anyone here have an experience or recommendations for vehicle dash cams? I was considering picking one up but I haven’t found much good info on the internet during my casual browsing.

All those models are of very good quality. HD (720p or 1080p) gps, accident clip features, motion sensors, etc etc. The DR series is great because it’s subtle and barely noticeable tucked away near the rearview mirror.

the ones i posted are all hd, crazy image quality. They are really popular here in vancouver with all the insurance scam crap people pull. Also have seen some interesting clips of dealerships skipping parts in maintenance when people take their car in. The guy who owns that company had a recording of his car going in for an oil change, and the oil not being changed lmao.
I have always wanted to get one ever since someone backed into me at a light and I got screwed by his insurance company. I have a good friend who is in a police academy and he says they are a good thing to have to protect your butt from getting screwed. It’s also good if an accident occurs in front of/or near you. You can be a good Samaritan and lend the footage to the police and the involved parties insurance company so everyone gets treated fairly.
The only down side about them is if you decide to street race or do excessive speeds, it had better be off, because if you get pulled over, an officer can confiscate it as evidence. At least in Illinois. On the other side, you will always catch your best street run-ins on film.

I’m looking for HD, small enough to mount behind the mirror, other features would be nice but I’m primarily concerned with recording any on the road incidents.

Just left him a VM. Might be able to swing you a better deal as well. Keep in mind if you want to have the parking functionality you’ll want to get the install kit, I think its $50.

DR400G is what I have. I think there’s a new version of it out with some heat resistance improvements (although I’ve never personally had any issues after parking in 30+ degree weather for hours).
It came with a 16GB microsd card but I popped in a 32GB card.

There are a few more on my channel in different conditions. I keep it at 720p, but its a personal preference.
I find the compression is a bit to be desired though. Sometimes it looks over compressed.

Holy shit! In the first vid that looked like an incredibly stupid move on the LEO’s part. WTF? If he/she was intending on stopping you for a felony…great move. If it was just for a u-turn as I assume it was, that was some seriously poor judgment on their part imo. Put you in danger and themselves. Odd move for sure.

I’m watching 5th gear and they just demonstrated an iphone app that acts as a dash cam. Too funny.
He was doing a uturn to go after someone who was going 30 mph over the limit.
I would also be interested in purchasing one or two of these units. Thinking of a front and rear setup but I would have to check if it will interfere with the rear shade.
