Intro and N2O questions

Ordered today: R-Series PP, LWFW, 3R clutch, LSD, 4:1 CD, RS4 shifter knob and boot

Probably ordering tomorrow: Short shifter, RS4 peddles

And yes, this build is already out of control, but like you say, it all easier with the parts on a bench vs being in the car… so i am saving money and frustration on the instal.

Cant wait to get this piece on the street again!

:o

Right there with you man!

Ehh I dunno about RS4 pedals, they wear off rather quickly… I’d much rather go with SRP ones.

If you were going to do the swap. Now would be the best time to do it.

Go on… ill do some research tomorrow. Not committed to RS4 peddles, just heard that the stock ones for a 6MT S4 leave something to be desired.

They all kinda do but its hard to find a set that hold up well vs the stock ones

Anybody know if an RS4 shifter box with work in a B7 S4?

Uhh…why? Your car is a B7 and already has a 4:1 center diff

Didn’t somebody just recently call out stasis for selling the modded diff to b7 owners back in the day?

I think that was only for the manuals. He has a tip so it’d be a 50:50.

Also, just to clarify, the 2005.5 MT6 still had the 50:50 diff as well. It wasn’t until 2006 that the manuals went to 4:1. His is a 2008 though so if it were a manual it would definitely of had the 4:1.

yes, but he is swapping to a manual transmission from another wrecked B7 which should have a 4:1 diff (unless it was just a really early 05.5)

this is a quote from Saki in the “lulz on other forums thread”

Dan, I’m sure you just didn’t know or realize this when you ordered it, but I would sure hope that JHM would have caught this mistake and not sold it to you needlessly.

Ah, yea my bad. Forgot he has already done the swap, he even was talking about what clutch to go with. Fail on my part.

Well at least you brought it up potentially saving someone some cash! I was totally unaware of the different diffs until you mentioned it, so thanks for informing us.

Thanks guys… i dont think the order for the 4:1 went in yet, so we’ll wait till the trans gets on on friday and confirm the ration of the center diff.

Still need the following parts:

Clutch/brake peddle assembly
Shifter box (Still want to know if an RS4 box with work… i would think so)
Cross member
front CV shafts

Misc other parts?

This is the RS4 shifter box… http://www.ebay.com/itm/141737856619?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true

I’ve got an s4 shifter box from a b6 I’ll give you for half that if it helps.

Is the RS4 part really any different than that from an S4?

Ill take it man… would totally help. I can paypal you. PM me!

For future reference they should be exactly the same

As far as Peddles i have the SRP pedals and love them. Granted i have a TIP (you rode it in) but the look and feel are great. I cant imagine it being worse with an extra peddle. i recommend them.

Well the rubber on the RS4 ones wears off with time and you’re left with aluminum and chunky bits of rubber pieces that didn’t wear off yet. You could imagine that sight. SRP ones are all aluminum, so nothing to wear. I had RS4 pedals on my automatic B6 and didn’t like the aspect of them wearing off. For the current one I’m going to go with SRP pedals for sure. The only reason I didn’t order them yet is because they have way too many choices lol I have to actually find time and compare all of the combos and see which one would be more appealing to me. You could get them in bare aluminum or anodized, well take a look yourself:
http://www.srpracing.com also JHM sells them as well.

Set of SRP peddles ordered today… Grid with satin finish.

Thanks for the reco!

Front shafts ordered from Raxle, and i found the clutch/brake peddle assembly on a parts site called Slidegood.com

All i need now is the CF trim surround for a manual!

;D
