I am there. Took videos. Came along for ride with them. No runs for me today. Brought the lil guy to track/babysitting. Paul’s clutch not broken in yet and he having some other issues, CEL/misfires… injectors?
Both cars today ran well. Had to jet though. Too much waiting between runs and they didnt allow hot lapping. Pete has to work at 4.
Car def has more in it. Didn’t take anything out of trunk… Had my son’s babyseat in it. Heavy ass 19s.
Saki - he said he launched at 4100 rpms with a little slip ~10 mph.
Just took a closer look at the trap between the two cars and the GIAC tune is seriously pulling on the stage 1 Revo on the big end! The 1/8 mile they are dead even then the GIAC car opens up 3.5 mph at the end of the 1/4 mile!
That was my next question is this the extra 200rpm advantage or is it just the gear ratio? Also, the comparison is a testimant to the DSG’s shifting capabilities…
That last 200 rpm is pretty handy for the trap for sure. Also 6MT cars shift at something like 40, 70, 100, 130 mph, yeah they have taller gears than us DSG-ers.
I’ve been saying all along we just needed a brave shifter to get nice times…I’m thinking this spring the 6MTs will be awe-some (lol).
i wouldn’t call the other 6MT guys who went cowards if Pete is the only Brave one. Has any other manual transmission stage 2 car run with -1400 feet of density? Just richi whose clutch was shitting the bed on him in 1-2, and he trapped pretty similar. Same track even.
p.s. there goes the final nail in the coffin for the eurocode headers with a GIAC stage 2 car trapping better than Richi.
There’s lots of people that are open about not wanting to be brave with their clutch on the B8, if you haven’t noticed. I’m not worried about your campaign on me, Sak, but respectfully for everyone here, please get off it.
no idea what campaign you’re referring to. The fastest stock time was a manual car at PBIR. You said apexit it can bang gears like crazy. Richi clearly wasn’t scared. sobz has tons of seat time and can drive no problem. All of these guys have posted times. Where are the cowards whose 6mt times we have???
Anyhow hope this is inspiration for the 6MTs, and of more to come, from both APR and GIAC…and more GIAC details that may reveal some differences between the stage IIs
