GT 28R Vs. Tail 770 Vs. JHM S5

Ill get more information as it comes out on the other cars. The one fella has video so Im working on getting that.

The Race idea came from me and a few guys at the local meet getting some cars together. It was a canyon carving race/drive

My S5 has the JHM (beta) S5 tune and the JHM LW clutch and flywheel (love it love it love it)

My part of the race with both cars wasn’t impressive as they both have well over 600whp.

story short.

With the help of my JHM tune and LW flywheel and clutch I was able to put 2.2 cars on both of the cars when starting in 1st gear Mid way through 3rd I got cought and passed HARD and FAST… So Ill just let that be what it is. I was however impressed I was able to sprint away in the lower gears. I was smart enough to never race them in any gear but 1st as I knew what was going to happen.

Now on to the more interesting part.

The Tial 770 car was a OTS EPL tune The GT car was a 034 standalone. We all had the same gas in the cars at this point as we all stoped at a fill station before our fun drive. We were canyon carving for a few hours before we decided to race.

After the road race the sprint racaes went down like this

It was a streatch of road where it was wide but you could only run two cars safely side by side. SO I raced the Tial car and then the GT car. Each time the GT car cought me faster or sooner and passead me in what I would describe as a violent passing. It took the Tial car longer to catch and pass me. When he did it was smooth and fast but not like the GT car.

The GT Vs Tial race showed the same thing. The GT car raced him 3 times. The 3rd time the GT car gave the Tial car a big head start.

The first two races. The GT car seemed to get to power much faster. No matter what the Tial car never gained ground on the GT car once the GT car started to pull. Even when they raced from a dead stop they both came out and it was dead even in 1st but in second gear the GT car started making larger strides and by 3rd gear the GT car was off and was never to get cought. I must say its real imressive to see a GT car go like that.

The last race I was in the GT car for added weight to try and make things a little more fair. The Tial car was given the jump. They both stateted in 3rd gear and it looked to be at about 50mph. With the jump given It seemed to me a big enough jump that the turbos on the tial car were clearly screeming… or so it sounded to me. By the time we got out of 3rd gear It was dead even. The Tail driver shifted faster into 4th gear so it looked like he got a little edge there. Not that one car was pulling but from how the GT car cought up you would have thought he was going to catipult by The Tial car. After making the 4th gear shift the GT car was back up and pulling HARD on the Tial car. It was a slow but still constant pulling away.

Im trying to get the go pro video to load here. Ill keep you guys posted. The last race was the one that showed up best on tape so that should be the one to watch.

With all the deabates I thought this was timly and relevent. Either way It was fun and I could care less cause I want a blower for my S5

I want to see the vids ;D

x2, excited to see the action

its funny how the V8 cars hang in there through 1st, 2nd and part of 3rd…and its incredible how violently the big turbo B5 cars sprint past towards the top of 3rd. It’s nuts!

Hairy nutz

can’t wait till vid…

Ive found more then not that the B5 guys don’t know or haven’t seen this. I however have seen this in almost every case. Every case with in reason.

It’s true. My pulls in my old B7 S4 vs a sorted stage III B5 were a bit of a shocker to both of us.

The other car was a frankenturbo car with ER SMIC, full exhaust, clutch and LWFW, 50/50 meth tune by VAST and was overall well sorted. When we went from first gear, I put 2+ quick car lengths on him in 1st and 2nd which he made back up in 3rd, then he passed just as I went into 4th and put 2-3 cars on me in 4th.

We did this a few times…same results every time. His car wasn’t an axe murderer by any means…but it was certainly well sorted. He kind of thought something was wrong with his car when he was falling so far behind early on, but as I discussed this with other people with ACTUAL (not internet fable) experience racing nicely sorted B5 stage III cars vs. JHM tuned S4/RS4/S5 4.2 cars, the results were echoed. We see that again today with S5afehayden’s runs.

Here’s an example…the fastest Tial 605 car ever running 11s at Cayuga. This is Notor.VR’s car from 2011. This was his meth/pump tune. I’m reasonably sure his car is well sorted (he’s quite sharp and knows what these cars need).

He had an amazing 60 foot time at 1.6, and moved out pretty well. By 330 feet, where he’s probably going 70-75 mph and is in 3rd gear, he was 5.0 seconds. My RS4’s stock run last week had me at 5.3 seconds at the 330 foot mark. 3 tenths back, when 2 tenths of that was in his launch vs. mine. So he made 1 tenth on me from 60 to 330 feet…basically all of 2nd gear. That’s about 0.5 car lengths.

Of course from there on, he’s flying away. He’d have me by 8 car lengths by the end of the 1/4 mile (11.9 vs. 12.7 = 8 tenths…and these cars are going 150 feet per second at these trap speeds…a.k.a. 15 feet or 1 car length per tenth.)

Look at his run from last weekend though…same day I ran 12.75. As you can see the cars were pretty even for the first 2 gears (330 foot 5.30 for the RS4 vs. 5.44/5.24 for the B5). By the 1/8th mile (top of 3rd) the RS4 8.1 and on one run the B5 was 8.1 also. On the other he was 7.9 so he’s already making space there. That’s about 1.5 car lenghts. He was struggling with his launch control parameters which hurt his short times, but this is still an interesting exercise. This isn’t a plain jane k04 car on 91 that traps 112 and runs high12s. This is a sorted 605 car…and the gap when both cars are on pump isn’t really all that much in the first 2 or 3 gears. The second half of the track…well that’s another story

Bottom line is WE NEED MORE TOP END lol.

Yeah running 12.1 while playing Angry Birds or something lol. Same applies to his run against jspazz’s b8. The B8 was brutal off the line but the Tial B5 pulled it back and trapped 5mph higher. Fun to watch! I’d love to see that match up again once notorious sorts out his MAF, clutch and launch control. Great stuff.

ME and justin raced A local vast guy with The vast GT kit. Justin murdered him till about 110+mph and then the bottle ran out

I was able to take him the GT car down till 4th As I have the JHM headers and JHM tune as anyone with JHM headers knows its fucking lights out when you hit the gass. So this isn’t anything new to the game. I think we are lucky to have AR cause its filled with actual factul smart guys that wont argue the TRUTH.

+1. Lots of people here that don’t care what platform you’re on, just in search of fast Audis.

Hyden - hope you get the blower soon, I presume you’re holding out for the JHM one?

Details on the B5’s (other than turbos and tuning)?

and videos too.

cool info in this thread… i’m in for more about these B5’s (770 and GT) and the video

It’s been 4 days and no vid!

WTF!!

Yeah WTF

Don’t make me post up another vid of me racing a B7 A4!!

I have never met a 4.2 owner on the street that will launch. They always want to roll race. Local b6/7 owners to me need to step it up.

Surprises me - I thought the 4.2 was better from a dig than the 2.7TT’s. And we get killed at the top end.

not to brag too hard but I pretty much rape anyone who will run me on the street regardless. People generally don’t know how to launch, get nervous or just plain over do it. I have logged sub 3 second 0-60s ever since ko4 days. I’m am in no way saying this threads info is off but in my encounters the fast 2.7s don’t play any catching up.
