People are still obsessed with the M3? FWIW I don’t see anyone in SF with one. I did see one at dinner a month or two ago. It had some awful 18" wheels and looked kind of like a Hertz car.

Did anyone actually put an M3 on the same dyno as an APR or REVO S4, or any other car that has more data? I’m not buying all of the inflated numbers tuners are leaking.

Had to lol @ $75k for this treatment

Don’t they come factory with 19" wheels? People are weird somtimes…

Happens all the time.

Remember when Apr came out with a 330 whp dyno for the b8 s4?

Then 95% of everyone else who dynod got between 270-300.

But what did everyone reference when talking b8 s4 dyno? “OMG BBQ330WHPIT’SSOOOOOUNDERRRATEDDDDDD WWOOOOOOOOOO”

Norwalk thread for tonight.

Right. I got 278-280 for a stock S4 map even with a few mods. I expect a stock M3 on a mustang dyno would put down near what my S4 puts down, about 345-350.

Ah west, never let the truth ruin your distorted, BMW-hating view of the world…

There are MANY posted dynos on just about every popular brand of dyno, in just about every BMW forum by both OWNERS and shops/resellers and I don’t think I’ve seen one yet that came in 400WHP. Lots of vbox and pbox times as well all show it’s running about a 12.2@118mph in the 1/4 bone stock, often in fairly warm weather.

Here’s one at 400WHP in 90’F temp on a dyno dynamics by an owner: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1032062&highlight=dyno 3461lbs empty too. (ack! It’s not 3900lbs West!)

I’ll stop there but you get the idea. The F80 is a beast stock and 500-540WHP on E85/race gas, even in warm weather. I’ve had two modded BMW 335s and moved to Audi because I liked other aspects of the car like ride, styling etc. If given my choice, I’d take a modern BMW engine (esp given the tune offerings) over the 3.0T any day of the week.

The F80 is nuts with mid-500WHP, M5 is even faster with it’s twin turbo V8 @ 4400lbs. RS7 w/similar engine ran 10s (nuts) which to me means the C63s v8TT is going to be insane when tuned. Damn Audi for being late to the party with the B9s. I need a V8TT RS5!

It would put down more because it’s a good bit faster. If he’s trapping 117-118 on pump gas it’s definitely making more than 350

Just saw on Bimmerpost that a bone stock M3 went 11.66 @119.24 (and had another 120+ trap). It was running 103 fuel and at Atco which typically puts out really good times. Other than that it was a completely stock DCT car with launch control used (at 3500 RPM). Contrary to what West thinks, that car should put out a lot more than 340-350 WHP on any dyno…

*NSFE

:o Holy shit! That is booking’ it…

we need a forum rule that warns people before clicking youtube links of the new M3. It’s NSFE (not safe for ears)

Yeah that exhaust note is pretty meh.

Harkens a lot back to the straight six in the E46 M3… I had a rasp pipe on mine to kill that metallic sound…

I’m putting this on the Boxster:

Fail

Get a V8 already. Saying you care about how your car sounds, and then buying a car with a V6 and another with a flat 6 means you’re doing it wrong.

Wait a minute…boxer engines sound oh so nice…I love the sound of a Subaru flat 4.

Subies come with unequal length headers. This creates that signature lumpy growl. Try putting equal length headers on a Subie and you’ll make it sound like any other four cylinder… boring.

Why would anyone try to change that? Definitely no REAL benefits for going equal length. Subaru boxers “aside from ringland failure” are wonderful pieces of machinery.
