Great Lakes Dragaway October 5

Updates? ;D

Went 12.7, couldn’t get any good logs going for some reason it’s kept giving me N/a values every time I got to the lane. Next time, ken and I were the only ones that showed up

My best was 13.115… yikes. Wasn’t performing well today. DA was +1170 and we were sitting around in the staging lanes for 20+ minutes for our runs. My 60’ was garbage compared to my last outing with Brandon. I tried lowering the rear pressures but that actually hurt my 60’… may have taken a bit too much out and bogged the car down on launch.

I have some video that I will upload soon. Also, I have a vcds log of the second run if anyone is interested.

I was on 100 octane today, 3/8 tank, spare removed. I have to agree with saki about the 100 on the 93 tune. From what I can tell, it doesn’t help at all. Not worth it without a dedicated 100 tune IMO. Logs may show otherwise so I’ll let the vag-com gurus look before I jump to any conclusions.

Not too bad, considering the D/A. Its amazing how much it affects our sc engine/software combo.

I went Friday night and the best I could do was 12.31@114mph. I wasn’t expecting to beat my best, so I was on 93 and only removed the spare. I did manage a couple 1.7xx 60 ft Because I played with tire pressure, which I concluded 32psi all around is best for me. D/A was +1460 and got higher due to the barometric pressure drop.

Hopefully will see 11s next week, with proper prepping.

Ken, times seem slow, not to state the obvious… car running ok? DA really wasn’t too bad the sitting in the lanes hurts though… shoot me the logs… I think the tune has a decent range of adjustment but haven’t tried running race gas on the pump tune… I did on my TTRS and it netted me a tenth and well over a mph in a worse DA…

dblearon, so what happened with the logging? 12.7? how was the 60? MPH?

guys, (all of you)…post your timeslips and modlists in the dragstrip database notifications thread or here. 2 from each would be good.

Not sure what I was doing wrong maybe trying to run to many variables for the log, I was able to log driving home…but when I selected 11 items off the list you sent me all my values would change to N/A after 15-20 seconds. On my way home I only selected 8 and it worked so I think that may have been my hiccup.

As Ken said the staging lanes were horrible and all the American cars apparently were running 1/8 miles and then spitting out parts, must of been some sort of club

My slips are in my car so I’ll go grab them on lunch and post up here, my fastest run was with my spare in. Once I removed it I slowed down, but at that point I think we were heat soaked from waiting so long between runs and all the breakdowns.

Ron, sending you the logs now. IATs were pretty high from what I can tell.

If you have a problem identifying any of the fields, here’s a list them:

^^^^mod list?

Saki, I believe this is what Aaron was running yesterday. I forget what his tire pressures were at.

Could someone pls explain…does GIAC have a separate 91 and 93 program…? Or just “pump” and “race”?

You can only have pump and race on a car but they have available a 91 or 93 tune…

So car can have stock/91/race or stock/93/race

I have the 91 file because WA only serves up 92.

According to Austin my car makes more HP with the 91 file than the 93 tune and 92 octane fuel. Better to compensate up vs. down.

35.5 psi, yep that’s about it from a “go fast” standpoint.

Curious. I switched to a different tire size, 265/30 19 and my acceleration improved like wtf rocket mode.

How much do you guys think this affects 1/4 and different acceleration pulls, I.e. 30 to 100, etc…
Wish I had vbox, but I guess logs will do similar, if its all done at the same level, with the least incline/decline possible. Or should I film it? Always enjoy my crazy comments in there ;D

In case nobody has mentioned it, if you are sitting in the staging lanes for quite some time, you might as well ice down the supercharger and heat exchanger. The coolant pump can be cycled with the VCDS.

If you remove the cowl cover while the car is sitting, you will have primo access to the heat exchanger. Water needs to be flowing through it to pull any heat out though.

It’s a tiny diameter so two things happen

  1. Your speedo is calibrated for 26" diameter and these are ¾" smaller so if you’re judging by the speedo, it’s flawed.

  2. You’re getting through gears faster because of the 3% smaller diameter so gears will fly by a little quicker

  3. The smaller size has a torque multiplying effect that will help acceleration elapsed time but will hurt trap speeds slightly.

Makes sense. Thx saki не мога да повярвам, че ти благодарих lol

I am not familiar with the vag circulating the cooling pump trick, could someone please elaborate?
I would greatly appreciate it, thx guys!
