C5 allroad

Photo dump. Beautiful place called Oak Creek Canyon south of Flagstaff. Usually very crowded but we mustve found the right time to stop by on way home. Only one other couple at this spot.

402 mod today. Lowered air spring settings by 15mm or so.

Couple more. Need to adjust front left corner up a few mm (slight rub). Pretty sure that air spring is shot. Every time its parked over night on level 1 its deflated and with the added stress of being lowered it wont be long for this car…

Anyone know if b7 rs4 oem brakes will fit my 4.2 allroad?

Not without some sort of adapter I think.

I’m lovin your car. It loos so current and to be the cool thing about that year all road is that you basically have a be s4 wagon. I’m loving the pictures. Seriously that car looks great and you found some great location to take pictures.

Hey thanks, Justin. Appreciate it. We all love our cars and this one is no exception. Enjoying transforming it from the stock form my buddy who owned it prior to me kept it.

Hmmm, I got a good line on a front rs4 kit and would love to make it work. They are a direct fit on the b5 s4 I believe and this car has same hp2 calipers. Need to figure out how to make em work. Will they even fit under 18" wheels? Mine have tons of caliper clearance, more concerned about the 365mm discs.

Woke up to a dead battery. Any of those portable chargers/testers worth a shit? Don’t necessarilly want to pull it and take into box store to test. Rather test at home in car.

Dead battery’s suck. I don’t know exactly what portable chargers your referring to but I have a trickle charger that I got at sears for like 125$ that’s awesome I use it all the time. I use a simple voltage tester that I use for house electronic testing to test the battery as it has a DC setting on it.

Something like what you’ve described is what I meant. Looking at one from sears. Got a model # to share that I can look into? Thanks

These are well worth the money. Mine is over 10 years old and it’s still working like new.

Thanks man. I’ll look into one like it

Appointment to drop the ar off at jhm end of this month. Pretty stoked and having real hard time resisting just doing the nitrous while its there. Wanted to maybe just enjoy a tuned car first then get another bump later. But, the plan has always been to have a nitrous 4.2 ar

The 4.2 performance primer is very solid. The nitrous kit is a big plus to that. I would really recommend spending the big money in the exhaust the tune and an intake manifold if possible.

The crank pulley is a great help
The light wright rotors are a great sneaky investment that really adds acceleration you wouldn’t expect.

What is your full mod list while your there.

It’s very exciting time.

Currently have magnaflow 2.5" and piggies. Thats really about it for engine performance.

See if they can make a set of cat less dps for you. That would help wake the car up as well.

What all are you going to have done

The plan was/is ecu and tcu tunes and nitrous kit.

That will wake up the car and make it super fun.

If your set on that that’s fine. If not consider

The auto tensioner and lightweight pulley add in the intake manifold as the intake helps the car run better in the upper rpm and boost the power band. The big pay off is cat less dps. The back bone of the power from the 4.2 is the exhaust. If they made you down pipes you could keep your piggies for emissions if you ever needed. The jump in power over piggies to cat less dps something to consider. Add in light wright rotors and that package just gave you a big boost in acceleration.

I have the jhm nitrous kit and it’s great. I’m very happy. But for me the intake lightweight crank pulley light weight rotors are more desirable because they aid the nitrous kit and it adds to a considerable amount of power and acceleration when off the bottle and since that’s better then 90% of the time it’s worth it. You should be able to do the intake rotors crank pulley spacers auto tensioner for the same or less then the nitrous kit.

Whatever you do its going to be great. I just wanted to help offer some ideas and options.

Thanks. I am debating between the nitrous with lw crank pulley and im and stage 1 s/c now after speaking with Jake. Thing is at almost 3x the cost to gain maybe ~20 more hp it doesnt seem to compute. Plus we dont even know if the s/c kit will work but I suspect it will with little difference but will find out next week.

When I first went about working on the exhaust I kept it simple and just did piggies and 2.5 inch exhaust based on input. Shoulda done dp’s I guess? Not very many dp options available for the allroad though.

I will do lw rotors when the brakes need replacing.

It would be interesting to know if the kit fit the all road. I would love to know that one.
Can’t the guys at jhm make you dps. I know they make other exhaust stuff in house.

The supercharger does cost more but with the recently tuned automatic b7 S4 stage 1 going 12.1@115 that’s hard to ignore. I think the plus sides to the blower are.

It fixes a lot of current issues that are already issues on the car.
The pcv system gets changed with the blower kit
The OEM crank pulley and tensioner
The oil cooler alone is big bucks that gets replaced.
Obviously the tune
The stock injectors fail every so often they get replaced.

And the bonus of the blower being there all the time and never running out. I have a nitrous fill station at my disposal when ever I want it so filling the bottles isn’t a big deal. There both great choices when you do the math on all the parts that get changed or upgraded with the blower kit the price difference starts to even out.

Good insight and thanks for breaking it down. I will ask them about fabbing some dps. Also the s/c kit in auto trans trim needs gets a trans cooler for nominal fee.

And you are right that by the time I added up what I wanted including nitrous, im, crank pulley and tunes is when Jake threw out the idea of the s/c and factoring in bottle after bottle the expense of the nitrous setup would exceed that of the s/c over time. I had a s/c mk IV vr6 jetta and loved it. Wish I never sold it

I guess I liked idea of the spray and the quick kick it would provide down low.

I’m glad some in site of mine might be helpful that’s what I was trying to do. I want to try and give you as much food for thought as I can. Like I said you will be happy either way it’s hard to go wrong. The low end grunt will come from the tune and the LW parts helping the car get up and out.

I don’t love the 5 speed auto transmission as much as the 6 speed but if your transmission has the exact same gear ratio as the 2.7t that’s an awesome gear ratio and the car should have some real potential.

Explore the blower idea and see what all would be possible. You have a lot of options and the jhm guys are the best at this so see what drops in your lap.

I think after agonizing over options, if we find out the s/c wont work, i may just keep it simple with tunes and bolt on bits like im and lw crank pulley. Maybe see what more can be fabbed for the exhaust and forgo the nitrous for time being.
