Cars you would like to see JHM's 3.0 go against

Random thought came to me while driving. Subject says it all, what cars would you like to see the JHMs 3.0 go against, especially if they keep putting work into it. We already got the Stage 2 3.0 beating out a B6 Stage 2 1.8.

Personally I would like to see any of the following:
-C5 2.8T Stage 1 and see where it goes from there.
-C5 4.2
-B5 S4 Any Stage

We talking just audis? What’s a c5 2.8T?? I wanna see a stage3 3.0 (when that’s released) run a bone stock b6s4.

Some other benchmark cars in my mind to beat are: current gen v6 mustang/camaro, acura tl, nissan 350z, bmw 330i.

And somewhat related… it’s pretty darn fun to put a few car lengths on a new bmw 328i that is being test driven, with just an ecu and tcu tune… While vacationing in mexico :stuck_out_tongue:

Meant to say 2.7T. Also any manufacturer. I was just concentrated on those so we could possibly put a foot in the mouths of all the 3.0 haters 8)

Haha gotcha, keep it in the family :stuck_out_tongue:

The 3.0 improvement is a whole different ball game. I think a fast n/a 3.0 is a big wow factor for a lot of people. Definitely has impressed a few people in my local Audi community.

I love the 3.0 and Im super excited to see how well JHMs car did.

I think I Would like to see it go up Vs a 4.2 A6. At this point we know were faster then a 1.8T stage 2 it would be nice to be faster then a stage 3 1.8T but keatons car would have had to be faster then say 14.8 and thats no tall tale when your coming from a 16.2-16.0 car.

I think my end goal would be to get my car into the 13.8 range or basically the range of a stock S4. Considering Im probably a 16.8 car now… that might be steep but we will see what JHM has for us.

Well I do know that one will be going up against one, may be two, 304 5.0L V8’s!

stock B5 S4
stage 1 B5 S4
every possible 1.8T configuration (stock, tuned, tuned + exhaust, K04, GT)

Ditto, although I’ll settle for 13.9 :stuck_out_tongue:

2.0T stock
2.0T chipped

I’ve had plenty of seat time in them, and I am really impressed with how they use the power - especially when chipped!

2.0 stock = no problem.

2.0 chipped = FWD a3 with a custom tune… Even up to about 40mph then it pulled solidly on me. Didn’t have the TCU at the time though.

Those were both A3’s? I’ve never driven the 2.0T without quattro.

No, first was a tiptronic a4 quattro, 2nd was a dsg a3.

a3 2.0T is pretty zippy… a good tune on those makes a big difference

I say stick with B5/6 cars. Don’t take on the B7…no real win doing that. Just going to annoy B7 guys. They’re also double the price so it’s not really a relevant comparison, and would make JHM look bad for poking the hornet’s nest with a stick.

Instead, compare to similar cars cost and age wise…and see how it goes.

so again, stock and stage 1 B5 S4
every possible 1.8T configuration

also, stock B6 S4 tiptronic (since most of these 3.0 cars seem to be tiptronic…and because the B6 tip is pretty gettable) and if you get close/do well, stock B6 S4 manual.

I should retract my statement about never driving a 2.0T non quattro. I’ve had very limited driver’s seat time in a MKV GTI, both stock and chipped.

Saki - I see your point, and as valid as it is, I don’t think many B7 guys even have the 3.0 on their radar, let alone realize it has a growing market… I could be wrong, as I don’t frequent those forums much at all. But I’m curious since my mom has had 2 B7 2.0T’s, and I had a trial chip in one of them. Plus have driven other chipped 2.0T Q’s.

Good point saki, one step at a time right? hahah. Only reason I’ve had experience with the b7 guys is because our local audi club has a decent number of them. We are planning to do a drag race day, which would give me opportunity to run against a lot of the cars you mentioned. That won’t happen until springtime… Should be interesting though! There is like every possible combination of 1.8T (stage 1, 2, 3, bat, almost all in both tip and manual)

I just think if a 3.0 beats a 2.0 its not going to be seen as a ‘you’re a great benchmark we respect, so we want to see where we stack up’

Its going to be seen as ‘fuck you 2.0 guys…we’re better’

Showing it against other b6 a4s makes a ton of sense…and showing it against a b6 s4 also is a relevant benchmark as its also a b6.

The races vs 1.8t is a ‘fuck you we’re coming for you’ move but that’s cool because its already on, that battle.

The races vs b5 s4 might get contentious too lol but I just want to see it as its another good benchmark…with tune exhaust, the 3.0 rivals the S4 from 2 years earlier’. That’s cool.

I’m pickin up what you’re puttin down.

a stock B6 S4 is like high 13’s right?

yup

13.8 is pretty normal…but many run slower due to driver or bad conditions

bangoman ran 13.8 stock 2x…solid driving (his 10th and 11th passes of the day) in good conditions at da zeroish
mags had it 13.5 to 14.0
