Exhaust

I’m not sure if I find that a acceptable excuse lol…fine I can wait till tomorrow…

who here has a 2.5" catback on a 3.0?

I wonder if the drone will be up in the 3000 rpm range. That could get annoying.

I know one guy who did that. He said it was a little bit louder, but not really. He got it for free, so he was happy, but he said he probably wouldn’t have paid the $$$ for it.

I’ll tell ya here soon

Theres a OEM B6 S4 exhaust on AZ for 200$, I would pick it up right now but the guys in NY and
said he wont ship, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be convinced to, and I need the money for more important repairs first anyways. I was thinking 700$ for JHM DP’s and B6 S4 exhaust is not shabby at all for a proper spec setup.

Theres also a magnaflow X pipe I saw for like 50$ which i thought i remember reading that it is better to use the X pipe, can anyone confirm the use of the x pipe?

stock s4 exhaust is horrible…basically designed to keep the car quiet and to make it slower than the rs4

Hushpower muflers and custom exhaust.

horrible for what, the S4? or the 3.0?? why would it be bad for the 3.0 if its 2.5"? I assume it will be quieter because its stock and thats why i want it. I don’t want a loud car so cops can mess with me and hear me coming before I can even see them. Plus I want people to think i’m stock. Can someone set things straight here and tell me why S4 exhaust would or wouldn’t be good on 3.0 vs other options?

No offense to whoevers car that is but that is the worst sounding setup of any video i’ve seen on youtube.

it’s the microphone on the camera…it sucks and they are revving it in a garage, so it’s too loud to register properly.

Yes, that is a 3.0L A4. And I found it and thought it was good for a laugh.

Have you ever seen a stock S4 exhaust? Not only are there sharp bends/pancake sections, its not even 2.25". IIRC oem diameter is 2.1xx

Why would a stock exhaust be better than aftermarket applications?

I thought I remember someone on here awhile back said that the B6 S4 exhaust is 2.5" stock, so now your saying thats not the case? If that is true I’m sure glad I didn’t buy one yet.

If you want PICS and actual information about S4’s stock diameter exhaust ask Induktion
they work on them all the time.

Nooo it’s not 2.5. Everyone upgrades their S4 exhaust to 2.5, maybe that’s where you were getting confused.

Just found a guy in my local audi club who is going to build my exhaust for me ;D Hopefully JHM releases their downpipes in the next few years.

well considering he has an S4 and has done pretty serious exhaust mods and knows the car inside out, yes I’d believe him and not 'someone on here. I was also trying to let you know with my post that it’s a crappy part…and not worthy of putting on any car unless your goal is to be the cool A4 kid with the S4 exhaust. Of course I know you’re smarter than that, so just skip it.

the stock exhaust is around 2.125" but in reality it crimps down to about 0.5" in one section, has a couple of needlessly sharp useless bends like fucking crazy, has very baffled mufflers and resonators and is a terrible design if your goal is to make some power.

If your goal is to waste your time and money, and buy an exhaust that is likely no better for your car than the stock 3.0 exhaust, it’s a fantastic choice.

Pay close attention to the crimp down (it’s flat as a pancake) section between the back brace and the resonator…it’s brutal.

B6 first, then B7

Thank you, I’m glad thats cleared up! Now if I can only find a 2.5 cat back system that sounds good… what are the chances we could get a sound bite of Keatons car??

Is b6 s4 4.2/a4 3.0 the same fitment?

If so there are a bunch of options.

Labree high flow CATS and Milltek full exhaust.

Audio for Milltek 55/57mm full exhaust.

I believe so.

And like others have said skip the stock S4 exhaust, as you can see in those pictures its not a performance option

2.1"

wow milltek has a great formula for making exhausts for these cars

  1. replicate stock diameter
  2. put a bunch of lame bends in
  3. make it sound good
  4. charge a fucking MINT

And people line up.
