Once I bought the RS4 my views went way up. My S4 videos used to get views, but not like the RS4 videos.
To be honest, my views are peanuts . You have that couple ‘prank vs prank’ or something. The gino and his blonde girlfriend. They get about $10,000-20,000 a month from youtube if my calculations are correct. Yes. A month.
Or you could bend your new iPhone showing a design flaw (aluminum case on a skinny giant phone = trouble)… And whammo you have 13 million views in a day. Which is about 14 thousand dollars from YouTube .
Indeed very informative. It’s confusing that this would be acceptable by anyone’s standards. You’d think this would help open up the eyes of a lot of these guys just looking for a cheap turbo.
The only thing I’m going to point out…is that when you’re comparing the price, you’re overlooking the fact that the FT comes with a “high flow” exhaust manifold, bigger inlet pipe, bigger maf and all gaskets in addition to the turbo. No matter the quality, you’re comparing a “kit” with just a turbo. Other than that, great vid.
Oh I didn’t know the f23 kit didnt come with those.
I will admit, I had the F21 kit on my B5. The thing pulled like a motherfucker with the unitronic 440cc tune and green giants. Fitment needed a slight tweak, but other than that it ran fine all the way up until I sold it.
Would I do it again? Not a chance. But I was broke and my stock turbo wastegate broke off so I needed something and took a chance. Wish I would have known this stuff back then, oh well. Live and learn.
I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it. Here’s my stance on it. Its a chinese turbo. Through and through. you can ceramic coat it, paint it , swap out the wastegate, but at the end of the day its a chinese turbo. It has nothing on OEM manufacturer quality and reliability. But the thing is Chinese turbos are super cheap, people run them, they blow within 10k mi, but they can afford to keep replacing them.
Ebay fills the chinese turbo market quite well. But then comes Frankenturbo, they bundle a chinese turbo with a manifold and maybe some extras, charge you 2-4x what it costs them, and sell it as an OEM replacement. This seems very fradulent to me. They are asking well over OEM prices, and delivering bullshit, you get a turbo that won’t last you even a quarter the lifespan of an OEM unit. This was my first complain to Doug, back when he would still reply to me on Audizine.
I told him, it seems alright, it’s a chinese POS turbo, but people will buy it, but you are asking an insane price for what you are delivering. In a way its fraud, he is making this unit out to be something that it simply isn’t.
He also seems to have an obssession with talking about EGT’s which I think is hilarious because he does absolutely 0 manifold design, and I’m pretty sure the turbine wheels he uses are off the shelf as well. I mean the f21 is straight up a chinese k04. The F23 appears to be a k04 housing clone with an uprated wheel. Machining is subpar, 2 of them over on audizine have blown already out of 3 or 4, and you stop to wonder why could that be? because you are pushing a turbo that has poor manufacturing into it. Garrett, BW, etc, they run very precision tolerances, take a look at the spacing between the compressor wheel and cover, or the turbine wheel and turbine housing, its less than a millimeter, and you have to account for heat, bearing wear, and that is usually it, the bearings are shit, they wear out, the turbo starts having some play and bam, that compressor wheel is spinning 100,000k RPM a second, hits a wall and because its poor quality it isn’t designed for burst containment, shatters, and you have a turbo with no compressor wheel anymore.
I don’t blame you, Doug sells you gold plated shit, he makes you believe its a good product, thats his angle. Part of it too is that people think you get what you pay for, which is usually true in the automotive industry. Generally $ invested gets you better quality, but in the case of frankenturbo, the guy just charges outrageous sums for something that he is walking away with a 50-70% profit margin.
Oh I am not beating myself up over it, I was actually really happy with it while I had it, but I didn’t put a ton of miles on it before I decided I wanted the V8. I knew what I was getting into as far as it not being the same quality as BW/Garrett, but as I said, I took a chance. Also, the base price for the F21 is about $500 dollars cheaper than the F23, so I actually paid less for the whole kit than what a BW K04 would have cost me.
What I didn’t know was the photoshopped K04 compressor maps, avoiding/ignoring people and sidestepping legitimate questions, etc. That’s what I wish I would have known. And you’re right, I got sucked right into his sales tactics. The turbo didn’t blow, my motor didn’t blow, so I am not butthurt about it; but I wouldn’t do it again.
The second he posted that made up compressor map it became fraud. Theft too frankly because he just stole BW’s map, artificially grossed it up, and posted it as his own. It’s fucking shocking behaviour. Yet Anthony takes his money.
Oh man, I knew Doug did some shady things in 2.0t community, but I wasn’t aware how obvious it was for the 1.8t guys.
The manifold is a cheapo cast manifold, that he gets from whoever makes godspeeds mani, cuts some slits into it, ceramic coats it to look nice and out the door!
The turbo is basically a k04, the compressor wheel is even the same size. Inducer is about 1mm smaller, but the excuder is the same, probably because he puts in some crappy cast wheel that will blow as soon as you turn up the boost.
