Clutch recommendations

You can’t go wrong with either one. If you plan on keeping the car long term. spend the few extra dollars and get the 3r. I have to be honest. I have doubled down on my car and after getting a chance to ride in a few JHM supercharged S4s. There is no other car like it and with all these cars nowadays only coming in automatic the manual car is going to have extra value and enjoyment.

Keep in mind. The more aggressive the compound the quicker it will ware. So in theory a 3r will ware faster than a 1r. I say in theory… how much quicker is debatable. but on the other hand a 3r will last longer than a 1r if you get a supercharger.

I don’t know if that makes sense.

No that makes perfect sense. I plan on keeping the car long term its paid for…lol. I’m honestly curious to know if there is a driving feel difference between then two. That would be the deciding factor for me. I have about a month to month and a half before I have to make a choice, so time is on my side.

That would be hard for me to say. I know the 5r is very aggressive. I would still say that even if you did go 1r it should still be good for a stage 1 JHM supercharger. The JHM supercharger power is linear like the NA power band its strong constant acceleration not a sudden blast like a roots style where it dies up top or a turbo where its dead down low and then blasts all at once.

I can only comment on the 3R, and as mentioned in my supercharger thread, to me its almost the same feel as OEM. I guess the best way to describe it is, well mannered. I was surprised by how smooth and mild the clutch pedal and engagement felt. Agree, the 1R will handle the power of the JHM Stage 1 charger. My OEM clutch, given I never abused it, coped with the Stage 1 but the 1+ blew it out of the park.

I very well might get the 3R, if something doesn’t pop up in the next month. One way or another it will be a 1R or 3R.

From what RS4fan said at this point I would have a hard time telling you to get the 1r. Not that the 1r isn’t great but from the sounds of it the 3r is a very good bridge between oem and race.

That was my thought. Honestly I don’t think I can go wrong with either one. Now if I was thinking 5r, that would be a whole different story.

You gotta supercharge! these cars are too slow as NA

I talked with jake yesterday. He recommended the 1R if I didn’t have any plans of going supercharged. I did ask him if there was any difference in feel between the 1R and 3R, he said not really. He did say the 3R was just more durable. So for the small price difference I will just order the 3R in the next week or two. I’m back where I was before, I just a more confirmation of what I was thinking before.
