Close?.......But No Banana

West on the other hand, that’s pure fun, all the way around good times! I actually enjoy his trolling, I liked it on AZ too.

There isn’t any reason to run them both. Octane wise it’s not making any difference and cooling wise the race gas pulls out heat much more then pump fuel. The car probably would have been faster without running both.

methanol injection will absolutely help keep iat’s down even with race gas. the problem is that skywagon has no idea how much meth is being injected or done any type of testing with it to see what would be the optimal mixture.

i know on my 93 tune i only run 1 nozzle and on the e85 mix i needed 2 nozzles

Saxon have you ever thought about the reason why you “need” two nozzles for you E85 mix?

I’m really not well versed on the E85 subject, but I feel it may be due to your “mix” being too E85 heavy. Probably making your car run leaner, increasing combustion chamber temps, and requiring cooler IATs.

If that is the case, what is your point of playing with E85 if your car runs fine on 93 plus one nozzle of meth? Is it cost savings thing? or do you fell like you’re making more power?

I’ve always been under the assumption that most convert to straight E85 to eliminate the use of meth systems.
IMO it’s just too many variables and E85 can be pretty inconsistent.

Yup, definitely shouldn’t need two nozzles for e85 mix. seems people throw meth at cars willy nilly though.

As far as e85 consistency goes, you are right, buying e85 you can get quite the spread in ethanol content, and the blend never really remains consistent through the seasons. Cool thing is you can very easily measure ethanol content of gasoline.

Ethanol is hygroscopic, it will absorb and blend with water very well. Petroleum fuel however does not mix with water. If oyu have ever seen a fuel leak in the rain, you see the oil like rainbow, that is gasoline floating on water because it will not mix.

Knowing that, you can take a 10cc vile, put 1cc of water in there, and 9 cc of e85 in there.

Shake it up, and then let it sit for a minute, the water and ethanol will separate from the petroleum based fuel and you can very easily see the split, say for example 7cc’s are water and 3 cc’s of fuel are floating up top

then subtract the original water put into it, 7-1 and you have 6cc ethanol/9cc of e85 put in. so you know you have roughly 67% ethanol content, you can adjust how much you add to your mixture to get consistency.

I think one of the harder things is mixing fuel direct, since you never know how much you need. When I mix I always just do it in a spare fuel tank, that way Its premixed and I don’t end up putting too much of either fuel into the tank directly. Plus its better mixed this way.

i shouldnt have said needed, more along the lines that the 104 octane tune has enough timing that i dont lose power , actually gained power with meth injection in combination due to the way the ecu works with iats.

e85 cools combustion greatly but because the ecu cant see this it relies on iat etc to guess at the timing needed. when running meth my iats are significantly lower so i get more timing.

You went 11.9 right?

Is that in our list? What was the modlist?
