Control Arm kits S6

clunks are hard to track down. You need to preload the car and try different siuations to see if you can get it to happen in a repeatable fashion. It could be the CV but you can check the play when you re look at the suspension

how much did that kit cost? Can you not just replace the bushings if they fail rather than replacing perfectly good arms?

Yes you can but then you have to press them out, press them in. And finding a shop isn’t hard to do it but to drive there even your car is apart is.

yeah i think i might have some worn bushings at the front on mine, so i might just leave it in somewhere to get them replaced

Here’s the uppers, they were the worst. Probably could have only replaced them.
The sway bar links were getting bad.

The kit was $599, from Premium Auto on Ebay, shipping included. Included all new hardware. From everything I read the Meyle stuff is of good quality.
Yes you could just replace the bushings, I don’t have a press or access, thought about buying one, but chose the easy way out.
Very important to load the suspension before you tighten and final torque the mounting bolts.
Waiting for new RF axle from jim ellis to drive it, found a bad inner CV and I’m just going to replace the axle. I’ve rebuilt lots of joints in the past, it’s a pain and a mess, guess I’m getting old!

Wow good job replaceing those they really needed it. Those looked done

Guess which sway bar link came off the axle with the torn inner CV boot?

Yeah true, i see the kits on ebay and a lot cheap than from the dealers. I had a look at my bushings. Is there an s6 specific kit or just search for C6 4F sedan fitment?

Here is a bushing i think was worn, what arm is that?

It appears that the A6 and S6 kits are the same. Was difficult to find full kits for 2008 cars. Only a two or three. You can buy OEM for $1000, however I didn’t think the price difference was worth it after reading up on Meyle. That appears to be the drivers side(left) front upper rear arm. The upper arms are the ones that wear out first. If you have access to a press and want the lowest cost solution, just replacing those upper bushings would be a quick fix. Take a good look at the sway bar links, those were also failing. The lower arms appeared to still be in decent shape. All the ball joints appeared to be in decent shape as well, however it’s hard to tell sometimes. At least I feel good about the front suspension for the next 100K…now to address the CV joint, the trans fluid flush and filter change, the oil filter mount seals, carbon cleaning and new IM spacer…

Good point. It is best to just replace all the suspension stuff and supporting it. Its hard to tell just how long the suspension parts where that you changed. It would be nice to know if they have been changed before. Most of the time they dont make it that long.

As for the rest of the maintenance work. You will feel like you got a new car when your done. The transmission flush will be great and a carbon clean and intake manifold spacers will be just what the doctor ordered for a strong running car.

I see full meyle HD kits over here for about 500 euro so not too bad, I see other kits too lemforde, and I cant remember the other. Being close enough to Germany I should be able to get them cheap enough. I’ll do a proper inspection soon. I don’t have access to a press but access to a car scissors lift so could do the work myself. How much work is involved in replacing the whole control arm kit?

Just got the word that my lowers are going out.

Europaparts has the Meyle kit for 699.99 which other than ebay is cheapest. Has anyone ordered Ebay kits or have any experience with the ebay kit?

I picked up the Meyle kit on ebay, good price, good seller, no complaints at this point.

Long term meyle seems to hold up the best. Ebay kits are hit and miss. I not knowing the consistancy of the ebay kits can make it hard to really give a recomendation

Sorry didn’t mean to repost those picks…

Blauparts has the set for $556.49

debating on going with their set.

That’s a good price. Haven’t heard of the company but they sound like an oem.

They have been around for a while. Never really heard anything bad about them. From what I have see they made a solid product. I havnt tried them myself but I hear good results from others

I bought the Meyle HD kit for my S6 off ebay, the kit came from Poland and all the items were stamped that they were made in Germany, they looked the same as the OEM arms on the car and the guy who fitted them said they went on nicely with no need to force anything.

My understanding is that Lemforder is OEM but to my untrained eye I couldn’t see the difference between the old OEM parts and the new Meyle HD kit.

One month on and all is good, no nasty noises and the car is soo much more composed, I had the KW V3 coilover kit fitted at the same time and the transformation of the car’s handling is remarkable, oversteer has mostly gone and the car can be provoked into oversteer.
