We did the same thing a few years ago about getting a round in on the trip - went straight to a course from the Atlanta airport. We had Tuesday tickets.
Cameras and stuff are allowed on the grounds during practice rounds. I brought my Canon 1 series, a monopod and a massive lens when I was there in 2008.
We were in Longboat Key. Course we played was IMG Academy in Bradenton. Everything was in good shape but a majority of the staff were pricks so I don’t plan on going back.
I think a lot of it is that they see younger guys in an area that is primarily retirees and assume we are oblivious to the rules of golf and just looking to get drunk while cruising around in golf carts.
Yea, I won two practice round tickets, so I’m going to be going down there and hopefully getting around in somewhere. Might also get a tour of the Clubhouse, so fingers crossed as that’d be great.
