The 75 and 100 shot, produce equal WHP numbers for both. Trying to dyno on an automatic will be difficult. The Tq converter is going to try and lock up, then the transmission will try to down shift if not done properly. Adding nitrous into that formula will make it even more challenging.
I’m sure you can’t go wrong with the JHM NOS kit. I’m going to throw another option out there.
If you look at length of car ownership, SUVs and Wagons WAY outlast regular sedans. I believe that is because everyone always needs a truck. SUVs and Wagons are the Audi trucks of today. The versatile, do-everthing vehicle.
You have already dumped a bunch of cash into your car. I am going to assume that you will keep it for awhile, considering that, and its versatility (never mind its rarity).
So, in that case, you MIGHT want to look at the JHM supercharger. For the price, it just cant be beat. The NOS kit is awesome, but over the long run I think the supercharger is a better bang for the buck.
The ONLY modified Audi I ever considered making the guy an offer on was Axel’s B7 S4 Avant with the JHM supercharger. I was going to, and then read a post somewhere that he had no interest in selling. I suggest you at least talk to him before you make a decision on the NOS kit. If it was me with your car, I would definitely go for the JHM Vortech.
Good luck. Whatever way you go, I am sure youll be very pleased.
I bet you’re right. I wired it all up and went through everything with a meter. Pulled it all out for the second time. A friend is going to go through it with me again. For some reason the solenoids aren’t opening.
Ok so the car got dropped off this morning for the instal of the intake manifold and the nitrous kit…
First issue… I had planed to have the tank mounted in the spare tire compartment. I had seen this done on another B7 avant, and i wanted to maintain the truck space and keep a desecrate instal. The shop went to test fit it, and they are saying its a no-go.
Apparently the remote bottle opener is the issue… otherwise, it would be tight, but would fit.
Has anybody dealt with this issue? Is there any way to modify the spare tire space slightly to get it to fit? Without looking in the car, its hard for me to come up with a better alternative than just mounting it flat to trunk bed.
Controls for the system will be mounted in the ash tray area in front of the shifter… if anybody has feedback on that call, please let me know.
The remote bottle opener is bulky. You could make it work but it would take a modification of the brackets and modification to the spare wheel hub and compartment.
I have my bottled mounted in the spare tire wheel well on my b6 avant. I don’t have the remote bottle opener though.
Sorry to hear it doesn’t fit. Good to know since I was planning on getting one eventually. You could forgo the remote opener, but it would be a nice feature.
People say to shut off your propane tank when not barbecuing but it’s a right pain to do so, and I never ever have. I’ve never noticed it randomly leaking enough to notice. Not that it’s related entirely, but I thought about it when I was there heloing/(watching) JHM install the first nitrous kits on 91gl and cabracco85’s cars.
That is a concern. The sorce of the issue comes from the swing of the bottle pressure. If your bottle is left in a hot car and your bottle is full the line pressure can get to over 1100psi then the bottle cools off and gets down to 800psi thats a big swing. The constant rise and dropping of the pressure is what concerns people. The thought is that over time the pressure can find a weak spot to leak out or put lots of pressure on the selinoids. I have never had an issue. I have a bottle blanket tho. That keeps the pressure in the same range.
The safe thing is to keep the bottle shut off if its not in use. I originially kept the bottle on as I read my NOS pressure gauge all the time and wanted to see what the range was from day to day and temp to temp. The way I thought about it was. When you shut off the bottle your still keeping pressure in the line. If I shut off the bottle the pressure still says in the line it might fluxuate a little but I thought whats the difference. I just don’t turn on the bottle heater unless I plan on dropping some whoop ass. If I feel I’m in possible race territory I kick on the heater if im below 800psi
