There’s a 1/4 mile event in Sealy, TX at Lonestar Motorsports Park on Jan 16th that I’m planning to get to if I can get a cooling system put in and we get the tune straight. It’s IHRA sanctioned, whatever that means.
so at the track, race gas all the way. daily driver, the alcohol seems to have the edge financially and performance wise. Of course managing fuel quality levels on a tuned car is tough with the ethanols.
p.s. is race gas really $10/gallon? I think we pay like $6 a litre here lol
We have limited access to both E85 and race gas here. There are maybe a dozen places that sell E85 in DFW- which is a pretty large area with 5-6 million people. They do seem pretty evenly spread out, but you probably need to plan ahead if you run full E85 only (especially since you’ll only get 150 or so miles on a tank).
I like what andthen does. He runs a Zeitronics Ethenol analyzer that displays the exact Ethenol content on his P3 gauge. Most places seem to be in the high E70 to high E80 range.
Race gas is near impossible to find except at the tracks. It’s been in the $10/gallon range just about everywhere I’ve been over the past few years. The only other option is buying 5 gallon drums for $50-55 each.
I agree though, for occasional track use, race gas probably makes sense. For daily use, E85 pays for itself pretty quick (unless you’re Ron).
Congrats man! Very very nice time! I told Jran and I think I even posted I thought you’d get the record after seeing your dyno and logs in addition to your 1/8th times. Glad to see you continuing to test the car and major props to EPL for working with you and improving their product! I think you have more in it as well and could probably cut another tenth… From your vid it seems you just roll into the lights… Next time roll into the first light and then stop. Barely let off the brake so the car literally inches forward until the moment you trigger the 2nd yellow and then stop again, you’d be surprised how the few inches helps…
At any rate congrats again on setting the record! Just happy to see many people out there drag racing and pushing the car to it’s limits… Oh and congrats to Tony and EPL! Very nice job and keep up the good work…
Thanks! We both worked pretty hard to get the car where it is. Seeing what you’ve done has really been very motivating. It really wasn’t about some record. I just want my 4 door to haul ass!

Thanks man! I appreciate that… No doubt your 4 door hauls ass! lol Loved the announcer on the FB page… lol
Wish I could get that DA and I’ll always be curious to see what I would’ve done on E85 since I never got to make a full pass… lol Spring can’t come soon enough ;D

LOL! Yeah, I knew that was just messing with you… I remember when Anthony PM’d me when I used to link my drag racing threads from Audiworld to Vendorzine… He asked that I make them directly on his site… lol
I used to try to explain this to Anthony that he should protect the content providers , not the advertisers.
Sure the advertisers pay the bills, but if you have great content and great content providers, you will have tens of thousands more members…and advertisers will line up. I don’t think he understood that. Fortunately for him, he owned an Audi site at a time when Audi became cool, and the other 2 Audi sites used that old fashioned piece of junk format (QW and Audiworld both used KAWF or whatever it was).
Hate to revise an old thread but saw a thread on Vendorzine I wanted to comment about.
I swear EPL is a bunch of liars…
So Tony posted this in response to someone saying other tunes may be faster…
Outliers aside for a second… take a close look around and see what has been posted recent from our customers and our competitors. If you take a good cross section… I wouldnt say anyones going ANY faster, if anything factoring conditions we may be showing better results.

What a crock of shit! The fastest EPL car is 11.40 in nearly negative 1000 DA. The outliers as he calls them are several GIAC and APR cars that have easily gone 11.3 - 11.2 Then there are a few that have gone 11.1, 11.0 and 10.9! Shit Mogs just went 11.30 on pump granted it was -1200 DA. Yet he talks about how he’ll custom tune which makes his tunes better so then why are they all slower? I’m not even sure I’ve seen a 120+ trap yet most APR DP cars are over 120 with Loe, Matt, Mogs and I trapping 124+…
Then his side kick posts this…
We probably have a better record of anyone as far as TD1, you flash the car yourself and we will not let you flash until we make sure we have your OEM file down to the part number and software version. And the files are from Audi, they are not just “stock” power level files.
Really? Do you have stats to back this up? Of course they don’t… Their whole argument is based on the fact that you can flash back to stock at home, which is nice but doesn’t make the tune less detectable… APR and GIAC and I’m sure the others make a copy of your stock file. I’ve had my car at the dealership numerous times and never got flagged even tuned. Oh and it’s nice their big selling point is hey if you have problems we can help you defraud Audi.
Then today Tony posted this…
Dial the launch in and you will have the 6speed record no problem! from what I can tell this already puts you are #2 on the list!
Thanks for getting out there!
Dude ran 11.94 with a 6-speed and their are at least 3 or 4 that I know are faster… Heck Pete ran faster with way less mods several years ago, single pulley… EPL = trash!
I shone a light on how terrible EPL tuning was 5 years ago here on Audirevolution when I asked EPL fanboys to produce some actual fast 1/4 mile times rather than hanging on some made up un regulated bullshit like FATS or dynos etc.
6 years ago I challenged the B5 forum on Audizoo to do the same for the EPL tuned Tial cars. It was interesting because once people got to talking about how there were no fast 1/4 mile time Tial cars it opened a lot of people’s eyes to how shitty EPL was at tuning.
