C5 allroad

This motor loves exhaust.

I remember helping a guy out a few years ago that had the v8 all road. If you get a chance take apart your air box and get some measurements. It should be a little bigger then the S4 and the stock S4 air box is a great system that doesn’t need to be upgraded.

Just had it all apart last weekend, lol. Easy enough to get at it again though. Measurements such as LxWxH, maf diam, etc? Pics of inside?

To confirm, aside from a made to order header system, piggies and a better flowing 2.5" exhaust is next best option? It may be just as easy and convenient for me to just have a muffler shop cut out my precat section and replace it with a “test pipe” section.

Catless downpipes would be marginally better than piggies but the improvement can be hard to justify given the cost.

The best airbox measurement would be volume imho.

Thanks for insight

Exactly cat less are good if you get full 2.5 and it stays 2.5 to the catback. Just keep it simple piggies and catback. Don’t worry about putting in a test pipe just take out the precat.

The air box start with simple measurements that way it can be compared quicker.

Magnaflow catback delivered today. Time to get them piggie pipes

Take some pictures of the stock exhaust and the magnaflow. Is this a allroad specific exhaust or something your thinking is going to fit.

It might help if you take 2 pictures for each of your posts. LoL

Hahahaha! It is for a c5 a6 but confirmation from other c5 4.2 allroad owners who have exact same setup as fitting well.

That would make good sense because the allroad is just a A6 wagon

Ok, so my precats are gutted. Until I get tuned will i simply be annoyed by check engine light or will the car be running like crap? I did not relocate rear o2 sensors. Also just putting back together as it was. No o2 spacers. Thanks.

Installed. A little tweaking and pipe bending and all seems to be located pretty good with no clearancing issues. Drivers muffler is a little more angled than passenger but livable. Pretty darn good fit really for a mass produced piece

Wow not too bad. The 02 you will get a code for and the car will run better with the jhm tune. Much better but the rear 02 does control some of the fueling.

Was that the magnaflow system. I bet the car sounds way better now.

And the best part is you got the kit with a RIGHT and a LEFT muffler! They should make them all that way LOL

It is mf system and honestly was hoping for more of a change in rumble so to speak. Think it may develope more over time? That is a bit of a bummer about the rear controlling some fueling. Guess the sooner I get it to jhm the better.

Yep right and left lol. I was seriously wondering if i was gonna get your missing muffler section. Lol!

LOL, that would be crazy if that had happened.

The Magnaflow for the C5 A6 has got to be the best bang-for-the-buck exhaust out there.

Give it awhile to break in, and then if you still want louder, then replace the resonators with straight pipe.

Your Allroad is turning into an awesome build

Really was wondering if it might. I got mine from performance peddler, too. And def pleased with the product. For the money it is hard to go with another system imo.

Thanks. I am enjoying it. I do, dare I say, miss my b5 s4. Thing was a pretty solid example of a dependable 400+ whp, daily driven, take across country with zero hesitation fun car. But, the ar is shaping up. Really cant wait to get it tuned but figure it will just be that much sweeter come spring. Want to enjoy the car for the winter months so it will have to wait until then.

The allroad and any of the 4.2 non rs4 motors are great but don’t really come alive without a little help from the jhm parts bin. I love my S4 and I drive it with excitement and joy. That same feeling isn’t there on a stock S4. I would think the allroad suspension would be a little on the weak side giving the car a little less confidence as well.
