Yeeeep, considering it costs a lot more than my car and makes a fair bit more power than mine stock (14.7 1/4 mile?). He floored it a couple seconds before me, nose came up to my front passenger side door, then we were even, then I pulled away.
Test drove an S4 again today, lol. This one was black on black with all the options I wanted, they let me take it on my own for an hour or so, which was awesome… I then went to the dealership across the street and test drove a new 335i. Are there different driving modes on the S4?
I ask this because I hate to say it but the 335i put a pretty big grin on my face after I drove it (sport mode, t/c off, sales guy showed me this awesome long windy road near the dealership). It felt way more responsive and torquey than the S4, but after the initial excitement wore off I assumed it was because I was driving the S4 in a non-sport mode.
That being said the dealership does stasis stuff, so I could get a hassle free (albeit conservative) tune ;D
TQ curve on the 335 is monstrous with two quick spooling turbo’s and it’s lighter than the S4 with better weight balance, so that probably explains the “more responsive” part. Find a 335 with a chip and it’ll really put a grin on your face haha.
yea the torque is ridiculous! I googled it when I went home, and seeing how much more power and torque it gets with a decent tune I can’t imagine how it would drive! Oh and the actual drive itself is awesome, it’s such a drivers car. I felt like I was jeremy clarkson commenting when I drove it lol.
That being said I would like to drive an S4 in its proper performance mode (if there is one?) to make an accurate comparison.
Yea, it’s definitely a better car on paper, and I loved it. I’m going to go back today and try it again lol because I can’t sleep at night knowing the 335 put a bigger smile on my face.
it’s about 1200’ of vertical from the top of the headwall to the base of the ravine, roughly 45*-55* slopes depending on the conditions… its for when double blacks get boring lol
Anyone ever tried jumping between 3+ octane points with a tune? I normally fill up 94, but I had to put in 91 as I was low on fuel and there was no Chevron nearby.
I actually felt like the car was driving better at first, but I think it was just because the performance is so noticeably lower that the engine isn’t working nearly as hard. it shifts “smoother” (I need new trans mounts) but less aggressively, the engine response seems “smoother” (also needs new engine mounts lol) but it doesn’t feel as fast.
Your fine. The ECU will adapt if it hasnt seen 93 yet. If you run 93 for a while the ECU sets all the profiles and such to make power on 93. When you switch to 91 without first resetting the ECU, it will still run on the 93 profile and it could knock.
Just make sure when you switch to 93, go into VAG-COM and clear the codes-this resetting it.
Use the same process whoever you switch octane at all. Count says to do this for switching to race gas as well. Add gas, reset ECU, and drive the hell out of it so it sets the proper profiles.
