don’t think anyone cares who they run against enough to let them go unless it’s a massive horsepower drag car…those I stay the fuck away from in case they go wonky.
Certainly not likely that a 3x is going to be intimidated by someone going 12.4 and trapping 109-110 MPH. He should be close to that if he has a tune.
Its not that I’m not happy with the times, they’re good times. I’m just not happy driving 2 hours then not being able to get any runs in without wheel spin and tire hopping. I’m thinking she would have run 11.8s at least. That would have been what I expected to run with the fuel I had. 1/3 tank of 100oct with a little 93 that was in it when I put in the 100.
I’m glad Arin introduced me to this forum, I’ve learned a lot. I hope to get out one more time, and try what you guys told me to do.
you think?..He should be close to that if he has a tune.
Well, it happened exactly like I described, so yeah, I do think.
He ran 12.9 @ 109 in the one vid that Ryan posted, so maybe he didn’t want to get shown up by an Audi 2 days in a row…?
I think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself. People aren’t nearly as insecure at the dragstrip as you are making them out to be.
Were you scared of being shown up (badly) by that M5 who was trapping 120 MPH and putting 5 car lengths on you ET wise? I doubt it. You’d probably be like ‘fuck that thing is fast’ and then go on with your day.
I think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself.
With all due respect, Saki, I was there and you weren’t, and I didn’t bother to tell every detail of the story, so you don’t actually know the whole situation. So, who’s getting ahead of himself?
Just sayin’…
Interesting Arin sent you here, Ryan! Great stuff either way, your car is fast no doubt. 81bear didn’t trap 120mph overnight and PT has also been lots. Keep going and the records will fall. But most of all, have fun…
You said “maybe he didn’t want to get embarrassed by an Audi two days in a row”
Using the word maybe means to me that you are using your imagination to decide what he was thinking.
Using the word embarrassed means you are a bit of a cock.
Just sayin.
