That would make me believe there are no charges pending for Kane (I. E. The lawyers have been told and now they are going to blast the bullshit media reports and defend their clients reputation)
As I mentioned a few pages ago, if that is the case they will attempt to convict him in the media. I imagine the police will do the same.

BUFFALO - The lawyer for a woman alleging she was sexually assaulted by Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane says an empty evidence bag was improperly left in the doorway of the woman’s mother’s home.
Thomas Eoannou (ee-WAHN’-oo) said Wednesday that the bag at one point contained the rape kit used when the woman reported that she had been assaulted.
Eoannou wants the FBI or state police to probe how the bag left the custody of investigators.
Eoannou says it’s not clear how the bag got to the mother’s home or what effect it may have on the investigation. He says the mother made the bizarre discovery when she came home from work for lunch on Tuesday.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita did not immediately return a message seeking comment from The Associated Press.
Police have been investigating Kane since early August. He has not been charged.

I am confused. First, who the fuck is Ray Donovan? Second, why would the evidence bag be dropped off at the mother’s house? What purpose would that serve?

Ray Donovan is a character in a great Showtime show. Go watch the first 3 episodes of season one and see if you like it. Played by Liev Schreiber, he’s a fixer for a law firm that caters to celebrity clients. Basically if someone fucks up, he helps make problems disappear.
Like someone is doing for Kane right now.
And yes, this is extremely strange. No part of this latest development makes sense.
Tamper with the evidence? Sure, but burn the bag or bury it in a landfill. Taunting the family though? that’s personal.
So…for whom in the Buffalo police force would this be personal? Joe Blow who likes the Hawks? Nope. Kane’s buddy who earns $50,000-100,000 a year being his driver/security guy? Could be.
Cool. I’m re-upping my Showtime subscription for the new Homeland season, so I’ll check out the Donovan show as well.
The whole Kane situation is downright bizarre. Tampering with the evidence and taunting the family with it isn’t even a rational move if you’re trying to protect Kane - it actually seems more plausible to have been done to keep the story alive and screw with his reputation even further.

Also seeing Multiple sources saying that the female friend — a college classmate — no longer fully backs the accuser’s version of events and has expressed reluctance to testify. Without her corroboration, it would be harder for prosecutors to move the case forward, those sources said.
Possibly why the Grand Jury was postponed.

So the mother planted the “evidence” bag lol. What a fiasco. I think the investigation is likely to end soon. The DA made a not-so-subtle jab at the complainant’s tactic of lawyering up and refusing to speak to the prosecution without her attorneys. That’s unusual for a case like this where the victim would have every incentive to make sure those guys have all the info they need.

It was not the rape kit bag. It was the bag the cops/hospital gave the mother to put her daughter’s shirt in. From the looks of it she never brought the top to the police in that bag (cops used their own), and then 50 days later gave the empty bag to the attorney saying she found it in her door.
He (the DA) also mentioned that they shared the DNA evidence with Kane, then referenced a precedent where if the DA finds strong evidence that could potentially exhonerate the accused, they must share it. Kind of a pre-discovery. He shared the DNA evidence with Kane’s lawyer. To me that says the evidence of that DNA test were very much in Kane’s favour, however there’s still loads of forensic evidence to go through

50 days later she calls their civil case attorney and tells him she found an evidence bag in the door of her house and it has hospital rape kit nurse tags on it etc. The attorney made the leap that it was the rape kit bag (rape kit was in a box not a bag, and since he’s a civil attorney you can see how he would not know that) and then went public. Cops would have come to the front door. The one she never uses. Perhaps she had the shirt in that bag…took it out…cops put it in their bag…and she left that bag at the front door. Then 50 days later she saw it there and freaked out, forgetting what it was from. That seems far fetched at best. During interview, she claimed she never took the bag at all, so there goes that explanation.
My question is…why did she change her shirt when she went home? A few options

^^ regarding the attorney’s mistake because he’s a civil practitioner - the DA said the complainant is being represented by two attorneys. One’s a civil guy, the other a criminal defense counsel. If they are competent, they would be coordinating their representation of her. If the criminal defense attorney couldn’t tell what a rape kit was, then he’s probably not very good at his job. If the civil attorney didn’t discuss this with the criminal guy before parading around the “evidence” bag at a press conference, then he’s an idiot.
Either way, major fuck-up by her counsel. It’s looking like a money grab at this point. If so, it’s disgraceful.

I do have to wonder what is going on with the mother. This would do nothing to help her daughter find justice if she was indeed raped. This could only backfire.
I honestly at first thought she’s just looney tunes and didn’t remember that she put the fucking bag there 50 days ago…then found it and freaked out.
However when she denied ever having that bag in her possession…that makes no sense.
The only thing I can think is that they’ve been advised that the case isn’t going forward this week…and this was some desperate attempt to make it look like sabatoge. It’s not a co-incidence that the bag story happened the day after the DNA info was leaked.
I do find it strange that she’s hired two lawyers here. And the DA had some frustration that he’s been directed to speak to her attorneys and not her. She’s not the one who needs a lawyer - Kane is. And I’m still trying to figure out what that settlement talk was all about. Settle what?
