Heading over to raceway park tomorrow with a few buddies, possibly an Rb turbo 335. Low is 62* no rain forecasted and open from 5-10pm, whos in?
I can’t make it.
Make videos.
I should be able to but dont make any promises. I next day air’d a charging cable for my gopro so hopefully it arrives in time.
Go Pro sucks for the strip. Can’t see who is racing, who wins, what times were run.
Someone must have an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy…fully HD video cameras within phones are in everyone’s pockets these days.
Make videos like this.

What’s your modlist again apex?
Yea we all have smart phones, I’m just not sure if we’ll be able to with the runs. A buddy of mine is being a bitch and doesn’t wanna run his car so he may end up doing videos.
yeah I meant when your car is cooling down, film your buddies and vice versa. Or have a designated video guy.
Who is being the bitch? Marty again? He bitched out last time.
I’m not very experienced at the track, last few times I went we’d all line up when our group was up an go. When I went with ppl we were usually in the same group which is why I’m not too sure about it.
Not marty, haven’t reached out to anyone but the forums. A buddy of mine picked up a K04 for his gti. I’m telling him to do a baseline so he can see his personal gains not what he reads on forums. He’s bitching about destroying his stock clutch*. but ifhe bitches out we have a video man which also works. I’m going on 100, fully adapted this time around. May top off with some of the good shit down there.
*He has a replacement clutch ready to go
A quick note on the adaptation of the tune from my personal experience. I found driving to the track on 100/110 with the 100/104 tune and driving to the track with 94 on the 93 tune and switching to 100/104 once at the track made little to no difference in how fast the tune adapted i.e. how quickly my 1/4 mile times dropped.
I found that the real improvement was seen when the tune, or should I say ECU, adapted to the driving style i.e. running down the strip at WOT as apposed to driving 6/10’s down the freeway.
In any event good luck and make sure to adjust tire pressure as conditions require.
I’ve always tried to drive aggressively as I get closer but I’m also sure that those town try and crack down on speeding so it makes it a bit hard. i also don’t have the traction issues most others have probably becuase of my clutch. I tend to bog rather than spin.
I wasn’t suggesting you speed like crazy… I was suggesting you save the 100 until you get to the track and do 4-6 back to back hard runs to get the ECU adapted to the driving style… Let the car cool for 45 minutes and then see what type of result you get… Also, the B8S4 loves hot lapping but hates idling in the staging lanes so definitely get there early and don’t bother waiting for your friends to lineup in the beginning just run as many consecutive times as you can to help the adaptation process.
oh got it, well i’ve had the 100 in the tank for a while so thats already done. Depenong on how much gas I have when I get there I may top off with something better. I’m at 3/4 or so now and will use 1/4 to drive back and forth from work. I think I’ll be at about 1/4 down there if not lower. Thanks for the tips, any more?
Are you DSG or 6MT?
6mt. I know to shallow stage and more or less where I should be launching. Becuase of my launch issue i start with higher tire pressure rather than lowering like most.
What launch issues do you have?
Lol there’s only like 6 posts in the thread
He said he tends to bog.
Apex what rpm are you launching it? When I launched a b8 s4 a few times, 3400-3600 was good. Took off like a rocket with a bit of wheelspin. This was on the street where the surface is rough. Track is a bit more smoothe and slippy I think.

This?
You’re probably bogging because your RPM’s aren’t high enough. What RPM are you dropping the clutch?
Last night with cool tires and temps around 65* I got 2 great launches. first one of the night I spun all four and was out. after that I turned the P3 onto 0-60 timer to see where I was at, bogged a few times there and before giving in for the night I got a 3.91 (PR). I was dropping the clutch at around 2.5-3.5. I think I need to be at 3k on the street. I’ll bump up the pressure tonight to make up for the added traction and hope for the best.

Keeping in mind that I’ve never driven a B8 S4 MT my game plan, if I where you, would be to start with a decent tire pressure say 37psi-front 40psi-rear… do a mini burnout before you stage (do not go through the water box)… launch from say 3400-3600 (Saki suggestion) and gauge from there. If your launch bog’s raise launch RPM… If it spins badly either reduce RPM or reduce tire pressure a few PSI… there’s going to be a perfect combination it just takes a bit of time to find. Also, as the conditions change you will need to modify your approach.
Good Luck and have fun!
^^^81bear mini burnouts on a B8 with a stock clutch is a terrible idea. The clutch is already suspect as is. No need to heat it up right before a full bore launch. No offense.
The benefits are nominal if any, and the potential problems of launching the car TWICE within 30 seconds are not exactly awesome.

Agreed with Saki here…
Dump it at 3500 and leave your tires pressures at around 38psi all around…
Englishtown is very inconsistent with their track prep- If it happens to be extra sticky tonight you will have a hard time launching.
If you can nail your shifts and come out good I will say you should be able to pull a 12.2-12.3 at around 114-115. The DA tonight should be around +800-1000 and temps in the low 70’s.
