DRC caps/plugs for the B7 RS4

I’ve seen this topic come up a handful of times recently on AZ…“Where can I source DRC line plugs for my RS4?”

Some kits come with a set, some don’t and with Stasis out of business you can no longer source from them. I just saw someone recommend contacting Europrice on AZ and they gave the customer a cost of $120 for a set of caps…that’s right people $120 fucking dollars.

Well, I have a solution for the members of AR with RS4s… if you ever need these in the future. Please keep this here because all the idiots on AZ don’t deserve this info. If they come here and see it, fine, but don’t make another post over there sharing.

These plugs will fit on the hard lines of the DRC system:

So you can remove the hose and just cap off the hard line. They are female plugs or caps and the line has M12x1.0 thread size (not very common)

…and get this, they will cost you $2.29 USD or $9.16 a fucking set. Save $110 of your hard earned money.

What a rip off. Nice find, I always figure these were off the shelf items but the mark up is insane.

It’s actually a very uncommon thread size…most everything is M12x1.5

I really only found this one source, but for $2.29 it’s a steal. Funny that people complain about the markup on an mechanical adjusters that needs to be engineered and machined precisely, but people dish out $100 for caps that a machine shop could easily make you for half that cost…or you could do what I did and just measure the damn fitting with a simple thread gauge and try to find an existing source.

A very helpful find for the rs4 guys. Nice find.

When a company has ‘price’ right in its name, that could be cause for concern…

Nice find!!!

I’m here to honestly help out the next guy, I hope this saves someone $100. Except a handful of idiots on AZ, those guys can seriously GFTS.

My first applaud on AR for Karma. Great find. I don’t have a RS4 but shit like his helps the community big time.

Wait you wanna save the next dude 100, but dog me cause I want to paint my trim!!! WTF! :stuck_out_tongue:

dude…you wanted to take a roller to your car lol

^lol

Nice find Euro, going to order some this afternoon so I have them ready for the coils!

Make sure you have a 13mm flare nut wrench for the lines, don’t try to use a regular 13mm.
The cap is 5/8" FYI.

Hahaha…No, I just asked…Seemed like it might work well…P’bly just gonna use paint shop stuff.

What suspension did you go with? KW?

I’m actually trying ST coilovers out (comparable to KW V1, height adj only). They aren’t specifically rated for the RS, but to be honest I’m pretty happy with them, I got them for around $740 shipped (NEW). My plan was KW V3s later down the road, but while doing H&R Springs I found a chaffed DRC line that was seeping fluid and a rear shock was leaking. I was basically going to spend $500 replacing those 2 items and $250 to have the system serviced at the dealer. I would Then have to pray everyday that the rest of the system was fine.

I really just need a comfortable ride for DD, but also a suspension that can handle a little spirited driving. I haven’t pushed the car hard, but I’ve had a little fun and these feel great so far. If I’m not completely happy I will go with V3s, but I didn’t want to use all of my fun money on suspension. I’d rather have it to put towards go fast parts.

In reality though, I need to just focus on buying a second home up in this area…not modifying my car, but that is easier said than done.

Here is a good shot from my drive home…

Ha, I know exactly where that is, almost went to that exact spot for some photos. I had ST’s on my old B5, they did the job for a cheap replacement suspension. Put about 15K on them in a year before I got rid of the car. They felt a little stiff but I like my suspension that way.

Beautiful car and drive!! Where is that?

What he said, lol

Nothing like your views though Marcus, thanks!

I feel that these coilovers are a little softer than the DRC suspension. The car feels more “planted” but it is lower and the track is a little wider (spacers). I also need to do the 034 front suspenion kit, I’ll probably order that this week. Nothing looked horrible, but some of the bushings looked tired (60k on the car now) and I’d rather do a full refresh and have piece of mind instead of tearing stuff apart to address each point of failure.
