Jesus christ dude, what kind of proof do you need that hasn’t already been posted? For fucks sake just sell your car and go somewhere else already. If anything you have contribute to the B8 S4 platform it is what not to do with it.
NO! There are several people on this sight that have tremendous knowledge. Most prefer to flame with vulgarities, like you. Of course you you could make me. Ooops, can’t do that when hiding behind a key broard. Your courage is awesome. Merry Christmas.
Sky you ha email one foot out the door. Just take a step back and know that the frustration people have is just that they want to help but you think differently. Each step the same people saying stuff to you have asked you to do things to help yourself so these things won’t happen. You might not or you might appreciate the opportunity some are trying to help you with. You can not like what some of the guys that you feel are insulting are saying but they are all sending the same message and that’s that you need to listen. There are hundreds of guys just like you. Some of them listen and succeed others resistance keeps them slow and miserable.
Just take a step back and read what all the attacks have in common and then think maybe there is a theme here. The same guys who you think don’t like you are the same guys who helped you get this fast and will help you get to your goals. Add in Primetime and you have a real good team trying to help you. Even if some on the team seem less nice then others.
You make it sound like I go to the strip every weekend and I can apply all the suggestions, which I have agreed to try instantaneously. I’ve only been to the strip four times with this car and I am still learning. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. Well maybe I’m not? If I get evicted from this site so be it. I will write what ever I want until the day that occurs. If this is a fascist site then obviously I don’t need to be here. Merry Christmas.
“Wheel spinning is killing me. I even tried to clean them off like the big boys and they spun, then they spun again immediately after cleaning them doing the launch. Changing pressure didn’t seem to make any difference with the spinning either. This was my fourth visit to this track, first time I ever spun a wheel. Was running 104 Octane, REVO tuned to race gas. Also have Euro Code headers. I guess I have too much power?”
" I never wrote anything about speed. We all know ET is what matters in a 1/4 mile. With no wheel spin and the stars aligned zero wheel spin causes a brutal launch. With wheel spin it is nowhere near as quick. Some write my 60 foot times are great, they’d be better with zero spin…period!"
"The wheel spin was so bad it caused short shifting which I overcame by locking the trasmission in 1st gear until it upshifted to second and then going sport. Revo DSG tune will upshift automatically 1st to 2nd despite being locked in manual at about 7000 RPM
I’d greatly appreciate it if you gents did not get pissy with me! It’s counter productive. If you insist on saying wheel spin makes no difference you are dead wrong."
“If I had no wheel spin my 60 foot times would be even better! Can we agree on that? Maybe I could set a record for the 60 feet? However, that’s not my goal. Under 11 seconds is!”
“It’s not “a small amount of wheel spin” It’s a lot!!! I was there.”
“The hole in the hood is fine, despite your childish flaming. It’s my car, I’ll drive it off a cliff if I want. The fine tread on my Michelin pilot SS’s is almost gone, 11k on them. I think that contributed to my wheel spin. I’ll put on new tires on before my next 1/4 mile test, January.”
“Here are two pictures of my tires, left front, 11k on it. A brand new rear, zero miles. What do you think?”
“The 1/4 mile is the proving ground. I asked a gent if he had tire spin. He said he didn’t know…I guess not! My tires a re slipping badly at the line during launch and all I get is I’m told I’m wrong, it makes no difference. I assume most have seen the real dragsters run the 1000 ft. The guy that smokes his tires always looses. My loss of efficiency is no where near that, obviously, but I’m loosing time at the line.”
“Shoot, I’m still waiting for proof headers don’t work!”
“Thanks. So, Primetime changed out headers in the middle of the day and ran the same car on the same track? I sure didn’t see that but the thread is 17 pages long.”
“You don’t have a clue what your writing about. I’m the OP, if you don’t like what I write don’t open the thread children.”
“What does your S4 turn in the 1/4 mile?”
“Please correct me if I’m wrong. You were turning 12.8 at Coastal?”
“Just saw this post. So that is what you call proof? We all know Primetime has a fast car. You must know there are numerous variables. One car with headers and one without is far from any real research justifying a complete flaming of headers.”
“I’ll try and get it done before my next strip visit because I don’t want to go there and obtain the same disappointing results. I’ll leave everything as it is for one run and plug the hole and turn off the meth for another.”
“You sound like a broken record…you are not God. Please repeat that to yourself 1000 times, but I doubt it will help?”
“NO!”
“You make it sound like I go to the strip every weekend and I can apply all the suggestions, which I have agreed to try instantaneously.”
It’s hard to believe that despite all of the helpful posts being made about trap speed/top end being shit…and about the 60-330 times being fine…he still focuses on the tires for 10 posts in a row.
I missed the part where he referenced the headers as a power maker. lulzeroo!
I just realized I wasn’t even a member of this forum until August. Headers installed in March. So all this alleged advice about headers I supposedly received here simply does not exist. That is a simple fact!
I’m just quoting your posts here. I ignored your own ad hominem attacks and just listed all of your responses to all the suggestions from this thread. If you look at them holistically you can understand the source of frustration. The most glaring item for me was that you looked into your tire tread being the cause of your wheel spin and posted photo evidence of such instead of the more obvious reason being that they were summer tires on a 30 degree track. They could have factory stickers still on them and spin.
Personally you keep asking me what my quarter mile time is (ironically like a broken record) and it’s very frustrating because it is a red herring to an argument. I have gone to the track once and got a 12.6 109mph trap with stage 1 software and nothing else. But that is irrelevant. It’s like me asking you what your fastest box 0-60 time is as if you having a slower time would refute all previous statements.
I think you’re just bored and having fun, this HAS to be the case. At least you sort of listen to Primetime.
