Hit the strip today...

So… Imolamonster wanted to hit the strip today and I went along… Conditions were horrible… DT says DA was 3100+ and my station said 3300+… No one there so made 4 passes in 30 minutes and bailed… Ran Imola 3 times and beat him each time by less than .1 Very good races… I also, out reacted him but that is just experience… Ran a ZL1 the other time… lol

Went 12.10, 12.12, 12.22, and 12.23… traps were off 3-4mph…

Here is one of the vids I can add the others later… He has some as well… Posted the ZL1 vid in a seperate thread in general discussion…

what did the other cars run? Best times and traps for each?

Of and I will Paypal your brother five bucks if he shows both clocks et and mph at the end of each run next time lol.

I will pay your brother $500 to go take some sort of video arts course.

Saki, Don(jet blue car) didn’t run… He and his wife drove up to watch and mostly get the vagcom mods done… Very nice guy and so was his wife… He gave me a killer S4 hat I will be pimping… He said he would be back in the fall with us and make some passes then as did his wife… It is kind of cool as not to many things can bring a 20 year old, 40 year old, and 60 year old together and have a good time…

Here are some times for my car and Patrick’s… He had another run that he went 12.5 as I think his tranny glitched…

Patrick Me
12.2099 12.1260
112.33 113.30

12.2854 12.2246
112.61 113.59

12.2942 12.2374
111.52 113.02

Also, that was Don on the camera not my brother… He did ok for the first time using it… Patrick’s buddy had a killer camera and was taking vids so once he sends them to me or posts them I’ll update…

Meistah, lol… I am sure he would take the cash… Wasn’t him taping this time…

Good stuff thanks.

you are both running the same cars…same tune…same gas…same Trans…and he had headers, and traps less?

Either you are running some secret sauce tuning from Apr that should be mentioned or those headers are terrible. or both.

Saki, No problem… His car doesn’t have sport dif, he runs 18’s, has the JHM fronts which are lighter than my BBK, so if anything his car is a little lighter… He was full interior yesterday, but he took off all the engine cover stuff… Tune I believe is different… Gas is the same… Headers are still unproven at this point IMO… Not sure when will see other header cars hit the strip… I spent some time teaching Patrick the does and don’t of drag racing, IE shallow staging, keeping it straight, air pressure, etc so hopefully he continues to improve…

sorry…tune is different?

Yes…

ugh, I look at these times and go WTF M8

I was at the strip on friday and best run was 12.34@113.13. 60 ft could be better was right about a 1.8

APR Stage 2+ with full intake, MS109 with a bit of 94 octane mixed in. probably a 1-4 ratio 94/109. Lighter weight wheels with stock dunlops. A bit over a quarter tank, no spare or tools. DA of -221. Trap and ET were best yet but overall I have never come even close to some of the traps that some are seeing.

Obviously no LW rotors or exhaust although I can’t see an exhaust making a huge difference aside from weight savings. If anything I would just love to delete the cats and be done with it.

lol i love to see B8 guys complain that with a tune and pulley and wheels they’re ‘only’ seeing 113 MPH out of their moderately sized V6 with a small supercharger.

That’s fucking AWESOME!

Great time KB. I will add you to the database.

p.s. can you add your second best timeslip to the thread? Also, any other interesting cars there (S/RS/AMG/M etc)

Dammit I had to work late friday, would have loved to see that run! That is a sick time, I can understand your frustration though. I think you have the unofficial record for the fastest b8 s4 in Vancouver :stuck_out_tongue:

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/501272-Trip-to-Mexico-Revo-Stage1-VS-Headers

This guy is stating the opposite.

What’s the difference between Prime’s tune and Imolamonster?

KB - awesome run!! I have the Milltek non-res and am still on Stage II ver. 1 - best pass is 12.45 @ 112.40 on my 19" peelers. I’ll soon upgrade to Version 2.0 and make a few more passes with my 18" snows this fall. Hoping to make it into the 12.3s. Fingers crossed . . .

Isn’t Ron running APR’s beta race tune?

Let the conspiracy theories begin ;D

Was a good night and the weather cooperated, we are trying to set up a water cooled day at the drags before the season wraps up, I will let you know! Bunch of guys with 12 second vr-t’s a couple mk5’s including my own if I can get some slicks or good dr’s arranged, maybe an rs4 etc. more the better!

I’m honestly super happy with this car compared to my underperforming mk5 with way too much money wasted on it, I just know there is more in this car even as is, biggest hurdle is the tcu IMO and now that HPA is focused on making tunes for 2.0t’s I think apr will finally get a dsg flash out.

