Cat is ALMOST out of the bag....

Powerful … but hideous!

under the CTS-V hood with the plastic covers on … not bad.

just to compare what it could have… and SHOULD have looked like.

There is the only other LSA engine GM has in production. This one from the Camaro ZL1

this blower is SEXY!!

The one on the cts-v is flat, shapeless, boring… like Kate Hudson

Its like comparing Kate Hudson vs Kate Upton

^ ROFL!

lol thats awesome!!!

I actually laughed out loud when I saw saki’s bbq comparison photo!

As for the boost gauge, mine goes into the negatives. I think all engines have vacuum no?

I personally think it goes to 0 and no lower because it’s dumbed down for the casual driver. People expect to see numbers no lower than 0. Otherwise, they’d be asking all sorts of “Is this normal?” questions.

Your speed starts at 0, your revs start at 0, your gas starts at 0, etc. It only makes sense to keep things looking the same and avoid confusion.

Well, that’s my take on it. I might be completely wrong though.

Bora, congrats. Get a good winter tire and you won’t have a problem, I drive my old M5 and the S600 all winter.

kPa is an absolute pressure unit, 0 kPa = full vacuum. I don’t know if anyone notices but I may be the only person who actually specifies “psi” or “psig” on the forums, since it’s a pretty big difference where I work. Lol, wonder if GM got that right?

Jesus, look at the hose placement on the ZL1. American engineering at it’s finest…spend lots of time on the plastic cover design, then place critical hoses right in front of the accessory belt with no support bracket.

hey, I use psi/psig as well

Bora,

Cars going to be a beast! Get some winter tires on the badboy and practice throttle control over the winter so when we hit the strip in April you’ll be all set.

I think the V has launch control. Pretty effective launch control if I remember correctly.

i.e. 1.9 second 60 foot on street tires rather than 2.2 etc.

Yea I think you’re right on some of the newer ones, I’m just wasn’t sure what year that became effective (or maybe it was from the getgo). I wonder if any of the tuners offer the same?

Also Bora, did you go for 2 or 3 pedals? I’m pretty surprised how few the manual variants are, but I know Caddy is looking at their core sales market and building them on that basis. But the old V only came in manual, so pretty big jump (but that could be said for the whole car lol).

its auto :frowning:

I have to check with the LC the 2009 MAY NOT have it. But im still scouring forums. I need to find a V revolution site! lol

I have been looking for a “reasonably” priced 2009 V since last march!!

Not only did i NEVER see a manual for sale… i never see more than two to four 2009 V’s on trader at any given time! and im looking nation wide (in Canada)

But the auto shifts fast as hell! I was talking to Axel about that tranny last sunday. I initially thought it was a dual clutch but i think i was mistaken since it has a torque converter (if i understood Axel correctly it cand be a dual if it has a tq convertor)

In other news i drove the car again tonight. Only this time i grew some balls and took off traction control completely!!

OMFG!

Thats all i have to say about that! :o

You have a fast 8E. Well, Mistro does

Just a side note on something i noticed tonight.

First time i tried the car it was digitally showing my speed in the center DIS area.

Tonight the settings were changed so i had to glance at the needle. People who have had speed bikes will appreciate this a bit more perhaps

Its almost impossible to tell how fast your going!! lol

Look at the gap between the numbers! And out of that WHOLE guage… i really only get to use the first 1/3 LOL

Man im in trouble!

That was one of the things I really liked about our cars when I first test drove one. The fact that the scaling was split so that the 100kph I’m normally whithin were on the left and the other 210kph that I’d probably use at most 50 of was on the right.

Yeah, it seems like it’s just a normal automatic.

From Edmund’s:

"Powertrains and Performance

A supercharged 6.2-liter V8 powers the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, sending a whopping 556 hp and 551 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted shift buttons is optional. In performance testing, an automatic-equipped CTS-V catapulted to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and flew through the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 114.7 mph."

Edit: So it would seem you’re now in Mistro territory.
Bear would still kick your ass though.

Mistro vs ctsv!

Wierd feeling today.

Sad to let the S go… but happy to get the V
