Tip of the hat to the 034 boys, nicely done.
11.8@118 is pretty darn good for 91oct shakedown runs.
Just the one pass at 116… can’t recall what the other couple passes were. It was in the ballpark though.
The car ran a 12.5 and a 12.4 also if I remember correctly.
We made some file changes but the turbos blew on the way back to the track.
K03’s had 130k on them, previously giac chipped and lasted 6k miles on that file.
Cook Max. Thanks for stepping up. Looking forward to seeing more.
Deff a good time for shakedown im sure theres lots more to see
p.s. similar to what TTS experienced with their RS4 when they went 11.4 @ 125, max/034 got pretty much universal compliments from audirevolution for :
a) stepping up and hitting the strip to give the market some real, benchmarkable performance data
b) running a decent time, considering it was a first stab
Despite that, people on AZ are calling us haters lol.
Its no talking to people over there really i mean as stated here before even if you ran at the track and did a roll out cause you didnt wanna break your car or something the trap speed should yeild good results and show you how the car runs…034 said the trans needed a rebuild and even if they didnt launch it still came out with good results. Haters lol?!? cuz you wanna see results before spending thousands on a turbo kit! yea im a hater then!
If we were haters we wouldn’t be saying positive things. The run is impressive because its in the 11s, with a roll out. They probably think that its the most impressive thing to ever happen since the birth of humanity and so we must be haters for not calling it things like epic. We are haters for not falling all over ourselves to get on the bandwagon. It was what it was, high 11s, high teens trap under decent conditions. The way people are acting on AZ is like it just went a buck fifty in the 8th.
lol the 10.8 predictions were awesome.
You should sack up and hit Sac up with 034 and JHM in a fence-mending battle of the ages. Would be fun for the rest of us to watch. Not sure who else out there has something that would hang with you guys.
I’d submit they’d be too scared. But hell, ask AMD to send down some of their monster superstars. Would be especially cool if their and JHM’s supercharged RS4s were running by then.
I am so down, just slammed so maybe we should all set a nice comfy cool weather date and just go make passes. It will be fun, I will have to trailer it so I am down to push it.
yeah, for sure. Wait till like December or something.
We should try to coordinate a Sac weekend in the Fall/Winter. And good times for the 034 car, especially on 91 octane.
I will bet $2 on the blue car from Lathrop. Either blue car from Lathrop actually.
No not December, way too late, just not while its cooking and busy in and around sac.
Let me or Austin know when you’re going. We’re planning to bring a few cars up there once it cools down a bit.
That 11.8 was definitely no roll out, look at their 60ft, they full on launched the car.
Also, Max, Racerxx, whoever. Tell 034 to stop being cheap and rebuild your trans! You basically donated your car to them for the project, the least they could do is rebuild the trans. That way we can take the “oh my transmission shifts like crap and I can’t run a number”.
The best part about your situation is it reflects a lot of what the B5 S4 crowd does now a days. "Let’s spend 5-10k on a motor build and another 5-10k on a turbo kit yet the rest of my car needs a ton of work including a transmission rebuild.
It’s funny how a lot of the muscle car guys are sort of the opposite way, we spend a lot of money building the car up to be capable of handling a big hp build and the HP increase is usually one of the last things that happens.
All of our transmissions are bad. I just changed the fluid in mine in hopes it will shift easier. Anyone who beats on their o1e has a hard shifting trans. It’s like complaints about the car being heavy, deal with it.
Even after they are rebuilt with the updated 1-2 collar/synchros?
If you are hard on them, they go down hill fast. Miss even just a few shifts and they are notchy or even locked out. If you slam it in out of gear enough to knock down the burs on the gear and change the oil you can get more life before the inevitable.
They are rarely damaged from power/shock. It’s banging gears, missing shifts and misaligned shift linkages.
Good stuff Max! Glad you guys were able to make it out to the track, hopefully I will be able to join next time. Let’s get that transmission rebuilt that you have been bugging me about for over a year now, maybe this will be more motivation for you to finally pull the trigger!
If the transmission wasn’t as bad as it is, I wouldn’t have said anything. Like you guys have said, a beautiful shifting 01E is a rare occurrence (even when new), but there is a notable different between even our shop Avant S4 and my own car. Could we swap transmissions? Yes, we could, but we would rather use that labor to remove and rebuild my transmission. I promise I won’t pay full price either, if it makes you feel better. =D
I will say that while I love my Southbend Stage 4 Extreme, it certainly is not a fast shifting clutch. It is a big large diameter single disc, and it shifts like that as well. The combination of a big heavy clutch and a worn out 01E leaves a lot to be desired. With my SPEC Carbon Carbon twin disc, shifts were literally double the speed despite the worn transmission components.
I think people forget how much time can be made with a twin disc. JHM didn’t use a twin disc, they used their B7 based clutch which shares a similar weighted disc as I used, so basically the same as far as shift time. I’d love to see the JHM car with a twin disc.
Seriously! I keep trying to offer sexual favors in exchange for a rebuild, but you guys keep turning me down… Is my blond hair and green eyes not sexy enough?
I think a Get-Together @ Sacramento when temps cool down sounds like a fantastic idea. Friday “Test and Tunes” I guess are a bit more expensive, but I think there was only about 15 cars maximum there, potentially even less. We were one of two AWD cars there; a modded GT-R was doing low 12’s.
It is also easier for us to get over there on Fridays since we don’t have to get up for work the next day.
