C5 allroad

You have to fix the water problem ASAP!

If it soaks your TCU which is under the passenger seat carpet, youll be looking at big bucks for a replacement.

The most common problem is in the drain near the battery. Here is a video where someone cleared it out.

If that is not it, let me know and Ill research further. It is a common issue, although I never had the problem on any of my C5s.

Those wheels look beautiful, btw. Nice and lightweight. Forged yes?

OK, just reread your post and it looks like you already checked the drain near the battery, correct?

Until you figure out what it is, maybe you should be covering the TCU in a plastic bag or something. If that gets corroded, and you cant fix it, then youll have to get a matching code one. The rare ones (which I would bet a 4.2 Allroad probably has a rare one) go for big bucks.

This was in one of the comments of the youtube video

The FIX is not completed by clearing the drains, water is still draining into the inside air duct. You have to remove the rain deflector that runs just under the windshield. Apply PB Blaster etc. to the upper edge, remove clips and move the deflector down and swing upwards to unlock deflector. Then you can get to the hidden back nut holding the pollen filter box. Remove all three bolts on the filter box and remove it. The rubber gasket that sealed the air duct has disintegrated. I cleaned up the area and used black silicon caulk to seal the box to the car. I did not use caulk around the duct opening.
Earlier Audi routed the runoff water toward the fenders. The A6 has a SUPER design flaw running the water to the center over the interior air duct work where gravity takes it into the foot wells.

I beleive that is the first time EVER in the history of the internet that there was a useful comment posted under a youtube video.

Edit: 2× strikes again

Thanks for your help and tips. And no, I have not been able to fully remove the battery and mount because I need to pull the radio to get s/n so I can reset it after disconnecting battery. My buddy did not have the pin code for me. I am fully aware of the tcu among other expensive control modules being in the floor board. And I agree, resolving this is of utmost importance to me. I will be getting to bottom of it asap if not by end of weekend at latest. Fortunately we have clear sunny weather in forecast.

The wheels are not forged. They are flow formed like other “better” quality cast makes such as enkei, advan, work, oz, etc

They are 18x10 at 20 lbs

No problem, good luck

I just realized that your user name cam go from happy2b5 to happy2c5

Is the car a 6 speed tiptronic. I really like the rims.

No its a 5 spd. Yuck

Was thinking happy2BC45. One b5 still, a c4 and a c5. But thats not as fun as happy2posttwice. Ha!

Thanks man. I really like them too. I think they will accent the gray flares and bumpers nicely. Cant wait to get tires mounted and fit them.

Really hate these cars at times. Pulled my head unit to get audi to give me the reset pin. Of course there is no AUZ serial number anywhere on the unit. No sticker, not etched in housing. Nothing.

I know I can retrieve via vagcom. But need to get it first. Or pay the dealer. No dealers in my area. VW only and maybe can do it.

#frustrated

Worse case scenario, this guy is taking offers on a Symphony II plus Ipod kit

^that sounds like a darn good deal. Miss having my ipod hooked up but with lifetime Sirius/xm on the new car, not too big a deal

Gotta love these forums. Engineering mode revealed the AUZ s/n. Success!

Nice!

Pin received

So initial observation and comparison to the still owner b5 s4 avant tip is the b5 is much more direct and predictable. The allroad seems to be searching and much more herky jerky. I hope its not a symptom of a bigger issue with my particular cars tranny!?

Need cv to write me a tcu tune
Need to get him my tcu model/serial #. Vagcom next purchase asap

Pin radio stuff sucks tracking down. Nice work

The annoying thing was i had the unit out, no s/n. Audi says to me “we’ve never seen that; it has to be there” Nope
