C5 allroad

24 hours and 1700 miles of driving from Chicago to Flagstaff this weekend. Worth it though. Beautiful drive through Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Hell, even Iowa and Nebraska weren’t that bad. Funny how a new car makes everything better. Suprised my folks with a pop in visit (Mom cried a little).

Picked it up

A well deserved cleaning. Raised to level 4 to get a good wheel well/undercarriage spray down.

Bottom line is I am glad I made the switch. I will miss the imolas power but this is a pretty damn versatile and comfortable ride. I do like the 4.2 exhaust note. Plans to upgrade exhaust, JHM tcu/ecu tunes, sway bars, wheels/tires, and come spring, nitrous 8). Should be a fun new project.

First thing though, what is the go to spark plug for these 4.2’s. Thanks.

Man, that thing is clean. Awesome action pics!

The 4.2 engine is so rare in those cars too. I don’t even think we got it up here in Canada at all.

I am guessing you know that that engine is more or less the same as the B6 S4 engine, only detuned by Audi. Should be a nice bump in power available, if you decide to go the JHM route.

Oh yeah. I am aware. Cant wait to upgrade it. I bought it from a close friend whos had it for the last 3 years. Talked him into buying it knowing I would take it off his hands when the time was right. Hes now looking for his C7 S6. Must be rough. I’ll glady take his hand me down though.

Hahaha… nice

OEM NGK OR BOSCH

they’re pregapped .

Thanks. Everything keeps popping up with oe bosch. Anyone know the ngk “equivalent” to oe bosch part #

NGK state .032
Bosch say pregapped but dont list a figure

And I say talked him into but really just always pointed out how much I liked them usually on a ski trip. Then he says hey im getting an ar which engine? I strongly recommended him getting the 4.2 for less stress and hassle. I knew he would be turned off by owning a 2.7.

I am going to miss the power frankly. Living at 7000 ft even with turbo lag, the power is still available. Naturally aspirated suffers up here. But, it will be good.

Get the 4 post plugs they are best because you don’t need to degree the plugs. Also check the gaps on them as they tend to be inconsistent. I wouldn’t worry about the brand for right now. Once you get the jhm nos kit that comes with plugs. You need to change plugs to run nos anyway so I wouldn’t make too big of a deal. Lovin the pictures and updates. Once you get a few mods on the 4.2 you will see the instant tq feels much better then the laggy turbo.

I just buy them from the dealership with a discount from a parts guy who helps out

I will check them but what am I verifying? What should the gap be? Thanks.

You just want to keep the gap consistent between the plugs and the posts. Normal gap is about .34. There different plugs then normal you will see what I mean when you get them. Most of them should be properly gapped but you will almost always find one way out of gap. This is what leads to people having misfire and rough running issues down the line. You can also have a little reduced power from that too

Ok. Ill verify before swapping them in. Ive had the 4 electrode plugs before. I think thats whats stock anyway. I went ngk over bosch.

So, while tracking down a passenger power seat issue I found it was simply the harness clip not fully snapped in place. Easy enough. BUT, in doing so I found the passenger side carpeting to be pretty wet. Not good! Looked around for the usual suspects and no smoking gun. Need to track it down fast to avoid any damage.

And to compound issue, no radio security code for when I pull battery to verify under the tray. But if it were in fact clogged, wouldnt there be standing water? Which there is none!?

Really find dealing with these kinds of nonsensical issues as annoying and tedious.

All 4 sunroof drains appear to be serving their function. Dont think they are source of wet floor/carpet. On to the next…

Super stoked. I like the actual gm color. Not too dark and the finish is almost a light matte but still shows depth.

Lovin the rims. Nice to see the sunroof drains working well. Where is the wet carpet at in the car. And have you pulled up the carpet to look under to see if there is any standing water

Its mostly in passenger side front. Minimal pull back but from what I could see it was mostly top surface. Im gonna open more up this weekend

^^hey look a single post. Just ribbing ya.

I really like this car. Now I want one lpl
