So i was driving close by home picking up some food and start hearing some beeps and I see this red thermometer flashing, it says coolant something something, I couldn’t catch it fully since i was on the road, am looking at the temperature gauge and that still seems to be under normal operating temperature, so I drive another 5-8 minutes and reach home, pop the hood up and look to see the coolant is close to empty. I can hear some hissing (probably some coolant hitting some hot engine parts or exhaust.
Have the following questions.
-
Foremost, any chance i could have damaged the engine? I didn’t see the temperature gauge climb higher then normal operating temp and there is still some coolant albeit close to empty in the coolant reservoir.
-
How do i go about diagnosing this? I mean I have lost a lot of coolant and given the hissing sound, can i assume that the engine is not filled with coolant? anyways I am rambling… how would one go about diagnosing this issue.

In order to get on the ramps, I need to turn the engine on again, I can fill up the coolant reservoir and drive it up the ramps, this should be ok right?
Appreciate all the help i can get guys.
