I haven't seen a company fight the 1/4 mile this hard in a while

You guys should rent the track and make it a showdown.on a Tuesday our something. Probably cost 400 per tuning company.

Bring out some customers too as customer appreciation day. Would be really fun.

Just watched the vid, it was a clean run and he did launch, the slow 60 is from the 1-2.

Edit, wait I am dumb, I.was looking at his reaction as his 60, wtf… max that was a full out run. Where is the mph?

I’ll see If I can muster a showing out there. Depends on the date. I have Infinkc’s e85 k04 avant that is down the street.
I think he ran 12.3@120 on a bad clutch last time out. (same day as the jhm 10.8 run)
Might be able to sweet talk some others into it as well.

You said you made 15 passes. Can you please post the time slips in the order that you ran them? or maybe your best 2 and your worst 2? I just want to see how much you improved. Thank you.

11.8 “I’m happy for you and your build”

Not to be that guy… But why are we excited about this?

From what I can gather there was several 12.4…12.3 ballpark range times. It appears the best time was the 11.8 That’s not even real strong ko4 territory.

Im not even remotely excited about this. Why are we so hard on the Tial cars that did low 12 second times and this company Eeks out a 11.8 with a weak MPH and were cheering for them?

Sorry but no company accidentally just ends up at the track. Are we to believe that this was something that 034 just haphazardly had happen one day on the way home.

Sorry. Even if this is on 91 (I don’t believe that) its a failure in my book. Ill save a few thousand not hack up my car and get ko4s. Sorry guys while its nice someone has a single turbo kit. This just seems like we are being nice for the sake of being nice. While several tial guys have done the same and they get pelted.

hey…maybe Ive got it wrong maybe this is something more exiting Im missing. Im open to what I maybe missing. Im assuming this isn’t the same car that just weeks ago claimed 550whp.

Fully agree & it was the car claiming 550whp

I think they are being congratulated for stepping up

They have said (between the lines) this was just to stop the controversy really. They will fine tune it and have a better go at it. At that point if they’re not trapping 125+ while claiming 500 whp they will have some questions to answer.

edit: just watched the video…they launched well then shifted like the gears were made of glass. There’s more in it as is…as well as with more appropriate tuning…as well as if they go in better conditions.

Look at the timeslip…August 24th (interesting…they went a whole week ago) at 8:28 pm.

Density Altitude at Sacramento for the two measured times around that run was decent, but you can get 0 density altitude at Sac in the fall

7:53 PM
Density Altitude: 1519 feet
Relative Density: 95.63 %

8:53 PM
Density Altitude: 1146 feet
Relative Density: 96.69 %

Ya I figured you were looking at the reaction time! A mid 1.7 on street tires(even though it was warm out and traction is always better) is good and can equate to really good times down the track as well.

So it seems like their car that normally puts down mid 500 whp(as advertised) and a density altitude of low to mid 1000s traps slower than a ko4 car with similar gas.

Looks like 034 got caught up in the dyno game that others were playing and their dyno numbers are a bit happier than industry standard. Bad transmission or not, a b5 s4 WITH WEIGHT REDUCTION that is putting down over 500whp on a dyno should be trapping well over 120mph.

I am glad they stepped up to the plate and showed the true colors on their dyno.

You can even use one of these generic conversions to figure out something is wrong, yes it is super generic but an audi still has 4 wheels just like the rest:

They said they used race gas on a conservative 91 octane file. A 91 octane file and a race file will be night and day, frankly. The fiuel can only do so much, without the parameters being adjusted to take advantage of that fuel.

I say this is not their ‘here is what the kit is capable of’ run. this is their ‘alright, we will hit the strip, and just to prove it look…we went last week’ run. If they never go back and just sell the kit on the dyno and don’t improve on that decent but modest quarter mile time, we’ll all get on their balls. I for one don’t think that will happen.

Ok, I will take your statement into consideration, all I was saying is there are some gaps of information that are to be questioned but that is how it will always be on the consumer side of things.

Next time they run it would be cool to see this:

“Here are the times from the exact setup we made XXX whp with” “Here are my weight reductions to take into consideration as well”

It would seriously be nice to know how their drag runs stack up to their dyno numbers and it would lead to the following:

  1. They back up their dyno numbers with a solid trap speed
  2. Their dyno numbers are huffed to shit in comparison to their trap speed
  3. Their tune is only good on the dyno and sucks when going from 1st-4th and/or the real world.

yeah, I agree

if people are willing to buy from a dyno sheet…they are not likely to stop buying when they see an underwhelming trap speed that would lead one to believe the car (in that configuration) is making far less than claimed dyno power. There is however a segment of the community that saw those dragstrip times and realised that

a) ok…it’s not a disaster
b) it’s not near ready or indicative of the stellar dyno performance

But again, at least they showed performance. Hopefully some people will see those times and recognize that the kit is not all there yet. Perhaps as someone on AZ mentioned, they are just showing performance that is attainable on stock motor type power levels (maybe just about 400 whp and a bit less torque). i.e. something to compete with an OTS K04 setup. I think their goal is to undercut K04 kit pricing, isn’t it? At least that’s what I thought one of the big factors was…to offer a kit that net of everything, would save guys a couple grand.

Well put and I agree with that statement.

That car dyno’d a little over 550 whp, but at 27 psi on their 110 file. They discontinued further dyno tuning because the clutch was letting go. New clutch has since been in, but haven’t seen any additional dyno tuning results.

Max hit the strip on the 91 file (tuned with the .82AR hot side) with the .64 AR hot side on 100 octane. I think there is more to be had. We shall see.

I’m just gonna throw out a guess but maybe they are just working through the tuning and these were the first start to end multi gear runs? I found some weird stuff happening with trims when first going all out at any given boost or power level from 1st-whatever. It seems like it fell off after the 1/8th

I am going to try and find my old slips, I had some runs where it was in limp after the 2nd to 3rd shift and I think I trapped similar.

maybe you can comment

how much of a power and time/trap hit would you take if you went from your race file to your 91 file, but ran really good gas?

I reckon it would be a huge hit.

Fwiw my pump file rides the knock sensors a bit, if I dump in good fuel it makes the tune much more agressive in regards to timing and AFR as my fueling is also dynamic off knock. I don’t do the dyno thing really but other data tells me my car is substantially faster under that scenario.

I do not think 034 has knock based fueling control in their tunes. So they would just get a timing bump and even that would only be a max of 15 degrees and only if they are into knock corrections on 91 to begin with.

With all that said, I think their claimed 91 number was 475ish?? That is conservative tune in my opinion for 91 on the single / big port heads.

i cannot believe i found these in the bottom of my mobile tool box… not all my slips from that first outing with the single last summer but 9 is better than non, probably did 30+ runs. many were on different files as I was really experimenting that trip. reason I see them as pertinent is to show what shake down and let downs really look like. some of these runs had missed gears, one or two have charge pipe failures, one I believe was a second gear launch, some with horrible files I made that should have never existed and so on. I think there is still some info here for those looking for it. all 91 oct, all off gate pressure of 21 psi, all with 100% interior, car # 958 (even though one slip says 758) best run of the night was 11.6 if i remember right or it was the faster 11.7 with my girlfriend in the car where i anti lagged from this vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8iP6z7kEgA&hd=1&t=30s which was still in limp mode from the no lift.
