Turbo ideas always sound better on paper If you ask me.
My thoughts are after looking at the failure of the Turbos on the 1.8T cars and then the 2.7T guys why would we want to go through all that mess. Seem spool is going to be an issue.
I look at it as
A 2.7T punched up to a 3.0 with big turbos tons of money in supporting mods struggles to get into the mid 11’s
Yet
A 3.0 with a TVS supercharger (stock) can just have a chip and exhaust and go in the 11’s
so while there will always be the B5 die hard guys (1.8T & 2.7T) that think turbo tubo turbo… History seems to show… blower blower blower.
On top of all that placement of the turbo then the lines hoses fittings would just be a train wreck
So I’m guessing the twin turbo experiment went a little awry and remains very much side project status? Which isn’t a big deal since the S/C program seems to be going well.
Random observation: Hey Meistah you’re the only person other than me that I’ve noticed with some negative karma!
Hahaha knowing my luck, I’ll spend 8 hours under the car, break a whole bunch of shit, find out I have tiny manifolds, THEN come on here and Keaton will have released the DPs!!!
I don’t think GT 2.7T with built motors bored out to 3.0 ‘struggle’ to get into the mid 11s. There are 2.7T cars in the mid 11s on pump gas without a built block. The built block GT cars that are running well are low 11s on race gas, with a couple in the 10s, comfortably I might add. The B8 S4 is lightyears away from this, and that TVS1320 won’t go any further because it is pretty much at the limit with high 11s times on race gas, full bolt ons, smaller pulley, test pipes, catback, intake, cooling system etc. The ‘struggle’ with the B5 is getting them to not break down on the way to the strip etc. but they can run plenty fucking fast enough to make a B8 S4 look like it’s standing still.
We still haven’t seen a stage III B5 lose to a B8 S4…and there have been a ton of races. These stage III cars are OTS K04 or FT kits for the most part i.e. low 12s cars. I haven’t seen a really fast B5 run a B8 yet, but if we do, I guarantee the B5 will kill it. Don’t forget that primetime is one guy running 11.79 or whatever it was, on race gas. If you want to see some B5 times on race gas, go to S4biturbo
I mean Jaybquick ran 11.1 on K04 turbos on race gas. A few other guys are down there low 11s as well. Going from 11.79 or 11.9 to 11.1 or 11.3 is a collossal achievement. The B8 still has a ways to go.
I know you weren’t really saying that, more you were arguing for the merit of superchargers vs. turbos…and AFTERMARKET, I would whole heartedly agree. but just thoguht I’d pop in with some info.
p.s. I don’t know but personally I don’t think anyone will touch Bluerocket’s car. 4.2 built motor and two very large turbos. It’s going to be a bit ridiculous I’m afraid. Maybe 91GL will have a shot, but bluerocket will be smiling with a full interior and his stereo on with the air conditioning running RIDICULOUS times.
absolutely not (gone awry). It’s just tough because they are going to make so much power, they need a built motor. Since NOBODY has built a 4.2, you have to be the trailblazer in JHM’s case. Unfortunatley blazing this trail isn’t like chopping the odd tree down. It’s like trying to cut through a forest with the density of the Amazon and trees as stout as NorCal Redwoods. Very uphill battle. They’re making great progress, but it’s very tough.
The good news is they’re resesigning the block from the ground up so it will be fantastic. Hopes are they’ll have some potential fixes for scored wall engines as well, as a result of this research. We all need to thank BlueROcket and 91GL for their patience in sticking with it. Lesser men would have said FUCK THIS GIVE ME MY CAR BACK a long time ago.
you know what? I noticed your negative karma. I was thinking about the karma thing. It has two options, APPLAUD and SMILE. I was thinking, maybe someone just liked one of your posts and clicked SMILE not thinking it was negative.
Turns out it’s not SMILE…it’s SMITE! I bet that’s what happened.
^^ saki you now have one too (it wasn’t me I promise!). I can’t remember the thread or the reply but I think it was me saying that a fast B8 time was interesting because it was at Cayuga.
The built TT vs built S/C’d engine will be pretty cool though. Want pics of said hole!
Do you get different choices on plate designs as well over there
Along with personal numbering we can also have custom plate designs like different colors or football teams we can even get euro style plates which I will be running when my car is back on the road. This is all done through the motor registry.
I just went with a standard Florida plate. I have a golf one on there and it costs an extra 30 dollars a year. So it’s 15 a year for the custom, then x amount for a different plate. So around 45-50 bucks EXTRA just for a different plate.
I wanted ZINGO on the Tampa bay rays plate (my fav baseball team) but it was already taken, and that plate can only be 5 letters
