If it happens again… pull over right after and see if you have a clutch smell up front. It will be very apparent if it is a slipping episode with the clutch. I am leaning towards that more than a software glitch. This phenomenom happens with V1 also if you shift too fast and give throttle too early. Car does not like superfast shifting at all.
replacing slave cylinders on these cars? Weird. Haven’t heard that.
It’s a real tough call on the transmissions for these cars
DSG - awesome technology, seemless instant shifts, fun paddles, software problems appear common (short shifting etc)
MT6 - less drag, thus slightly quicker, lighter, cheaper, clutch problems appear common
I tell people to get the DSG mostly, unless they’re car nerds/performance minded…then I tell them to get MT6 (although I recommend DSG for guys who like track days)
Yea, for me it was a toss up. Went to the dealer and it just so happened that the car was a 6mt, I didn’t mind either or. I preferred stick as I had never had one and knew that once the power levels were surpassed it would be easier and usually cheaper than beefing up a DSG trans. I bought the car without driving it so I’ve never even experiences the DSG
good thought process. Will be interesting to see when DSG starts shitting itself. They didn’t put it on the B6/7 S4 because what they had at the time couldn’t handle torque very well (and the engine only made 302 ft lbs of torque). A few short years later and there it is on the B8 S4 with a tune that is making about 380-400 crank torque.
What’d the C6 RS6 get for a transmission? And is there a proper DSG yet for the R8 5.2 or is it still that older style system?
Not sure on either but the new AMG’s now have the newer style 7? speed auto and they make gobs of power
yeah, 7 speeds seems annoying but it just means they’re always in the powerband when you’re thrashing through the gears.
Finally got the pic. here’s a stock exhaust off a 2010 S4 6mt not that it should matter.

I also qouted tsivas on the AWE exhaust
Here’s the miltek stock photo. This is the same res. system I have. If I’m not mistaken the rear resonators are removed on the non res system.

Fast Intentions with what looks like their res. version next to it.

I couldn’t find a pic of the APR system put together.
edit: Got lazy and didn’t get the rest of the systems. If anyone wants them let me know and I’ll try to host them.
great stuff dude!
that stock system looks really bitch like. It looks like it’s about 1.5" lol. It’s Probably 2.125".
nice Luis. good stuff.
so what are thoughts on x-pipe that some systems have?
I have seen apr and awe with them.
FI looks like it has one? not sure.
Don’t know about Milltek.
The FI has a nice shallow x-pipe
With the APR sale currently going on, I was considering ordering the APR exhaust. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t go APR and should get AWE or Miltek? I’ve listened to tons of youtube clips and they all seem to get loud when you step on it. With a 6MT, would it be more enjoyable with non-resonated DPs versus resonated DPs?

Go Milltek. Prolly no hp gains, but best in show for exhaust note.
Dunno Luis came out and heard a FI and my AWE tuning exhaust tonight. I think he was digging ours more than his Milltek
AWE’s exhaust is fantastic - problem is the wait for delivery. Some people are waiting 2 months! I haven’t heard the FI yet. Link to video?
richib86 had a fwe FI videos, but complained that the drone was attrocious.
it was poop your pants bad
LOL! I have a little drone when driving on the highway, but it’s certainly tolerable.
it was just on the brink of tolerable without the headers but with headers was poop your pants bad lol
Yep. Miltek res is pretty tame. The awe has a lower overall tone. Fast intentions sounded great but is supposed to be nearly unbearable with headers. Once I get my test pipes I’ll go from there but I want to hear it with the non res miltek and the awe.
Its much tamer now. Its still a bit loud, but in a good way. I’m adding a center muffler, which should put it right where I would like it.
