epl b8s4 tune
Dynos are a tool for measuring hp, they work great to see if parts made any gains, but besides that their only value is being able to tune a car in a safe environment and not on the street.

Correct he put down around 340whp with iats through the roof. He needs meth but doesn’t want to run it

We agree! His highest trap was 111 fyi, and put down 400 in 30° weather

Wasn’t this the point when we blasted you first Saxon.

You wanted a custom EPL tune over the other brands because those tunes are just one size fits all.

How after a couple revisions your car is still mediocre. What was it you so “cam timing and stuff”? Haha

That run against you was his best of the day. Unfortunately he missed fourth. He would have trapped 112 and run 12.6. Is that any good? No. This is 2014.

8 years ago B5 S4s with K04 sized turbos were faster than that. How has 8 years gone by and EPL is somehow making these guys slower? And nobody says a thing because they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. It’s simple. The dyno. They all live and die by the dyno sheet, and have NO IDEA how fast their cars ACTUALLY are. They’re just duped.

Saxon, you didn’t reply to this…
Speaking of…what were your 4 best times? You only posted the 12.35. Was that an anomaly? i.e. did you run 12.55 all day and have one 12.35?
A couple 12.4, most 12.5 with mediocre 60’

I’ve had one revision, where do people keep coming up with multiple. Last I knew giac took a couple years of their cars running low 12’s before a revision. Same thing with apr. This tune hasn’t been out a year and I’m willing to bet I’ll be running 12.0 on pump before the end of the year.

Nothing wrong with going for a different tune, i would have gone with giac had they worked with me on the cost a little bit, but they are proud of their product and didnt want to. (they have a great product obviously) so that being said i went off the beaten path as well and got a malone tuning tune, i hope i’ll be in the ball park time wise too, but never know. best part about my tune other than price i could afford is Mark is a great person to deal with, im sure saxon has good relationship with tony from epl as well which makes his experience better. I know the guys form the other companies are pretty on top of things also so im not saying that’s the only perk to doing something different.

saxon - why the switch from the srm to apr pulley?

Interesting. You have the most inconsistent DSG B8 S4 I have ever heard of. Wonder what was happening. Post a few of the slips and I’ll see if I can see what’s going on. Some of the split times and MPH will show it.

How is within 3/10ths inconsistent?

3/10ths doesn’t seem like a lot until you see the difference between two cars running side-by-side. Then it’s very noticeable. That would look like a car beating you by over 3 car-lengths.

Saki does seem to have a talent for translating quarter-mile results into data I can understand. I think it comes from reading thousands of slips and learning how different changes in various places of the power band translate to changes in different sections of the quarter mile and the final ET and speed.

-Skid

Also, all things being equal (day, environment, driver, etc.) most DSGs have run multiple runs with very little variation in each run. The B8 S4 (with DSG) is amazingly consistent at the strip.

-Skid

Must be giac isn’t consistent, Jones was running between 11.6 -11.9…

I think its interesting that you’re trying something new. My serious thoughts are no other tuner has to have you flash at home because they released something already tested and proven. You having a cable to flash at home says you’re not getting a tested product, you’re the one testing the product. Has this not been released?

Interesting to hear about the pulley change others mentioned as well. Was the SRM poor quality? I thought you could only buy an APR pulley with a tune. It’d be interesting to hear more.

Indeed.

I have seen b8 s4s with dsg run within a tenth of themselves for 6-7 passes. I can’t remember seeing one run all over the map like saxon mentioned. One 12.35, one 12.4x and a bunch of 12.5 runs. That’s weird.

For perspective I made 18 passes in my manual trans rs4 that ranged from 12.51 to 12.73 two weeks ago. The dsg guys are generally insanely consistent.

Salon mentioned Jones…He had like 8 passes in 11.6, and a pile at 11.7.

Saxon had 1 at 12.35, 1 at 12.4 and then a bunch at 12.5. And he made 10 passes. That’s very different.

Why try and twist the truth, quoted from Jones thread
7 Passes under 11.7
7 passes under 11.8
16-18 passes between 11.80-11.99

The cable allows me to flash back to stock as well, no other tuner can do this without driving to and paying a apr/giac dealer

I don’t know why I even try here, how do people expect a chassis to progress when anything new is shot down

Twist the truth? I was posting what I remembered . Said he made 8 passes @ 11. 6. He made 7. Oh noes

So he had half his passes within a tenth of his fastest pass. He had 7 passes within half a tenth.

Auditude4.2 made 3 passes last week. They were all within a tenth. The two fastest were within 0.06.

You have 1 at 12.35 and claim only two more at 12.4x (but won’t post the slips for some reason despite being asked 4 times nor will you explain the pulley change to clochner who keeps asking ) and the rest 12.5+.

It’s weird for a b8 s4 dsg to have a glory run on a night where they make 10 passes.

However you want post the slips for us to see just like you won’t post a dyno and we take post a log when asked, or answer a pulley questions . For some reason.

You understand that the point of tracking this stuff is b8 s4 vs b8 s4 benchmarking, right? To see what the cars are gaining from certain mods to help people guide decision making.

So when b8 s4s run xx.xx@xxx when stock, and we compare modified runs to that to see delta, we need to know what caused delta.

When you shave 35-40 lbs of rotating mass vs stock, that’s a huge benefit that needs to be notes. Sure your wheels aren’t extremely light but for 19x9 or whatever they are that is pretty light. Stock 19 set, that most b8 s4s have especially the stock ones in periodicals or our list, weigh around 59-60 with the factory Dunlop tires.

Hopefully now you see why we are saying you have lw wheel setup.

Someone was selling one for cheap, and there were also reports of the SRM pulley working its way off the S/C shaft. I think that was enough for him to make the change… I don’t know for sure, so just a guess.
