81 ST 0 Jason Clymer Petaluma 12 Adui .237 13.65 13.491 100.16

13.65 was dial in. and I broke out big time. 13.491 @ 100 MPH clutch slipping in second gear
I’d go again, and take pictures of time slips, for empirical data, but I’m trying to figure out about the delay valve and if anyone has removed it and made some 1/4 mile runs to verify that a clutch upgrade is needed. The delay valve reduces the initial bite or clamp load that the pressure plate applies the the disc and flywheel. so if I shift fast, it slips and burns up a clutch and flywheel. Any clutch upgrade would need to overcome the delay valve to operate without slipping. Leaving the delay valve in the hydraulic clutch line may enhance the driveability of the car for a daily driver.

Pass was made with owner’s manual tire pressures
1/2 tank of 91 octane
nothing removed from vehicle.
barometric pressure 30.03
standard related air density 98.6%
effective altitude 498 feet
track temp 68 degrees
humidity 61%
track related air density 98.6%
wind from west 10 MPH
which was equal to an 8mph tail wind

Is this a stock s5?

I wouldn’t consider it stock:

bilstein shocks/struts- not coil overs. stock springs
alu kruez and eurocode swaybars

stock tires and rims- spare tire remained in vehicle

AWE touring exhaust

So. . . A catback only.

Why not at least pull the spare out? Trying to set a full weight stock record? If you’re going to the track, go in with 1/4 tank of gas and pull out all the regular junk.

Glad to at least see a S5 going to the track though. Their suck good looking cars they deserve some drivers taking them to the track and enjoying them properly. Thanks for sharing and keep the updates coming as you continue. I’d also look at prinetime’s suggestion about PSI on launches some and some advantages to be gained by dropping the psi some.

LOL…we would consider that…basically, stock

Good time though, got and slips or videos?

I dont have any issues with my clutch. Launching at 3400-3500 rpms holds well but around 4000 it will slip. Stock clutch with APR Stage III set up

Launching at the strip? Sometimes it’s different considering track prep. You make it out yet?

I find the strip slippy more than anything. The rough roads we practice on grab better than a prepped ‘sticky’ track in my experience. I can blow the tires loose at the strip unlike anywhere else. Maybe our prep is shit.

I was at Milan in Detroit last week and it was prepped like crazy the entire length of the track.

yeah, pretty much stock, but the catback might help, as might the suspension keeping everything tight.

I just found it interesting as a comparison to the JHM car that just went 12.83 @ 106 the other night on 91 octane at Sac. So their tune, test pipe, catback (although this car had catback) and clutch are making a delta somewhere around 6 MPH and 7 tenths over this car.

Who was it that said NA cars don’t respond to mods?

p.s. 32SPOKE…post your timeslips. Just take a photo of them with your phone then load them up.

I think one reason for clutch slipping ma have been from prior runs that evening and the clutch got pretty hot.

I could lower pressure, wouldn’t hurt anything to do so.

Stiffer shocks prevent the rear from sqautting under acceleration, I’d say stock shocks or even worn out shocks would assist a launch, especially on RWD vehicles. I’d still think it would be better for a softer shock for launching an AWD vehicle.

I will go again and will launch at 3200 to 3400rpm to see if it. maybe even resign myself to softer launches until elimination runs, knowing that I won’t know how well the car takes to the harder launch but with better D/A as the track temps cool down

I have screen shots of the runs from the 120go website, but the files are too large to upload onto this site. I can email them to anyone.
I emailed an apology to a member on this site and was about to email the screen shots of my times, but the email address the memebr had is no longer valid. If anyone wants the screen shots and knows how to post them, then just send a pm to me and I’ll forward the screenshots to them.

Went out friday night for the first time. PLanned on running and regret not. DA was good for SLC as well. Initially there were 220 cars in line with a 70min wait, and gf didn’t want to hang alone. G-rat was not able to run due to cracked windshield. But an hour before the track closed the line had got down to 30min. So i probably could have made three passes.

I had no idea how the tech worked either

However, everyone was complaining about traction and not hooking up due to low 40s/high 30s temps

Bigserve, Doh… Man that sucks! Why couldn’t she wait in the lanes with you? The wait goes quick… walk around and check out other cars and talk with folks… Intersting crowd no doubt but most are into cars so you can relate… You have a newer Audi, tech will be minimal at worst…

4000+ DA is good for SLC, huh…I’d have to say I’d own a turbo car if I lived in the stratosphere…

Usually if guys are complaining about traction, that’s great Quattro weather…

You’re right, she could have but we didnt know. We also found out later that night as we were leaving there were a group of friends there as well. Since I was a total ignorant noob I didnt know wtf was going on or what to do.

We went to purchase tickets and the girls told us to drive on in and line up where the cars are to race. As Im driving by everyone in line (everyone starring, was quite awkard, lol) I noticed every car had been tagged with a number on their window. I reached the back of the line and didnt see anyone checking off cars then a littel further back found the inspection guys but then they asked for tech after they checked my car. I said “tech? tech what?”, it was pretty embarrassing. So i drove all the way back and said fuck it! We watched for 75min until every car had passed to get an idea of how long of a wait it would have been. However some cars where getting special treatment skipping in line? Must have known someone.

I believe tech was a flat rate $20 per car

That night the DA dropped into the 38xx. Usually 4500-5000k DA is normal here :-[

You have to pay extra for tech? Here it’s usually included with the price of admission

I think they do admission at a flat rate, and then tech is more to get you the right to run.

We just pay the racing fee at the front gate, whereas he pays it in 2 stages.

Makes sense. $10 to watch, $30 to run.

tried to post, and I have a 92k filesize and that I can’t seem to upload. I get this response
