I hit the C5 4.2 trifecta!

Yup, you were right Saki. Lots of gold

Maddog, this is what it needed to make it right

  • Coilovers (was going to go with PSS9s - $2500 installed
  • Timing belt/water pump/ seals $1500
  • Set of summer wheels $3000
  • Brakes $1000
  • Front control arms $1000
  • 6speed swap - $7000 with a nice clutch and SteveKens kit
  • spark plugs/coil packs $500

Total $16500

Then, the problem was that the body work done on the car was not top notch. The paint looked awesome, but the rear passenger fender was bondo’d over. At a good body shop you are probably looking at another $2500 to make it close to perfect.

Soooooo… $19000 into the car, and you would have an awesome machine. However, it would still have a rebuilt title. So, you would never be able to get your money back. You’re putting $20 grand work into a car that is worth $20 grand when done. That, and the fact that inside it doesnt feel any different than my S6 95% of the time, lead to my decision to sell the car.

After four C5s, I think I am finally done with the platform. I love the S6, and will keep it indefinitely. But I wont be picking up any new C5 project cars. Time for something new.

I didn’t ever realize it was for sale. That woulda been a fun project for someone willing to put some time into it. Sorry it had too many headaches for you to enjoy.
