He was bogging on the launch badly…had his winters on and was getting too much traction. He then kept adding tire pressure till he was barely spinning. Then he cut the nice 1.74-1.75 times. Then they kicked him out lol.
What do you mean “What problem”… I was under the impression he was having issues with his car since going stage 3? If I remember correctly his times were never close to this good (trap or ET) any other time he’s be at the strip. Are you saying this whole time it was a tire modification that was holding him back, even during highway pulls?
I considered going this weekend but with the higher temps, I decided not to. Not really worth it. I might try and go a Wednesday evening if they start having those for the cooler temps.
He did…he beat the F430 by a tenth minimum every time we lined up… Unfortunately it got too hot, so he was a tenth or so off his previous pump best.
I guess there are no launch specialists in Modena, the car has a throttle-limited launch until the clutch is engaged. Then occasionally it decides to let it spin off the line…you never know which one youre going to get. I managed a 12.3xx@121+ or something, gotta check the slips. I’d imagine a MT version would be a lot quicker.
Maybe he’s referring to last year when I was still on a test tune?
I got my final tune in november but the weekend after I got my final tune, the track decided to close and never got an opportunity to run. This last time was my first time out with my full tune and unfortunately, between having to tweak the tire pressure and my shifting rustiness from a long winter, I ran out of time before I could get into the low 12s since they decided to close 2 hours early. And now the temps are too hot without an intercooler to get record times…sigh…cayuga, why do you hate me so!
I have some vids, we both had GoPros but faced them forward. The car is my dads, i may have it from time to time though… Some of you remember it already from the F430 vs stage 2 S4 a long time ago. Funny that time the F430 simply KILLED the S4 (from a roll, of course).
Nice to know that the S4 only loses a tenth or so in the heat.
Yeah definitely not great conditions for record runs, but it was a lot of fun!
Well I did trap in the high 115’s which maybe a personal best on pump gas for me…
The F430 was amazing and sounded the part! If it had LC or allowed J to rev it up I would have been toast. The first race was crazy close and if we ran to 1350ft vs 1320ft J would have one. Two others races we traded red lights and the only other run I remember J couldn’t get the car to hook and let off almost immediately.
If it was a Roll race it would be very ugly for the S4 on pump… But could be interesting on race gas.
Yeah J’s right we both had go pro cams but apparently only one of us (J) knows how to use it and actually recorded any of the runs
Anyway, it was a lot of fun J! Thanks again for the good time!
Also bear if you were trapping 115 regularly that’s pretty awesome. You should have been able to make a new personal best. The heat will hurt your power and trap but if your traps were stronger so was the potential for a better et.
My traps were good when hot lapping with little to know line up. It was actually crazy… when I could hot lap the car the traps improved almost 3 mph from the first run to the 3 or 4 (can’t remember). I guess that is inline with my dyno experience as well as what others are seeing at the track.
I did the complete Ferrari experience that day, I wore my brightest red shirt and pumas, and even made sure to park across two handicapped spots when we stopped anywhere. The experience was completed when we realized that this Ferrari wasn’t made for the drag strip.
Tip…whatever name you write on your registration card is the one they will read out when you line up. I laughed when he announced our race as JSpazz vs David Duchovny.
