bummer for spieth. When he made that bomb on 16 I thought he was surely going to birdie 18 and win outright.

His drive on 18 was terrible, pulled it badly. I HD a feeling he was gonna leave it short, gotta do some spin control there or throw it way past the pin…

The drive wasn’t a big deal I don’t think. The more left you go, the more your angle improves so it doesn’t matter how far left you go until you’re otis. The wedge was terrible. Poor distance control which is not very pga tour like. You have to know a full 60 is going to spin like fuck there (this week anyway… Usually it wouldn’t) . He had 92. Surprised he didn’t just hit an 85% 56 or something.
Hahahaha that’s hilarious. Just as with the complete separation of church from State, so too should god not be invoked in sports. I seriously think lesser of athletes who attribute their victories (and as sak points out, never their defeats) to some mystical celestial dictator.
Back to The Open Championship, I was really upset Spieth lost. And I was pulling for Louis during the extra holes.
Yeah Spieth seemed almost mythical when he made that putt on 16. He quickly came to earth on that second shot to 17
Still I find him really easy to root for.
I can’t believe he stuck around at the end…that was REALLY different. I saw an instagram pic of him and Zach Johnson like 2 years ago, so I’m not sure if they are good buddies or what and that’s why he stayed.

2d prediction: I will have finally played Whistling Straits by next spring. Can’t believe I haven’t been up there yet. Beautiful property - and I think there are 4 or 5 additional top-notch courses. Denitely need to spend a few days there. Anyone else been?

He has led the US open, the British open and the pga after the first round. Didn’t win either of those. Will be interesting to see.
