I will not remain quiet any longer.......

Typically a bigger company wouldn’t participate in social media discussions, etc. You know, you’ve rarely seen Audi posting in response to a forum.

I decided we were doing more harm than good by not responding to the discussions of the last few weeks and voila.

Well, there were a few responses . . . but they were so bloated with BS that they did more harm than good #blameArin

It is unfortunate that Mangrove will not be more forthcoming and open about their plans with the company. I don’t think anyone but the most ardent fanboys were pleased with that statement from Matt.

The RS4 downpipe release just seems a bit forced like the “Groundbreaking, Industry-changing” release last week. A hardware component for a 7 year old vehicle with a 2-year run at an uncompetitive price and from a different vendor than Corsa is “meh”. If anything, it only serves to fuel the speculation.

Welcome Keith! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you posting!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Shane it has to be “back in black”.

*shame

  • rep for Abraham Maslow reference lol

Hope you guys can turn things around. Anything is better than the direction you were heading.

Keith,

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to start a thread. It’s great to see someone at APR come out to take notice of how directly some people have been effected by APR’s past actions. I don’t know if you are aware of my story, my experience with APR has produced a year + of misery for me.

-I purchased the original APR stage three kit for the B7 rs4. Before making the purchase I asked if there was going to be anything new stage 3 wise coming out, as there were rumors, I was told no other kits were going to be released and just a few weeks after my purchase you released the new 1750 kit.

  • My main concern before purchasing the kit was, that it wouldn’t interfere with me passing my inspection was told by your techs several times that it would pass inspection

  • when I received the kit, I was sent a S5 serpentine belt that shredded after a few hours, causing a major clean up and reassemble

-Sept 13 couldn’t pass inspection, spent over 150+ hours on the phone with your techs and at the garage to be told by APR that there is something wrong with my car.

-was told to reflash, buy new o2s, I was told that the tune forced readiness all by your techs, with no avail, I kept having my mechanic franticly look over the car.

-was without a legal drivable car for over a year. While I tried to work with APR, going months at a time without a response.

-spent thousands to try to fix the problem, The problem that turned out to not be a problem.

-in the end APR admitted they were wrong after 8+ months and offered no assistance at all. I was told after APR became aware of the issue, that they were working on it. Several weeks of APR working on it, I was told it could take months or longer. I Emailed and asked if there would be fixed and if APR would make a tune to help me pass readiness. I was told that APR would make a tune I just needed to wait ever longer I was eventually told they didn’t know if and when this was going to be fixed.

  • Many people contacted me suggesting I reach out to JHM. In frustration I was prepared to just ditch my APR kit all together and get the JHM stage 1 kit. When talking to JHM they offered me the assistance that I believe I should have gotten from APR. Their calibrator reached out to me and in several conversations helped correct my complete loss of faith in APR, JHM stepped in to help without asking for any more then their costs. JHM helped solve the problem. JHM not only helped solve the problem, they made sure to do so without trying to take my business away from APR. When I suggested just staying with JHM for the tune (as I was very happy) their calibrator’s response was “APR has a great team, I think it would be best to give their new software a shot, they have been working on solving the readiness issues and It’s best you experience APR’s product before you think about switching.”

-I sent my ECU’s back to APR for a retune and was given the new stage 3 tune that still does not pass readiness and is far inferior to the 1st SC tune I had. The car drives horrible and isn’t refined at all, it’s terrible. I’m now even more frustrated.

I have opened a line of communication with Arin, in hopes of having APR help me with readiness, the tune, and my expenses. Any support you can provide in this would be much appreciated.

Danny, great post. Objective and just validates the professionalism of JHM. I hope you find a solution so you have a emissions legal vehicle. I’m sure this has been frustrating for you. Best of luck and please let this forum know what solution, if any, arises in the future.

I think his post just said his solution was jhm.

Keith is back.

It should say a lot that Keith has come on a forum with no protection to directly respond to everyone and there questions. I have only ever heard good things about Keith and how he has been handling this should inspire others to see someone over there knows what’s going on.

^I think he said that he went back to the APR tune after JHM fixed it cause APR had supposedly ‘updated’ the tune. But it ended up being the worst one out of the 3.

Hey Danny,

First off, I am very sorry to hear about this. I’ve spoken with Arin about it and there is an internal email going around with the right people copied in.

I think its great that JHM was able to help you.

We’ve researched your flashing history and we’ve seen that we have been putting the same S/C code on your car each time. It doesn’t seem as though we have a solution for the readiness errors as you know.

It seems weird that the last flash you’ve had is running differently since it should have been the same as the previous two according to our server records.

Arin has worked diligently to recreate your issue and attempt to resolve it on the vehicles we have available at our USA HQ. At this point, and I know your perspective is different so bear with me, we haven’t been able to rule out a hardware problem or a software problem.

As far as we know, you are the only client experiencing this situation. I have a few ideas myself that I will research in the following week. Please forgive the time it will take me as I have guests in town in Germany this week and have gotten a cold. I hope its not Ebola from my new iPhone! :stuck_out_tongue:

I really don’t like to hear about these kind of stories regardless of why they have happened. I’ll keep working on this until we have a resolution. There are no promises I am able to make currently about reimbursement, etc. but I will work diligently to get to the bottom of it, first and foremost.

I have your email and expect something from me next week. You will see sticktoittiveness from me but I am jumping in rather late in the game so expect some duplicate questions from me as I try to get up to speed.

Once again, I apologize for this as its APR’s goal for each of our clients to be able to enjoy their cars as we and you expect.

Thanks,

Keith

Can you please be a little more specific regarding “this situation”?

Which situation are you referring to? His inability to pass emissions or that the server keeps uploading the same tune even though it should be an updated one or that his car is driving worse than it was when he had the JHM tune?

Not trying to be nit-picky but referring to a situation as “this” when he has multiple situations requires more specifics.

I can say I’ve read other APR SC owners having issues passing readiness. One guy in Washington state had to re-register his car in a non-emissions county in order to “pass”. I’m therefore assuming your “this situation is unique” is not related to his lack of emission passing.

Specifically the issues with readiness not setting. I have not experienced myself, nor have I know APR to offer products, even at Stage III+ levels that don’t set those specific readiness codes. The secondary o2 often won’t set readiness with our “testpipe” software that made is to delete it but we have other fixes for that that most often allows them to set.

Then you might also want to read this thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/600103-APR-Supercharger-installed-Smog-Check-REJECTED!-Update-Issue-Legally-Resolved

as he’s couldn’t pass emissions either (although be warned, the thread falls apart quickly).

He’s the one that had to register the car in a different county to legally pass emissions (i.e. going to a county that doesn’t require emissions).

Keith, I’ve been told that the RFD kit that APR sells fails to set readiness.

Yes, thank you. Arin actually sent that to me right after I made my last post. We are discussing it internally now.

See the problem is none of your kits pass readiness…never have.

Why you guys keep sticking to the story that there isn’t an issue is weird. You employ a team of individuals whole write software and I’m confused how they couldn’t and still can’t resolve this situation.

One step worse is that your in-house use of flying tomatoes car also left without being able to pass readiness. It’s looking more and more like internally people might be lying about their results.

Here is flying tomatoes readiness results. I don’t think he’s smart enough to know that his car is having the same issues and won’t pass readiness testing.

He posted his car not passing.

Bear with me. I am getting to the bottom of this.

Remember you have to cut me some slack as I’ve been in Europe for the last 3 years and this is not an issue over here. They just read hydrocarbons and that’s it.
