I hit the C5 4.2 trifecta!

Started with the A6 4.2

Continued with the S6

http://gp1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9210376/p4pb9210376.jpg

And finally, I got my hands on a dirt cheap, blown DRC, failing torque converter, rebuilt title RS6 (with bonus RS badges mounted above the side blinkers SCORE!)

It is far from perfect shape, but it fit my budget and will be a nice little project. Plan is to move the 6speed and coilovers from the A6 over to the RS6. I know it sounds like you heard this before, but this time it is really going to happen

Ill get some better pics tomorrow.

nice, looks good… those extra badges are interesting.

for the 6mt swap are you planning on the steveken route of a custom flywheel/trans spacer?

hey thanks

The badges drive me nuts. I wanted to rip them off today LOL. But I decided to be patient and wait until I have some fishing line and a heat gun.

Yes, Im thinking Ill get the SteveKen kit. Im trying to talk him into trading me one for my Recaro interior

Is there any other way? I thought his kit was the only option available.

one thought would be to use an A6/S6 crankshaft and block with the rs6 rods/pistons… not the route I’d go. Steve’s kit looked well thought out

wow that’s awesome. I fucking love the RS6. Avus silver too…nice one.

Make it Ti package. Black window trim and grille trim, and gunmetal wheels. then we’ll have a race for some Avus on Avus crime.

p.s. I was wondering why you were suddenly selling everything you owned lol. Makes sense now.

Thanks man

Avus with black interior is definitely my favorite factory colour combo for RS6.

I am totally with you on the Ti package. The upper grill on my A6 makes the car look so much better with the black trim. I am surprised they didnt black out the trim on the outside, as the inside has the door handles and cluster rings blacked out from the factory.

The car seems mostly stock, except for all weather mats and the extra RS badges LOL. So, not a lot too show. There were just a few little things that set it off from the regular A6 (well, aside from the drivetrain stuff)

white piping on the seats

Shark fin antennae and Nav Sat inside (that I need some time to be able to figure out how to use

http://gp1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9581159/p4pb9581159.jpg

An AWESOME spare tire! I never knew about this. It looks like solid rubber

and of course

List of things that have to be fixed

  • suspension
  • control arms
  • alignment
  • timing belt and all related stuff

So, Ill definitely have my hands full for awhile.

Does it drive, or is the trans destroyed? Idles ok?

Where on earth did you find this? Good deal? PM me if you want.

I think it’s a pretty awesome car. the 4.2T is pretty special. Look at the success the modern 4.0T cars are having.

p.s. use dental floss to ditch those RS badges. Funny, there’s a B8 S4 around here who has some random extra S badges on each side kinda like that, although these ones are real low.

Found it on Audizine

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/538730-2003-Audi-RS6-77-000-km-price-12-500-neg

It runs and was being used as a daily driver. He drove it here on the highway from an hour away. It bounces around like a boat, because the DRC is completely shot.

Idles great, although I haven’t pulled the codes yet. With only 77K, I would guess it is still on the original turbos. Apparently, has a Unitronics tune.

Wait…WHAT!!!

Does it have 188,000 miles?

That’s pretty awesome even if you just part it out.

I guess with coilovers, a transmission and whatever else to do the timing belt it could get expensive. Still, you’ll be in an RS6 for $15,000 or thereabouts.

I actually have everything I need on the A6 to fix the RS6 (well, all the pricey stuff anyway)

All 6spd swap parts will be moved over. I have an FX400 clutch, which is good for 675lb/ft. A perfect match
Researched and found that there is no reason why the H&R coilovers for the A6 shouldnt work on the RS6.
Have to find out if the A6 front control arms can be transferred too
I am working out a trade with SteveKen - My Recaro interior for one of his RS6 6speed kits

After I part out everything else from the A6 (including RS6 bodykit) I should have some extra money for the labor for the swap and timing belt

Im hoping it will all kind of even out in the end

You sure you want to sell those wheels? Aren’t they the super duper light? I thought they were like the OEM RS4 wheels (B5).

I read they were heavy as a tank. Maybe I better pull one off and throw it on the scale. The weight was the main reason why I was going to ditch them. If you find their actual weight anywhere, please let me know.

The OEM B5 RS4 wheels were like 19 lbs I believe, according to wheelweights.net and a couple of the other wheel databases (although one error could just be repeated when everyone trusts the other sites)

According to post #7 at the thread below, one wheel is 59 pounds with tire. I would guess that puts the wheel somewhere around 30 pounds, which is what I had heard it was. Ill keep looking to see if I can confirm…

http://www.rs6.com/showthread.php/22533-Looking-to-buy-a-set-of-OEM-RS6-9-Spokes

yeah, screw that then. They are just the same as the ultrasport wheels I guess. Boat anchors.

What wheels will you use to replace them?

For now, a set of TR Motorsports that I have with worn WINTER tires LOL. The RS6 wheels have the wrong size tires anyway, and this will get the winters out of my garage (I need space for my home reno). The TR wheels are lightweight too

http://gp1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9420569/p4pb9420569.jpg

Oh, btw… that BBS RE deal fell through. So, I won’t be getting them unfortunately. That being said, I have a set of BBS PFS 57.1 rings (brand new) for sale. $50 shipped anywhere in US or Canada.

Oh, and they are the right colour for the Ti package plan

Are those tdr? Not sure they are the right look… 1.2?

Sorry, do you mean the TR Motorsport wheels? They are these, as far as I know

http://www.gldomain.com/STI/TRMotorsports%20MT1/IMG_0682_600px.jpg

Made by Enkei, I think, and weight under 20 pounds. Theyll eventually be my winter wheels, but will do until I find some summers.