Of course he does…he just spent $3,000 on that opinion lol.

Let’s look at the facts. In that video, his car has headers and either is catless, or has high flow cats. The other car has stock cats. The only difference between the two cars is the headers and catalytic converters. Right?

So now there’s a performance gap. No shit! The guys with the 034 high flow cats dominate the B8 S4 quarter mile list. They have stock exhaust manifolds though…no headers. The first headers car on the list is richib86, well down in around 15th place. He was on pump gas you may say? OK. lets look at that.

There are 5 cars ahead of him on pump gas on the list. Heck there are a couple of B7 RS4 ‘turds’ that have him WELL beat on that list with just tune/exhaust/ on pump gas.

So all that test in the thread o nAZ proves is that high flow cats, or catless is faster than stock catalytic converters. That point was already proven here…

audirevolution.net/quartermile

As for primetime’s tune, I didn’t realise (or I forgot) that primetime is running a tune that is different to the other guys on ‘v2’. If I were a betting man, with all the feedback he has been giving APR in the way of logs etc. they probably noticed that with his race gas he’s using and with his car’s setup, they had the opportunity to add a little more to the tune in the way of timing perhaps or other parameters to make a little more power. They don’t want that tune on everyone’s cars because their gas may not be as good…and their modlist may not support it. i.e. prime has high flow cats which will help keep some heat out of the engine, keeping it a bit safer than a stock cat car.

Knowing this though, I think it should be a bit more above board. It’s a tweaked APR tune, not an APR tune. Joe Blow (or Joe Imola) might think he can buy that tune and replicate primetime’s results. While I’d love to say the gap between his car and other similarly modded cars is down to his driving, fact is that if his tune has more in it, we have to consider that first on a DSG car especially.

KB, times are good man don’t get discouraged… A slightly better 60 and your 12.1-12.2 I wish I could get a DA like you had this time of year… lol Are you shallow staging? Do you get wheel spin? You have to play with the air pressure to get a really good launch and most people don’t… I overestimated this past time at the strip and went with 46f 42r and it didn’t hook as well(track prep was non-existent)… Imolamonster actually out 60ft me at least 2 out of 3 runs and maybe all 3, I can’t recall and I am in the office now… Believe it or not an exhaust will help and to your point cut some weight especially the non-res miltek since you ditch the rear mufflers… Obviously, ditching the cats will help big time… Also, the stock dunlops are some of the heaviest tires out there… When you need new ones go with PSS or conti dws… They are much lighter… Did you log any of your runs? Are you pulling timing? What kind of timing are you seeing?

to be fair, im very inexperienced at the drag strip. ill be making many more trips to the strip tho as im now much closer to englishtown than i was and ill be able to get a better technique down. with that said, when i was at the strip with my stage 2, it was still beta software, the production software(which i still dont have yet) has raised red line with a higher top speed per gear, im hoping my next trip to the strip will be a better show. good or bad ill post results. i know theres much more in it at the strip considering how i pull pretty hard as is on similarly equipped cars minus headers on the street

Richi, I don’t think there’s much to being good at the quarter mile. We can all drive reasonably well. Heck you had a good 60 foot time of 1.87 seconds. Unless you suddenly forgot how to shift, I’m not sure there’s a ton more in it.

didn’t you run that time at like DA -1000 feet?

Anyway, if someone wants to say the quarter mile results from richi don’t show the product well (maybe we won’t mention EuroCode running high 12s on their car with an excellent driver) then what has shown the headers to be ‘proven’? Dyno results? lol. Even if we do, again, the 20 whp etc. can just about be explained by the catalytic converter change.

I can’t see why anyone would buy these things.

How about this pbox list. Any headers cars on it? oops…

Stage 2 V2 APR MT6 car with headers/intake/CPS/exhaust in the winter did 60-130 in 12.66
stage 2 V2 APR MT6 car with just an intake in the winter did 60-130 in 11.6

So we have a gap of about 1.0 second…both in good DA…both on the same night. That’s only one shift, so I don’t think we can blame Richi’s driving for that. Heck a few other cars matched that headers car in the summer temps.

Any other headers results?

There’s one on the stock tune. Ran the same night as a bone stock car. Let’s look at that.
bone stock DSG 16.43,
exhaust headers intake DSG 16.46

So, $5,000 in exhaust and intake work, most notably the headers, adds up to…slowing you down 3 hundredths of a second.

well thats just it, the vbox list time you are comparing me to is a production software. i had to shift to hit 130 whereas the other car did not
