30th or something. I was T-18th after day 2 (and only 2 shots from T-9th). Best part was, day one I was -3 with 3 to play. . . no penalty shots, just good ole fashion fuck-up. That’s golf though.

I’m exempt for next year which is at the Honors course though. Golf digest T29th best courses in America.

Like we talked about earlier. I don’t really “go low”. I play a very difficult course, and I do better playing difficult courses and shooting even or close, than I do throwing it a couple under par every round.

edit:

Yea short-sided myself on the par 3. Got in back rough with a green sloping away and pin on same side. Tried to hit a delicate shot into the first cut and die onto the green, didn’t make it to the green, chipped next one to 5 feet, and then 3 putted for no reason.

But yea, it was a fun day up to then. I wasn’t even worried or anything, just tried to get too cute. Then tried to play conservative on the last two holes to avoid complete collapse and small errors cost me a shot.

It was a fun event though. I like the Mid-Am. Everyone there actually has to work and has given up Pro aspirations. The Open feels like you’re just playing against college kids and guys trying to make the tour.

^^ That’s still pretty impressive, Maddog. Congrats!

Cool. Congrats. Great to get an exemption. We never get mid-am exemptions.

p.s.here are the guys winning scores from the Canadian MidAm

1 Kevin CarriganK. Carrigan Victoria, BC -5 F -20 63 68 67 66 264

CRAZY!

Garret Rank finished 3rd. He was a semi finalist at the US AM and a finalist at the US mid-am last year I believe.

Wasn’t able to catch any of the coverage yesterday, but I hear Tiger blew a four-shot lead on the second nine, and then choked in the playoff to Zach Johnson. All at his own tournament. Ouch!

I saw his congrats Tweet to Zach. Pretty sure he had someone else do that for him lol

Everyone said it was pretty compelling drama.

Tiger continues to show the world what happens to a golfer with immense talent and physical skill, but shot nerves. It’s tough. He’s literally miles better than everyone, but when the heat is on, he chokes as hard as anyone now. If he wins, he gets a 6 shot lead and holds on. Anything else is up for grabs. He doesn’t go 31 on the second nine to win anything. He goes 37 to either lose, or barely not lose.

p.s. Zach Johnson is annoying. Nobody’s favourite player.

Ya it’s sad to see him continue to choke on final rounds. Remember Torrey Pines last year? He had like an eight shot lead on Sunday and wound up shooting 39 (consecutive bogeys and a double) going into the clubhouse. Firestone may have been the only tournament last year where he played solid all four rounds.

Agreed on Zach.

At last - 2014 golf season is upon us. I predict Tiger wins one major and finally claims the record for most PGA wins (currently held by Snead at 82). Other than that, I’d like to see Mickelson win a US Open. One can always hope, right?

Oh yeah, what are you guys buying this year, equipment-wise? I definitely need a new driver

Haha 2014 season is already like 5 tournaments deep. Tiger and Phil have each played once or twice already.

Here’s what I will say about tige
the natural psychological progression of a golfer in winning is

First they get into contention at a tournament but don’t win

Then they get the lead in another tournament but blow it

Then they finally win a tournament

Then they do the same process at big tournaments like we events or invitational.

Then they go through the process at majors, and if they’re lucky finally win one. The majors thing can take a while. Phil is a good example. Now he is over the hurdle and has won a bunch.

Virtually all of these guys go through this, and when they return from slumps, injuries or swing rebuilds, it starts again.

Tiger did this after 2009. It was textbook. Now he can win loads of tournaments again although he is still blowing his share. In the big tournaments he is wining them in bunches. 2 WGC events last year alone. In majors he has contended in a few…then he led in a few and blew it. Next step is to win one, and then he will win another 2 or 3. He is too good not to.

People keep saying that he’s washed up etc but those people are missing some important information. Tiger won 5 times on tour in 2013.

Sandiego, the players, Bay Hill, doral (wgc), and firestone (wgc).

That right there is an incredible career… Never mind year. If you knew someone who was a retired tour player and he won those five events he would be funking famous as he’ll and your buddies would be jealous that you had access to his greatness.

Did everyone forget that already?

Anyone who wins 5 big time events on that tour in one year is a killer. There’s a very short list, and those who have were superstar dominant and in the prime of their careers. Even if tiger is not Tiger2000, he is still at a level that only 10 guys have ever been at in the history of the TOUR.

I didn’t realize that the fall tournaments counted toward the 2014 season. Is that new this year? In any event, I never watch them.

Totally agree on Tiger’s progression. I have to believe this is the year he’ll finally get back to winning majors. Once he crosses that hurdle, then we can really start talking about Jack’s record being in jeopardy. Of course, all this assumes that Tiger doesn’t succumb to further injury. That’s a major variable.

Will also be interesting to see how Rory fares this season. He’s way too talented to have consecutive winless seasons.

BTW, has Chamblee been fired yet? lol

Funny.

When was that? Can’t tell who is on the bag. Too dark to be Joe. Too young to be Williams. Is it Bryon Bell?

nevermind just saw it’s not Tiger lol. Grainysauce.

It was Charl Schwartzel. The worst part is that he missed the damn putt!

^haha never seen that before, but that’s a damn good shot.

I think it was from over the weekend. European Tour.
