Just finished installing the modded center diff… man those diff casing bolts are a pain in the ass to deal with, mostly the top one. Love the way the car accelerates out of turns now.

I was searching a lot today, came across this and thought it was cool cuz I’ve been wanting one of these for awhile but didn’t know if they made them for our cars. Anyways just thought I’d share.

With the center diff mod, more power is sent to the rear wheels so you can create slight oversteer as opposed to audi’s notorious understeer. The oversteer will become more apparent as more power is added to the car. Apparently the modified diff also sends more power to the front wheels when braking hard into a turn, but I won’t be able to fully test it until I take it out to an autox. This mod probably isn’t worth it unless you track or autox the car. I don’t autox it often, but I do have something in my head that tells me I should turn this car into a dedicated track car some day. For now I have the e30 318is for that.
LED shift knobs? Yucky imo. JHM will paint the pattern on top of their shift knob any color you want if you ask them. I got mine painted silver to match the ultrasport fish scale interior trim.

Thanks. I’m so glad I had access to a lift for that job. I’m definitely gonna be using that lift for the downpipes R&R as well. Hopefully my center diff core refund will cover most or all of the cost of the new downpipes.

Why someone would think a base model car is better than a model above is beyond me. FI or not. I don’t even care what the 1.8t guys have to say about the 3.0 anymore. All that was ever needed for the 3.0 was a legit company to do a proper build and now that has happened, game over if you ask me so nothing else need be said. Time will show what we already know and they can keep crying all they want it won’t change the facts.

What you guys are going through is what the b6/7 4.2 guys went through. The 2.7T guys HATED the chance that the new model would have any success, so they used to say ‘NA tunes won’t do shit’ and 'you’ll never get out of the 13s.
Well, in 3 short years, we got a B6/7 into the 12s in 09, into the low 12s in 2010, into the 11s in 2011, and 91GL appears set to hit the 10s in 2012.
So fuck the haters…it will always be prevalent. If they want to come to the 3.0 threads and have a reasonable debate about what is or isn’t possible, or if they want to help, that’s great. But if all they want to do is shit on the 3.0 like that jackoff, just to placate his own sense of insecurity because someone else’s B6 might be getting quicker, just tell him to stuff it.

I looked at doing this as well, but the cost is just astronomical out here so canned it. I dont think Aus built any manual 3.0 so I am shit out of luck.

Yeah, just the fact that it’s “my” car and I don’t really wanna leave it. That’s a possibility though, I just have over a year to finish paying off mine. Shit, by then I could probably trade it for a 6 speed. Idk I would do the swap before I get rid of her. I’m going to piece it together slowly so it’s not one big chuck of change.
