From stock b6 to supercharged b7

Hey guys, so I sold my Imola B6 a little over a week ago and got this two days ago off a friend. It’s a B7 with OEM RS4 body conversion and a JHM Stage 2 supercharger, headers, etc. Currently breaking in the clutch but it already feels massively faster lol. Will probably change the whees at some point as they are too big for our crappy roads (20x10f & 20x10.5r) and some other visual mods.

Here’s some pics of the B6 and the new B7…

Looks beautiful! Nice way to make it into the supercharged world! Maybe you can share all the car details and mod list when you get a moment?

Congrats - gorgeous car!

What are you thinking of for wheels?

Congrats, great looking car. How many miles have been put on the motor since it was built?

I was beginning to wonder what happened to David’s car in PR because he was going to part it out.

Definitely looks beautiful!

Yeah I was going to buy the supercharger till he offered me the car instead. It really was a no brainer, the car is immaculate and has only 43k miles.

Thanks. Should be around 2k miles more or less.

Thanks! Thinking OEM RS4’s or some 18" ADV1 a friend has on his widebody GTI.

Its got Pauter Rods, JE Pistons, JHM stage 2 supercharger, JHM headers, Spec clutch, Bilstein coilovers, the porsche bbk from ecs, pretty much everything but the JHM intake manifold.

Oh ok, this is the stage 1+ from Puerto Rico. Nice!

Oh ok, this is the stage 1+ from Puerto Rico. Nice!

Wow just wow. What a fantastic car looks incredible. And the performance parts to boot. Its great he sold you the car. I think he posted about how he was thinking about going turbo and its such a good move he didnt the turbo 4.2 Audi combination is just not worth it and the supercharged option remains a much much much better option. It would have sucked to see him ruin a great well put together car.

If you can it would be great to hear more about the difference in stepping up into a NA to stage 1+

As great of a story as his car is it is also sad. I remember reading that he wanted 500whp and came very very close to that with the stage 1+ I think the intake alone would have gotten him over the 500whp mark as the intake manifold was designed to help releave the restriction on the intake side for the upper rpm power. Its great to hear it has landed in good hands. I think we all are excited to hear more about the car and your thoughts

Yeah he had already bought the turbos and everything before he decided to sell the car.

Haven’t really gotten on it yet, still breaking in the clutch only got 300 miles on it. But i can say that between the headers and the s/c the low end is a lot more torquey, plus it gets a lot better mpg lol. Having said that the few times i’ve given it a bit of throttle you can tell its a LOT quicker.

Yeah will look into getting the JHM IM at some point. I think he got up to 480whp. Its good he gave me something to do to the car lol. Plus i think it doesn’t have the intake spacers so at the very least i have to get those.

I’m confused. Is it a stage 1+ or a stage 2?

It’s stage 1+ Axel. He doesn’t have all of the components to be a JHM stage 2 car. Technically you have a stage 2 supercharger too since it’s the same blower.

What are the differences between stage 1, 1+ & 2? Is 1+ just a stage 1 with the intercooler or is there more to it?

Stage 1+ adds about 40 to 50hp over the stage 1 and the stage 2 is about another 60 hp over that. So the car made about where it was suposed to be.

Stage 1 440whp
stage 1+ in cool weather 480/490whp
Stage 2 530 to 560whp depending on supporting mods.

And usually the 4.2 S4s start crushing the rods around 460whp so stage 2 would crush the rods quickly if you didnt have a built motor

Stage 1 - S/C + Stage 1 Tune
Stage 1+ - S/C + Intercooler + Stage 1+ Tune
Stage 2 - S/C + Intercooler + Smaller Pulley + 2nd Diverter Valve and the necessary hoses + Bigger Inlet/Intake Filter + Stage 2 Tune

Jimmy, could you chime in and confirm this? I can’t remember what exactly came with your stage 1+ kit.

The thing with stage 2 is, JHM won’t sell this to you unless you have their sleeved block. If my info is correct, there are only 3 stage 2 S4s. 1 in Canada, 1 in San Francisco, and mine in Chicago.

Ok so either way I should be pretty safe with the forged rods & pistons with the 1+ then. I’ll see what numbers i can get out of it when the weather cools down a bit… won’t be as cool as you guys get but at least it wont 90 degrees lol. What do you guys think would be a reasonable 1/4 mile result?

Also i’d like to see what results Jimmy gets with the killer chiller, definitely interested in that with our constantly hot weather, will probably do wonders if I go to a 1/2 mile event.

The car also has a water meth system installed though not fully connected, you guys think its worth it for cooling/power gains?

MDUBZ, it goes more like this:

Stage 1: SC + stage 1 tune

B6/7 S4 Stage 1+: SC + Intercooler kit (the second diverter valves and hoses along with the metal bigger SC inlet are apart of the intercooler kit) + stage 1 tune

RS4 stage 1+: SC + Intercooler kit + slightly smaller SC pulley + stage 1+ tune

Not sure where the fueling upgrade fits in here so I am going to put it between the RS4 stage 1+ and stage 2 description. There is a in tank high flow pump and fuel filter kit for both the S4s/RS4s along with a high pressure fuel pump upgrade for the RS4s.

Stage 2 for all: SC + Intercooler kit + smaller SC pulley than stage 1+ + stage 2 tune

Your car should be set like the RS4 stage 1+ level.

Currently getting 16 degrees below ambient IATs post intercooler with the KC unit in dual zone AC. Trying to get the single zone system to work but I need time to actually be able to work on my car.