You have 25 profile 295 wide tires on the rear and were running them at 40+psi. If you wanted to eliminate wheel spin this is the first place to look. Maybe a wider tire is better looking and could have better corner traction, but it’s kind of like an oversized exhaust, it could be hurting other areas of performance. Maybe a super low profile tire could be more responsive, but it could be hurting other areas of performance.
From your posts you are hellbent on having the fastest S4 as some kind of justification, the sad fact is everyone replying here is trying to help you achieve that. But you have a lot of vitriol that holds you back and obscures the truth. The personal attacks came out of frustration and response from your own sardonic, arrogant, dismissive posts.
But you know this already. You know everything you need to know.
The simple fact is many of the same members you fight here were on the AZ boards when you were fighting them about the headers. Your argument is flawed.
“Sir, are you running any mods on your car? Personally I found the APR Stage II, ECU and pulley, to be very effective! I have seen 15.9 PSI boost since their install. Thanks.”
I plan on a week from Friday, June 12. Been out of town too much. All the problems have been corrected and I still have 5 gallons of 102 octane ready to burn. The down side is the normal hot humid NC days are now upon us. I was advised that the CEL also added to my problems with the launch control failures. If interested my best time was 12.68. The lack of the ECU tune definitely hurt performance. Also, without the tune, I was getting only 375 HP at the wheels on the dyno, another disappointment. Got to get back to them too…soon! Thanks."
“How does an S4 make 375 HP at the wheels without a tune?”
“West, because it has numerous other modifications and I’d wager the APR pulley helped considerably!”
“West, actually you are wrong. First, the wheels are 20x9 and 20x10s. Second, I actually weighed them and they are 2 lbs heavier than stock, the bigger back ones. Third, it was confirmed my APR tune had been washed. Fourth, the Brembo brake rotors weigh less than stock. Fifth, I don’t believe a thing, nor does anyone else on this web site, except for 1/4 mile times which I hope to hell are in the 11’s next week!”
“If and when I run at a track again I’d put my stock 19s back on? To be honest I’m uncertain if they will clear the Brembo Brakes?”
“I actually put my mouth up to a stock BMW cat some time ago and blew as hard as I could.”
“There are simply too many variables in drag racing, operator technique, weather and the car it’s self, to really make an explanation for your times. Just keep going back and trying.”
“I’m running PSS on my S4, about 10,000 on them and look good.”
“Gents, please don’t forget this is a dreaded 2014 B8.5 with taller gears in the DSG. As I wrote, 4400 RPM using launch control and no real drop of RPM at brake release is, IMO, the key. Zero wheel spin. Of course 395’s in the back may be helping some there? Thanks.”
“The 2014’s have a problem with the APR tune, nothing more or less.”
“After APR refused to return my money I’ve lost all respect for them. The first time I did a 0-60 with a fully loaded car it did it in 4.17 seconds. Several months latter 4.47 seconds and an empty car. The 8.5s are some how dumbing down the APR tune?”
“Same dyno, same day. APR 328 HP, purged, REVO installed with DSG tune as well. 351 HP. 2014 S4.”
"Honestly, I think Audi is simply dumbing down the car, making it more difficult to tune. "
“It’s my car, my hood, my money. Rings are going nowhere. You all love to bash but most don’t have the balls to do a thing to your car! Heck, you probably bite your nails,…”
“I have APR Stage II. It doesn’t work. Best I’ve seen is 12.67”
“OK folks, here are the facts…I think? Car flashed in Jan. Car then goes in for Audi 5k regular service at Audi dealer. Went to Audi dealer just a couple of hours ago and talked to tech. He insists, and I believe him, all he did was the oil change and cleared out a couple of fault codes. He never hooked car to the Audi network. Then took car to dyno, 375 AW HP, 354 lbs torque. Then went to drag strip, 12.67 best time. Density alt. about 1200 ft. Cool night but low barometer. Unhappy, took it back to APR dealer. Here is where the confusion lies…probably my fault. I thought they said the APR tune had been washed. I guess I was wrong??? Car re flashed. Took it back to strip. 12.68 with a DA of 2000 ft. Car has been re flashed twice since. Hear is my problem/opinion. The 1/4 mile times are the times…period! However, after every flash the car seems to have tremendous torque which diminishes over several days. Just drove it today, low end torque OK but not what it’s like after a re-flash. Is it because it’s a B 8.5? I certainly don’t know. I can’t prove or disprove a thing. Thanks.”
“Folks, just to be clear…my car has APR Stage II, APR CPS, Roc Euro intake, Eurocode headers, Miltek resonated exhaust. I also ran 104 octane both times at the track. I was drag racing before you whippersnappers were born…I know how to do it. If it’s one thing I know about it’s DA. If you aren’t aware of it in an airplane you could kill yourself.”
“Arin, I know all about density altitude. The first time I ran the car was after the dealer did a 5k service and washed out your tune. DA 1200 ft. The second time I ran it, after a re-flash, the times were identical. DA 2000 ft. So you are telling me re-flashes are worthless?”
“Arin, whether the 8.5 DSG shift at a lower RPM, which they do, is irrelevant in my case. The times are identical for my car without the flash as with. My runs were done on the same track as well.”
“I ran 104 but since I have B8.5, 2014, I can’t select anything. I’ve been told that despite no select-ability it does make a difference, and I agree.”
“The best time I ever got after my Audi dealer washed my APR Stage II tune was 12.68, 107 mph. The best time I ever got after the car was re-flashed was 12.67, 107 mph. Both times running 104 octane, APR CPS, Roc Euro intake, Eurocode headers and Miltek resonated exhaust. I have a problem.”
“Half you folks jumping in here don’t have a clue what is really going on.”
