Brembo BBK...

So I decided to do a BBK and hopefully a LW rear rotor shortly… After talking to some folks I went with the Brembo 380MM kit, black calipers and slotted rotors… Planned on Stoptech but after learning more Brembo won out…

Plan on doing a few track days this year and wanted the weight loss for drag racing… Putting them on Thur. so I will have pics and impressions… Just thought I would share some pics with them off the car and weights…

Brembo 380MM BBK
Rotor - 20.2 lbs
Caliper(with pads) - 11.0 lbs
carrier, line, etc. - 1.8 lbs

Total Weight - 33.0 lbs

Neal(NWS4Guy) weighed his Stoptech 355mm kit and the weights are below… I’ll see what I get for the stockers? Neal got 41 lbs total… So I am at 8 lbs saving vs 10 lbs… Questions let me know and like I said I’ll post more onced installed…

Stoptech BBK ST-60:
Rotor - 18.10 lbs
Caliper - 8.9 lbs
Pads - 2.6 lbs
Caliper Carrier - 1.5 lbs

Total weight - 31.10 lbs

nice, interested to see how much weight it cuts off

Hey Ron, threw mine on Sat night. My hats didn’t come APR tuned though…

I was impressed with the braking force during the bedding, even, the threshold to not activating ABS is MUCH higher. I seemed to have picked up a vibration though, I may re-bed them to see if it goes away.

Watch out installing your wheels! Clearances are indeed tight now, easy to scratch a caliper or squash your fingers putting the wheels on now. And I probably should move the wheel weights, jeez like I said that clearance is f–king tight.

Weight wise rotors are all that really matters.

What do stock rotors weigh…26 or so?

Beem, Based on what I have read from others it will be about 8-9lbs per wheel… I’ll weigh the stockers in detail once they are off and these on…

J, Yeah, saw the APR logo… If they weren’t so good to me and hadn’t given me a such a great price I would be upset but it is what it is… Boy you aren’t kidding that is a tight fit… I can always throw a small spacer on if needed… After seeing yours maybe I should have went red but I wanted a more OEM look plus the backs are black for now… I also think silver with the red writing would have looked choice… Oh well what’s done is done…

Saki, I believe they are around 26lbs but will verify once I get them off… I agree the rotating weight loss will be the biggest benefit but I’ll take the other few lbs as well! LOL

a little unsprung reduction is nice, but the rotors will be pretty significant if it’s indeed 24 lbs shaved.

It’s a shame you guys can’t just get a lightweight stock sized rotor.

oh contrar monfrair give it two weeks ;D

Au contraire mon frere.

lol at American phonetic french. My other favourite American frenchism on forums is ‘so I changed the clutch and VIOLA! Everything is great’

Viola is a large stringed instrument that looks like a giant violin
Voila is a french word that is a combination of LOOK and THAT/THE to sort of create a one word phrase like LOOK THERE! or LOOK AT THAT! or THERE IS/HERE IS/THAT IS.

Hopefully that’s right. There are a couple of guys who are actually french on the site who can feel free to correct me (but don’t bitch about accents grave as my keyboard is english)

  1. Need more weight reduction ideas…

im not american im russian ;D

You can put in a optima battery loose 10-20 lbs, I want light weight rotors and pull my fan off and go to electric fan. I also want to put light wheels on it and a carbon fiber drive shaft! the drive shaft will lighten up the rotation!

Yeah, I just got a new battery under warranty but think I will get something anyway… I would love a CF driveshaft… Even on my Mustang they were very expensive… I assume the B8 is aluminum… I’ll have to check… I’ll make a weight reduction thread in the next day or so…

Mind sharing why you opted against stoptech?

ship your car to me, ill make it light :-*

whoa… whoa… but TD1 ;D ;D ;D ;D

details!!!?? Who is manufacturing them so I can start annoying my parts supplier to get these in 8) 8)
