For the last time, the Car did not blow up, it had blown headgaskets. Last time I checked that doesn’t mean it blew up. Jason shipped it to have it fixed.

Oh look another AMD / EPL cars can’t do 1/4 mile thread, never seen one of these before.

I really don’t think Tony cares about 1/4 mile, he cares about smooth street tunes, and probably road coarse tunes. No one is really contributing to the ancient 1/4 mile list anymore, no one is trying to hit 11’s on a B5, except maybe a few people. Most the people that did 11’s a long time ago have long since moved on.

  • No B5’s are being blown up by tuning at AMD.

  • None of the blown up B5’s are using AMD tunes, they are all EPL.

Killer, very few people seem to understand that Jason uses tonys tunes the same way I sell giac and Apr, they are not in bed and that Jason has his own tunes but doesn’t sell them as he has no way to lock them down. I try and point this out since threads like this seems to automatically associate amd to a car in CT, filmed in front of Epl, tuned by Epl.

Oh and this method of launch control has always been present in the ecus, just not used by the factory, no added code… Time to brush up on your info there chrisk ::slight_smile:

Yes, effectively every ecu for the last 15-20 years at least has had numerous different rev limits that can be set on conditions. The way we all do it is change the normal rev limit to the desired launch rpm, then we have a secondary rev limit that becomes the new normal rev limit. We set the higher limit to be blocked until the vehicle reaches a certain speed. Most tuners set this to 1km per hour so as soon as you release the clutch and the vehicle starts to move the higher limit is activated and everything feel normal.

I personally set it up to switch at 5-8 km per hour depending on vehicle power/power band.

Audi has used this function in other ways. I also setup some cars depending on the owner to have that launch RPM limit be active until the car is warmed up, as you can manipulate it in various ways, coolant temp is one.

Anyway… Back to regularly scheduled programming.

That is all launch control or launch assist is on a manual transmission car. It gives you a conditioned launch speed that you can learn to launch from everytime as opposed to trying to hit that sweet spot on your own. Clutch is still up to you.

I was thinking of launch control incorporating things like wheel speed monitors and adding an aspect of traction control to the mix.
