I know this topic is beaten to death but lets talk wheels...

So… Helped a local guy out last night with some vag com mods and he inquired about my BBS CHR’s and I am contemplating selling them to him… They are mint still with maybe 3K miles on the wheels and tires and we pretty much reached a fair price… I told him I would need a weak or so to checkout what I may want to buy and then let him know if I wanted to go through with it… Honestly, I think the BBS CHR’s look great but…

My priorities in order are 1. weight 2. looks 3. price

Here are a few of my choices as I am pretty much just looking at forged wheels… I’ll probably stick with 19x8.5 and go with either a 245 PSS or 255 PSS… Obviously, the 245’s are lighter and unlike others my low powered S4 doesn’t have traction issues however with DSG tune and stage III, it may?

OZ Superforgiata’s… Probably as light as you’ll get but not sure how they will look and they aren’t cheap… These are what I planned to run on the RS but haven’t pulled the trigger on any mods on that toy yet, just been busy with life and such and haven’t played with either car much… Also, haven’t checked on these much but who else besides TR sells them and can they be had for a little less $'s?

BBS RGR… Pretty light and 2-3 lbs lighter than what I have but nothing like the OZ’s… Probably would look better on the S4… Price is not as bad as the OZ but still not cheap… I think I can work a deal with Eric at Supreme…

BBS RS-GT… Similar to the above in weight/looks/price so not much to add…

Just started looking so what else do I need to consider? HRE? Who else?

Also, I don’t want to wait months for something to be built but Paul(potential buyer) is willing to let me use his stockers until I get whatever I buy so I can put something on the car…

Thoughts/Help! Am I crazy/stupid? Going to go through the wheels threads on Vendorzine and I know wheel choices are somewhat subjective but wanted to get some opinions from the group here… Thanks!

CHR look best out of that list, and they’re very light for a modest cost 19" wheel

Stand pat unless you want to change for the sake of something spicy.

How about a set of VOLKs? TE37, gunmetal, custom drill to 5x112, 19x8.5 ET 30ish, probably weigh around 20 lbs each, and they’re tough looking, and rare as all hell.

Sparco Asseto Gara

20lbs, decent, CHEAP

Lightweight, forged, strong, not cheap but a great product.

I have two identical sets for my P-car. Super duper light.

they don’t look very good though. I think you need to honor aesthetics while achieving a nice LW wheel.

As I said above, I think PT has already accomplished that with CH-R. Light-ish, good sized, great looking.

Saki, The more I look the more I think you are right… I love the OZ’s but just not sure on the S4 they would look right, TTRS=no brainer… Most of the pics I have seen show them on 911’s which is a much nicer car than the RS but it’s in the same style so to say… Again, just not sure how they would do on a sedan…

Jake, Thanks! Tirerack shows only up to 18’s and I want to stick with 19’s as IMO 18’s are too small for this car… I do like the looks minus the center shape… Also, lots of color options that’s for sure… lol

Doug, Thanks! Not bad and I’ll look closer tonight but usually not a fan of the big lip…

Meistah, Thanks! Not bad and I had looked at them before but tirerack says 18 is biggest… I like the RSM9’s better and those come in 19…

Thanks for the suggestions!

yeah, some of these sporty wheels need a certain type of aggressive car. When you put them on a 4 door it’s a little goofy. Like an old guy wearing shiny orange trainers.

Diamond Black RG-R’s on a B8…granted, everything looks better on an Avant but… ;D

I’m happy with my BC Forged wheels. They came in between 21-22lbs. for a 19x9.5" wheel. They are around $4k a set now, but custom finishes, sizes and offsets are available. They are custom order, but mine took right at 5 weeks which is pretty good for a custom wheel. HRE would be about the same, but double the price.

I don’t think you can go wrong with several Volk wheels (G2, TE37, G12, G25), but you are likely looking at a wait, and having to re-drill a 5x114 in most cases (their 5x112 fitments are limited for 19" wheels on our cars).

I don’t love the look of the OZ Superforgiata, but damn those are light if that is really what you are going for. And, honestly, they will look OK on the S4… The BBS Forged wheels are always a good option, but I don’t know that I like the look of those two when I have seen them installed on the S4 sedan (CH-R looks much better at only a few pounds more). The above Avant is probably the exception… It looks pretty good…

Rotary forged (aka flow formed aka whatever other random moniker this gets) construction seems to be a good option if you want relatively light, strong and inexpensive wheels. I’m running 19x8.5 Forgestar CF5Vs and they weighed in at around 21.5 lbs.

For Forgestar, the CF10, CF5V and F14 are all pretty good looking IMO. TSW Nurburgring is pretty popular too.
There’s a new OZ Leggera that looks great I think. The Leggera and CF5V are my favorites.

I think my Mizuno MP irons are ‘grain flow forged’.

Yeah, I like the OZ Leggera. It comes in 19x8.5" ET38 and 19x9" ET42 I believe. We still haven’t heard what the weight is on those, but it should be in the 20-21lb. range. The TSW Nurburgring is a good option for the price. Forgestars are OK, but way too many bad experiences with them for me (I waited 4 months for warranty repair on paint/clearcoat issues, and my brother has been waiting 5+ months for a new wheel due to an accident). If everything goes right, they are OK. If there are any issues (which happen with them a lot), be prepared to wait a long time…

Yeah, if you want some forgestars, find some used ones . Ordering new tends to yield a wide range of actual build times from 6 weeks to 6 months (or longer). Promised build times are much better

I like a few wheels this company has, but have no idea on price, haven’t called since im not in the market for wheels yet.

Took 3 months to get my Forgestar CF5V’s, they require hub-centric rings on our cars…good looking wheels (especially if you like concave profiles) but not worth the hassle. You could also look into the flow formed HRE wheels, but probably overpriced considering they all use the same blanks. P44SC is my favorite HRE, but obviously pricey. CH-R is a great looking wheel. Favorite wheel I’ve seen on a B8 is from itzjonjon with the Morr 8.2 (also disaster of a company to order from)

F43’s are 3 weeks from order, I got mine in 2 weeks.

JonJons Morrs are so nice. Love those wheels.

I have to seen a b8 with b7 rs4 wheels yet. I’ve seen virtually every other wheel on them. Surprised. I guess the 9" width and et29 is a bit aggressive? For the size they only weigh 26.8 lbs according to my scale, which is quite good. That’s why so many rs4s keep them.

I also haven’t seen b8 s4 guys using b8 rs4 wheels. I guess they’re more suited to an avant.

I almost bought a set of those for my Jetta when I was wanting to put some sticky tires on it (this was before the current build was even thought of)
