Cracked the ECU - now able to port flash at every dealer around the world.

If you guys missed the fuss, we just announced we are able to port flash the Simos 8.5 ecu. That means no pulling the ECU just like the good old days.

It’s currently out (stage 1 and 2+ pulley) or the C7 A6, A7 and Q5 and we’re wrapping up the other models (B8.5 S4, B8.5 S5, A4, A5, Q7, A8 etc).

Fingers crossed this stays for a while. ; )

Saw it on QW… Congrats! Now get the damn blower done already… lol I have some RS4 times to chase ;D

DAMMMMM Gina thats gangsta.

Congratz

Do you ever. Going to be fun(ny) to sit and watch you and richi go after them.

at least ill have fun trying ;D

I’m surprised no one on AZ has complained that you released this on the same day that EPL announced their tune.

In any event, glad to see that shipping ECUs is no longer necessary.

I missed their release. I thought someone said they had it out a while ago or something?

^^ Ya I think a few guys had it before EPL officially announced it today.

Hey is that iPhone app still in the works? Seemed like a pretty cool feature.

Yeah, we picked back up on it, or well, something like it, with some new hires. S4 will not be the first platform though.

Any plans for the upgraded CPS for the facelift? I’d like an upgraded intercooler for stage 2.

BTW, it will cost me $750 extra to switch from GIAC to APR. If you can make a deal on a CPS kit and a pulley/tune I’d do it…

GIAC S1 ($1350) + Power play ($1,299)= $2,649
GIAC S1 ($1350) + GIAC S2= $1899

Are you within the 30 day money back period with them?

We are in the process of working out a CPS for the B8.5 platform. I don’t have an ETA for it yet, but it is on the table.

Oh no, I’ve had it awhile. But the point of my analysis was to show that your power play upgrade promotion only made sense when there was NOT an alternative stage 2 pulley upgrade product.

Now that GIAC has the goods, its almost like you need to court us specifically (vs. REVO or whomever).

Thanks for you reply.

I hear you loud and clear, but I don’t want to get into a race to the bottom on pricing. To the average customer, they will not care, but just do know the money we make goes towards investing in the future of tuning for the entire industry (even in ways some will never see on the outside). That’s not a speech to sway anyone, just more or less I hope people understand the money spent really helps us continue to grow, which in turn helps you too.

If I may brag for a moment, this week alone will see several new employees at APR. Engineering got new EE’s and calibrators. I got new marketing support. Sales got another. So did accounting and did production. We are literally out of space and adding another 48,000 square foot building to our existing 36,000 sqft facility. We are moving rapidly in every direction to ensure we can keep up with the demands brought upon us from new, more difficult platforms and so on.

Did I mention we are actively working on 5 supercharger systems and several turbo kits? Its hard to leave work each day without a huge sense of accomplishment on one platform or another.

Great stuff, Arin! REALLY looking forward to the timeslips for the 1740.

So am I, I just hope it’s not 100+ F and 100% humidity when I go.

I wholeheartedly agree. I just recently took my p-car to a shop that was more expensive than the one actively courting my race car build – but ended up going with the shop who is actively at the track supporting us. I see where the dollars go and like how I feel it benefits me paying for it.

In that regard, its still good to engage in market share wars. So if you want to sway stage 1 guys over who have a stage 2 alternative, you need to reprice the old offer. The way I see it, out with the old, in with the new pricing.

I’ll happily pay for an APR pulley and tune if its just a little closer to the upgrade price of my current tuner. $750 is a little steep.

Points taken.

they just told someone that they were stopping production of the tvs1320 b7 rs4 kit…

Did we ; - )

I remember seeing that on one of the forums (maybe on here). RS5 v. RS4 video would be awesome - DSG probably makes the difference there.
